political Russia of the 1800s

Of all the books that Dostoevsky wrote, this one gives the reader the clearest picture of the political unrest in Russia in the 1800s. Dostoevsky draws on actual events and his experiences with the political underground that questioned Tsarist Russia and its social philosophys.

One of Dostoevsky's greats!

Also, I love the edition, which was a rarity. Hardbound, but not the Everyman's library edition which is such small print. Pevear and Volkonsky are great translators The text just flowed.
