Classic, subtle phase pedal

At an MSRP of $130 new, this pedal is a bit pricey for a one trick pony. However, you'd be hard pressed to acheive the same signature sound from any multi-effects device. Other phase shifters may have more features, but they often go overboard with regard to the resulting processed signal. This pedal is actually 2 pedals in one; The newer MXR "Block" logo Phase 90, and with a push of a switch, it becomes the more subtle vintage "Script" logo Phase 90, which sounds like it mixes some of the input signal with the effect output. The great upgrade script logo Phase 90 Shifter

I used the "block print" version of the Phase 90 shifter for many years. After reading reviews about the advantages of the reissue Script Logo version I decided to try it. The difference in sound is obvious. The effect is very pleasant. More subtle, sweeter and warmer then the less expensive model. Worth to trade up, at least for my ears, my playing style and taste. I use it with an electric violin along with several other effects and the Phase 90 is turned on for most music I play. It's really an essential or even a secret weapon of my signature sound.

Excellent product. Very satisfied.

First of all I bought the MXR script phase 90 not the EVH. I bought this pedal,because I played on one in the 80's and loved the way it sounded with distortion. I have an Electro Harmonix small stone phase shifter. I like it very much,it sounds good playing clean, but with distortion on the midrange swell is a little much for my taste. Don't misunderstand the small stone is an excellent pedal,but I believe the MXR sounds better for heavy rock or metal. And it sounds good on a clean channel as well. Was the phase 90 standard pedal, not the EVH series

I bought this pedal and it works great out the box but these newer pedals have way too much midrange so I decided to do the R28 mod on it and now it almost has a vintage feel to it. The dial on the box is awesome because I like being able to adjust the rate of modulation during a song, lil tricky to do but im thinking about modding it with a volume pedal so it makes it easier.Read full review...

MXR Custom Shop Phase 90 CSP-026 '74 Vintage

The seller I bought this pedal from had the wrong title for this pedal, it's not the EVH phase 90 but what EVH would have used in the 70's. Bought the pedal for comparing to the actual script phase 90 and to the reissue phase 90. The pedal is like dead on to the original script the only thing it lacks in my opinion (like the original) is a status LED, true bypass, and a 9v ac plug. Otherwise a great pedal.Read full review...
