Back to basics pedal

I was looking for a WAH, without all the bells and whistles, and this it. The range isn't very wide, but, the tones are very cool. It's great for slower swell type action, the more I use it, the more I Enjoy it.Read full review...

Classic 1970's sound

Yes, I recommend it - if you're looking for that classic '70s wah-wah, this is it.
Yes, it was a good value - I got exactly what was described which means I needed to do a little work on it to restore it to like new condition. I think it cost a total of around $6 for the new parts.
Yes, it's enjoyable - if you're looking for that classic '70s wah effect which I was. I've been playing guitar for over 45 years and in my mind if you're looking for a wah-wah pedal, the Cry Baby GCB-95 is still the gold standard. There are some players that complain about "tone sucking" from pedals like this because they don't use 3PDT switches (necessary for what's known as "true bypass") for switching the effect off. I had every intention of modifying this pedal when I got it to make it true bypass. I even bought the switch before it arrived! (a whole $4 more) I was very surprised and happy with the sound of the pedal in my chain and I don't notice any ill effects to the sound from my other pedals so I'm leaving it alone. FYI - I like my compressor first in the chain then the Cry Baby and everything else after that. All in all, I think most players will be happy with the "classic" sound of the Cry Baby and if not it's one of the easiest pedals to modify and cost very little to do so. You can also change out the inductor for about $20 if you feel like experimenting a little. I thought it was pretty cool back in the 70s and I still think the same now.

The undefeated, undisputed, undeniable Wah champion

Lets not get into the fact that since wah pedals began to surface in EVER guitarist arsenals back in the late 50's and early 60's, or that the first likes of Hendrix, Clapton, Young, Santana among others used the ORIGINAL Crybaby almost exclusively or that since then no other company or wah pedal can list the likes of Satriani, Vai, Dime, Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, Slash among MANY others as avid to exclusive users the ORIGINAL Crybaby is built like a tank and sounds AMAZING. It's the best built and greatest sounding wah of ALL TIME!!! Whether you play blues, jazz, rock, thrash, death metal or any other style of music that incorporates electric guitars and soloing it fits the bill and there's only a handful of products, of any kind, out there that can make that claim and have that distinction. It's sound molds into the player and visa versa, it is built to the highest standards and has few limits, if any, within the scope for which it was designed. How many products built that long ago are still around and STRIVING in the 21st century??? Think of all the technology available to us now and how this piece of equipment is still a must have. The thing is great, it's second to none and you can't go with the ORIGINAL which ALL others mimic and were built from it's mold!!!! NUF SAID!!!Read full review...

The Wah Standard

The peddle works as expected. The only drawback is the short range of motion. It’s easy to accidentally turn off the pedal, and makes it tougher to find tune your tone. Conversely, the short range also makes it easy to get the classic Wah sound. Read full review...

Range too narrow, no adjustments allowed

It does not have any adjustment features, and has a very narrow range.

I can't find the perfect spot for it in my chain. I tried placing it before my distortion (as would be ergonomic), and it was too subtle.

I tried placing it immediately after my distortion, and it acted more like a volume pedal.

I tried placing it right before my EQ, far away from my distortion, and again, it was too subtle.

I upgraded into the Ibanez Weeping Demon WD-7, and I was really impressed. For a price only $10 more, I have 5 adjustment knobs (2 are under the pedal), and the option of a springloaded wah, or traditional like the Crybaby. I was able to place the Weeping Demon before my distortion, and With the adjustment knobs, I was able to dial in the perfect range that I wanted for a wah.

"Dunlop Original Crybaby Wah-Wah Pedal GCB-95"

Great for funk, or reggae! Or if you're trying to get some rage against the machine tone! Maybe Jimi Hendrix lead guitar action? Well made, it's worth just buying a used one off e-bay.

Only way to go.

Been using Cry Baby for 50 years....yes I'm an old guy. But, been around the block enough times to buy the right stuff. No reason to buy anything else, spending any more money is just not recommended. I also like the fact I don't have to pull out the screwdriver to replace the battery. See, I told you I was old...Anyone have a dime for a phone call??Read full review...

makes noise while I play it but otherwise it is a great pedal.

Great pedal but it makes a buzz when I am using it. it also picks up radio signals so now i have a pedal that works like radio which is kind cool.

Its never better than the original!

What more can I say. This is an extremely versatile effect and the best thing about it is the wah can become a part of you. Its very expressive, soulful, touching, gritty, and as metal as you can get all at the same time. This wah has a fantastic sound for any type of music and has the ability to go anywhere fron Hendrix to Hammett and anywhere in between. Very highly recommened to any one in any type of music. Pick one up, step on it, and I can Guarantee you wont be disappointed.Read full review...

Great Buy!

I have always loved the old wah sound which is what led me to look for this particular pedal set. My friend has a GCB95 and i love it so i got myself one. Sure there are better higher end wah's out there but you can make a cry baby sound the same with a few simple mods ( fasel, true bypass) and you definitely cant beat the price. Shop Around for the wah that fits your style but if you looking for an awesome deal on a good product look no further than the GCB95Read full review...
