The Cry Baby GCB95 is a decent wah Pedal

Hello:

The wah pedal has been around for a long time, over the years they have changed, but the basic effect is still there.

I like Cry Baby Wah's, but the problem is they are not true bypass and they are tone suckers when plugged into your guitar and amplifier.

Also the inductor in the wah is ok, but it lacks that classic tone.

Dunlop offers true bypass wah's and wah's with better inductors, but they charge more for them, my opinion is to look up information on the internet, buy the parts yourself and try modding the wah yourself.

it can be done and it is simple.

The regular cry baby wah pedal can be found all over and very affordable.

The old Wah's by Clyde Mc Coy, Vox, Thomas Organ and others are not the same, the tones are completely different, there are companies out there making Boutique wah pedals, but remember, they cost a lot more.

Grab a cry baby and mod it yourself, you can dial in the sound you want without breaking the bank.

The Cry-Baby has been around for decades and they've yet to address the core problems

Cry-babies have always had two prblems, the switch under the treadle and the potentiometer, if you get too enthusiastic with the pedal, you shut it off, and the pot gets dirty and messes up the sound. But my neice wanted one for christmas so she got one. The Behringer Hellbabe is a much better pedal at a lower price.Read full review...

The original Cry Baby Wah

I got this wah pedal because it's needed for certain songs such as Money for Nothing - Dire Straits. I know that there are other brands of Wah pedals but some won't let you set it in one position and stay there when you take your foot off. But this one does and I like it. It seems to go through batteries quickly but it has an AC adapter which takes care of that problem. The Dunlop Wah pedals have heavy cast metal housings and are really durable. These pedals are expensive to buy new but this used one was more affordable, works perfectly and has the sound I wanted. The eBay seller was very accommodating of my request for a less expensive shipping option. Overall I am completely happy with this purchase.Read full review...

hard to beat a crybaby

one constant on my pedalboard for the last 48 years is the crybaby wah. the one that ebay asked me to review was actually and older gcb25, the ones before the power supply jack. it had a dunlop bottom plate on it, hence the confusion.
but anyway you go, hard to beat a crybaby. they sound great, are built like a tank, and easy to mod to your ear's delight. everybody needs a good wah, and the real fancy expensive ones are nothing more than tricked out copies of this tried and true well tested circuit.
the gcb95 has buffering, which may or may not be an issue.
no stock crybabys are true bypass, either.

Dunlop Limited Edition Cry Baby Wah Pedal

Really diggin the white finish on this. I thought they only came in the bass models but I was super stoked to get the White Limited Edition!! Has a short throw on the pedal, shorter action than the stock act Baby by Dunlop but I like that actually. Work well through the pedal and faster. Super sick pedal. Stoked to get it. Was the only one on eBay!! ThanksRead full review...

Good pedal, poor battery door.

The GCB95 is apparently the same circuitry as the original Thomas Organ models.

Anyone who has used one knows what the upside and down side of this pedal.
The tone it produces is very useful if not overused when trying express yourself
while playing lead.

The build quality is better than the original, like the input jacks, etc.
The battery door is a good idea vs. taking off the bottom plate.
The downside of the battery door is that is made of plastic & can
Be broken easily.. Just check eBay items.

I have a Morley pedal also & usually prefer the crybaby.
Thanks Dunlop!

A quality classic wah pedal that gets the job done.

I'm a trumpet player who's been looking to add effects to my arsenal of sounds. I already have a multi-effects board, and wanted a stand-alone wah pedal. For some reason the Cry Baby name was familiar, plus the price was right, so I bought it.

It has a nice round to in open and closed position. The wah effect is subtle, and requires more front end gain than my combo board. It's great for guitar/bass, but only so-so for trumpet unless you add a boost to your mic.

Cool, classic effect. There is nothing quite like a Wah pedal.

I got mine used, pretty cheap. Cool, classic effect.
If you are a decent player, or not, you may want to consider buying one that has an LED indicator mod to show effect ON/OFF, and get one with TRUE BYPASS modification and popular TONE circuit modification.
EBay seller "sound_idea_mods" has all this.
For what I paid for mine I am quite happy with it, and I don't spend a lot of time playing for my own enjoyment at home (I am not very good). For better players, I'd get the mods.

Clapton and Hendrix

Two of the greatest guitarist of all time used this pedal. How can you go wrong with that? Mine works perfect I don't know if it's hot rodded or stock but it works excellent. I run my mini Vox AC30 plug in simulator into the Cry Baby and then into my computer interface to my Garageband DAW, I write neo psychedelic garage pop music and this fits the bill perfectly.

Peace!

Cool pedal I got too much hum with mine

this new cry baby guitar pedal was purchased to replace my old one just like it. It was replaced because of bad hum that it had. The issue with new one is the same hum so bad I can not use it. This situation leads me to think the source of hum is not the pedal but near by. Something is creating this very bad hum. When these pedals work they do sound cool. My advise here is to understand these pedals are likely to have hum in some places. I still can't find the source and have two pedals.Read full review...
