If you want metal, you'll get it.

I've used this pedal as my high gain pedal for a little while now. I've noticed it's extremely responsive to the knobs and its got a pretty high treble threshold. The built in noise gate is nice. The mid scoop is awesome for a punchy lead. MXR/Dunlop are my favorite pedal makers and that's the reason this is on my board. I've found that I don't use it as often as I'd thought for my kind of music but its a great pedal to own. I will say that when engaged the pedal is so high gain that there's a constant noise in the amp even with the noise gate engaged. This is not just the one I bought either because I've tried multiple pedals at differen guitar shops through similar (always a tube amp) and gotten similar results. If you're looking for a highly responsive high gain pedal then I do recommend this one. If you're looking for a quiet pedal, that's not metal so look at something different. I do recommend considering the gain of your amplifier first before this pedal as the organic sound of your amps gain will probably sound a lot better. Best f****** pedal on the planet for distortion.

Absolutely by far the best distortion pedal on the market. I'm very impressed with the tonal quality of the build and the sounds that you can obtain through this pedal. I have use a lot of distortion pedals in the past, and always looking for the one that just fit the best. This one is an absolute home run. Sweet pedal!

I can't say enough positive things about this pedal. Roll the guitar volume down a little, set the gain at 9 o'clock, and it sounds like a fat OD. Gain past noon and it starts to get crazy. 3 o'clock and hit the mid scoop and your face will melt like the guy in Lost Arc when they open the Arc of the Covenant. Pretty awesome for the casual Metal player.

I have a Peavy Classic 30 (Tube Amp), and when I play this through the Clean channel the sound is excellent. I am sure it would work great with most amps--even if they are solid state.
