Deutsch, Na Klar...oh je!

Na Klar is supposed to be a beginning German coursebook. Yet, compared to other course books I have used, Na Klar uses far less English within the instructive portions of the text, e.i. the parts which simply explain the exercises. For example, by chapter four, one must translate all the exercise instructions simply to be able to proceed with the lesson. This might seem a devisive tool to get students looking up German words, but it is far too burdensome since a beginner possesses only a little knowledge of the language. Often, the instructions in the text use a level of German that is above a beginner. It's really nice when your instructor says something lame like, "so sorry to hear you can't understand...tough beans, you'll just have to try harder". Try what? To learn level 3 German on my own while I'm trying to plow through level 1? That's my only complaint about this book.Read full review...

Needed for College

If you're at OSU, and you're taking the German 250 class, this is the book. Checked it. Get it here because it's soooo much cheaper than off Barnes and Nobles. Need this book too if you're thinking of continuing German.Read full review...

pretty good

I thought I reviewed it already? But anyway, it's in pretty good status. Though there are writing on it, but it's ok.

Why is this review inappropriate?
