This is a great game to play through. Not much re-playability though.

If you liked Fallout 3, then you definitely have to play this game.

The game mechanics have had a lot of additions, such as:
-modifying weapons that you find with things like extended mags or scopes
-much more weapon choices
-you can have two companions at once, companions give perks
-additional currency types and enhanced trading

Overall, the game really has a lot of added features from Fallout 3. The biggest downfall for me was that you can no longer make your own weapons. However, being able to mod weapons somewhat makes up for this.

The story is a good one (whereas Fallout 3 was great). The DLC adds some nice content, that somewhat adds to the side stories in the game. This is an improvement from Fallout 3, where the DLC was almost completely separate.

The game still has some bugs..... most people complain that it has more. However, I have experience fewer bugs and game freezes than I did in Fallout 3. I only experienced one story line bug, that kept me from completing a quest line for the NCR. However, this could be a result of me taking over New Vegas myself, so not sure really.

The biggest disappointment for me, is that just like Fallout 3, the ending of the main quest stops the game. However, unlike Fallout 3, there is no DLC that allows you to keep playing the game.... booooo on that. This was a major complaint in Fallout 3, and so I would have figured that it would be fixed in Fallout New Vegas, but nope. So to get the full impact of all the DLC, you need to install it all at the beginning of the game. Play all the DLC before you go to the final fight.

It was good, but could have been better

I bought this product based on the fact that it was another Fallout game and I loved Fallout 3. The story line in this game has a couple good things about it; versatility in the sense that there are about 5 different ways you can control the final outcome, more weapons, and just a new environment. One of the more confusing things for me was the karma system and the like and dislike with each individual faction. That got confusing in the beginning when you weren't used to it, and stayed confusing when you have 10 different factions to worry about. The music is quite different than Fallout 3. Fallout 3 had a more upbeat style of old music and the DJ had an amazing personality, where as in this game the music is more mellow and the DJ just stays in touch with the news and makes a few puns with the names of the songs. This game was good, but it has some flaws that make it harder to play than Fallout 3Read full review...

Great game! It's just a little buggy.

This game was 'kinda' everything I was expecting but it in overall is still good to the point where I will probably never sell it just because of the mods and everything that can still be made for it. Anyways, to the review I would say as far as I am in the game I haven't encountered any 'major' bugs just little glitches here and there but a simple reload should help, as if you have played Fallout 3 you know that it'll always have it's 'moments' but like I said not a bad game just needs a little more time to improve but anyways as I said about mods if you did purchase it for the PC then go to the New Vegas Nexus and start downloaded :D as for me I got it for Xbox 360 because of my lame pc.

Pros:

New Ironsight edition for "war" gamers.

Most important part is the new weapon mods which I love.

I guess for one last 'pro' it's nice feel as I/We had in Fallout 3

And so..... Now for Cons.

Cons:

Still buggy as always but if you purchased it on pc, look up Unofficial Fallout New Vegas patch and it helps a lot. (Not out by the Nexus yet if you've heard of them or it but soon to come, there is also a look alike as you can say that acts like an/the unofficial Fallout: NV Patch.)

Not a vast improvement on facial features or graphics.

The schematics were removed that were used to make 'craftable' weapons which I kinda loved.

And so....

Overall like I said, I'll still always love Bethesda Games as they are my favorite so far.

Fallout New Vegas

Fallout 3 is one of the best RPG's I have ever played. Extremely fun, and providing an extensive world where you can mold your character into just about anything you want. It took years to perfect Fallout 3's game engine, ultimately resulting in a game strikingly similar to Oblivion.

When I saw Fallout New Vegas hit the shelves, I was excited as all getout. Unfortunately, not much has changed since Fallout 3. It's essentially the same exact experience. Weapons, armors, look, feel, character advancement, everything is identical. The only real difference is the storyline.

If you're looking to replay Fallout 3 with a different story, then I suggest Fallout New Vegas. Otherwise, just start a new F3 game and be done with it.

Other than that, it's a great game. :)

Its still a good game.

When i first picked up this game brand new from the gamestop down the road i was unsure that i would like it. I first started playing it and was instantly annoyed at how much like the first one it was and stopped playing after about 30 minutes. But i gave it a second chance like i have for someother games. Upon playing for a little longer i discovered a whole new waste land with many new friends, perils, weapons and secrets. I liked that is progresses the post apocalyptic world and shows the recovering process the world is going through. i love the new gangs and large band of men. beyond that of fallout 3's random towns with nothing in it.
i played this game two timess though once to explore and another to destroy. im sure there are many other ways to play this game but i was throughly satisfied with just utter destruction.
but if you are not into that there is a diverse web of story lines in which you can progress not only your own character but the npc's around you. you can convince other towns to love or hate you and react accordingly with that.
Overall this game is an 8 on a scale of ten. the only reason it gets 2 off the ten is because it is a little slow at times but i am sure that xbox will release many updates fixing all those "glitches" everyone is talking about. i really had no problem with only a hundred saves. really are you going to use every save file...no
anyways if you on the edge of getting this game, you should totally go for it. ..the end

Freezing, Clipping and Invisible walls

Ive played Fallout 3 on the 360, there were some issues with vats, freezing, landscape clipping but overall it was a very entertaining game in that I bought all the released DLCs that followed it.

I was expecting something new in New Vegas; riding a horse rather than walk/run or something like a small motorcycle, improved leveling, VATS improvement.. something that would make me say &now, thats what I am talking about ... well I take that back, the skills have improved, either you have the skill level or you dont, no more percentages thing.

Well theres the same drab landscape, the same-old thing where I am trying to get the crosshairs or true iron sights correctly on an object to activate it, open it up, unlock it or whatever, VATS is unchanged, a lot of stuff is unchanged from the last game, just a great many unneeded added things, like building ammo, building recipes and breakdown/build crap, personally I really dont care about being some errand girl to collect parts, like I want to spend actual playing hours looking for some xander root to make a cheapie healing powder. Id just kill something, collect caps and buy stimpacks

I noticed some ingame freezing but may happen anytime (had this with the last fallout 3 game) it may occur if you do not follow the storyline path and kind of explore around on your own, yet some areas still have not been patched with updates and then I am unable to complete certain mission and side missions, what to do, reload last save before mission started and restart again. Save Often.

Small jumping is the same, the thing I wanted to see was a climbing feature or something, rather than doing some sort of skip-hop my way up a hill; nope, the skipping uphill thing remains and on a terrain where its obvious to humans (human 360 players) where I can jump onto it, theres an invisible wall, theres lots of invisible walls, most can be manuevered onto, some cannot.

VATS is somewhat unchanged, e.g. Gunslinger perk, 100 gun skill and other helping bonuses, many times at a.. well not to close but at medium-close range I have 100 percent chance to hit a big friggin ram and miss it within my vats targeting but luckily its health is so weak, I can just manually punch it and kill it off that way (without VATS)

This game is somewhat disappointing in that there is nothing really new, yeah there are new stuff in this game but nothing thats wow, thats cool

If you played Fallout 3, its relatively the same except its in a desert and you get the opportunity to play card games - as far as DLCs go, the research center with the floating tvs is my favorite, the other dlc about the hotel is my least favorite.

Well, in this game I was taught how to pick a lock by moving the pick around with my thumbstick rather than just saving before, hitting the a-button and gambling on it unlocking and I was also shown how to fast travel by bringing up the pipboy and selecting a location on the map and here I was running everywhere, but still, something else for transportation would be helpful, like a three headed-horse or a tamed-deathclaw or a small robot-mutant-motorcycle would be handy.

Great Potential... Lost in execution

I loved Fallout 3. What a visionary game! From birth you follow your character out of a post-apocalyptic underground bunker-city (vault) into the wastelands of Washington D.C. The way the game played out was nearly flawless and the story is interesting and keeps you engaged.

Fallout: New Vegas does not live up to it's predecessor's glory.

The game starts interestingly enough. You are on your knees in front of a mean looking, funny-suit-wearing mobster-type who says a few cryptic things to you and promptly shoots you in the head. Cool, huh?

After you are dug up from your shallow grave and nursed back to health it is your passion to find out what the hell happened to you. Here's where the game begins to fall apart.

First of all, there are "new" things in this game. For instance, you can make aid from the ingredients you can collect (mainly plants, or animal parts). The problem is, there's plenty of aid for you to find, so unless you have an unexplainable desire to take immeasurably more time making your own "stim-packs" as it would take you to just find them, this is a useless feature. I never did it after the initial training mission. You can also make Ammo, but again, why bother?

Another new thing is faction reputation and disguises. That seemed really promising. How cool would it be to dress like a bad guy and walk into their camp to assassinate one of them? Sweet, right?

Wrong. Half of the guys you can dress up as see right through your disguises. If you are hated by their group, it means you get instantly shot at as if you just waltzed into their camp naked. The only thing the disguises are good for is fooling your allies into thinking you are an enemy. So they think you're someone else and they shoot at you, but then if you shoot back they somehow know it's you and you lose reputation with that group.

Great.

So there's the stuff that's different from Fallout 3. How about game play? Fallout 3: Game of the year edition was pretty solid. Not a lot of problems. So New Vegas should probably run off that engine and also be solid, right?

No. There are problems galore in game play. Bugs that you can find complaints about all over the web, so I won't get into detail, beyond just a list.

1). weapon disappears while holding it or appears at a funny angle.
2). Gameplay slows significantly when a lot of Non-player characters are on screen.
3). Game freezes requiring restart frequently.

Now the biggest problem with the game: STORY BUGS!!!!

The potential for this game to be an awesome addition to Fallout 3 is there. The story is really interesting: An enigmatic super mogul from before the nuclear war has managed to survive and rebuild a large part of Las Vegas. A society that has been thriving to the West (the new California Republic) is expanding territory and now holds Hoover Dam. A showdown with another society modeled after Ancient Rome is coming to a head at Hoover Dam, and New Vegas is integral to the result.

WOW, right?

The problem is, completing some missions tends to muddle up the results of other missions, and conversation options you think should be there, are not. It makes it so that you can somewhat follow the story that you are acting out, but it loses a lot of luster due to confusing interactions. It really puts a damper on the Role Playing factor of the game, which is my favorite part of FO3.

All in all, I was disappointed. If you have not played Fallout 3. Choose it instead of New Vegas.

Intensely Fun RPG Doesn't Deserve Mediocre Reputation - Best RPG of 2010

Fallout New Vegas was my favorite game hands down of 2010. I'd played for well over 100 hours total, Fallout 3 and thoroughly enjoyed that, so I expected Vegas to be epic. It doesn't dissapoint.
Leveling has improved since Fallout 3 where they no longer give you a perk every level, but once every two, which adds a lot more gravity to your choices, and the overall development of the character. There are dozens of different skilled players you can make. From melee weapon, and unarmed fighters (with unique moves unlocked for the skills at later levels), to decked out explosive or gun based characters, possibilities are seemingly endless.
Another aspect I love about the series is the ability to bring unique weapons and items back to your main dwelling, and "decorate" your house. Theres nothing better for a Fallout fan then after you've completed the majority of the game, to come back and set your house up with your trophies of play. And Fallout Vegas has many more places then Fallout 3 that you can call your home. Including 4 casino rooms, and a hideout for every main faction to unlock, and call your own (each faction hideout has a character there who will give items, or perform special skills for the player).
But the main draw for me is the epic story line. You start after being shot in the head and left for dead, and emerge into the Mojave Wasteland to discover a culture and history rich with intrigue, and information. Make your choices concerning the fate of New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland, with a story that branches nicely, and adds true importance to the decisions you make.
If this wasn't enough add-ons are steadily being released, and I've thouroughly enjoyed them thus far. I personally didn't find the bugs to as big of an annoyance as articles I've read online. I may hve had 2 or 3 times total when I had to restart. And otherwise the only other bugs I've seen are a couple times a scorpion got caught in the graphics on the ground. But these were minor and didn't take away from the experience.
I don't think Vegas has gotten the reputation it deserves, as one of the best rpgs out there today. And I'm shocked to see the value of this game plummet so drastically as it has. It doesn't make sense to me. I mean dollar to hour value is insane with this game. But I suppose it's a good thing for people who can't afford to buy a lot of games, with starting prices tags of 60 dollars, at least they can pick up Vegas and have an outstanding post-apocolyptic experience. If you haven't played it, or haven't been sure about trying the series, buy this, you won't regret it.

360 CLASSIC:

Well I'm new to the Fall Out series but I have been collecting 3rd person 360 games for the past 6 months or so (I'm up to about 50 or so titles in the 3rd person format alone.)
And I must say though technically a 1st person game with a 3rd person camera option this game does everything well enough to be almost as games like: GTA IV and V, Fable 2, and Skyrim
Fall Out 3 is good too but everything Fall Out 3 does well New Vegas does just a bit better
In my opinion this was Bethesda's missing link between oblivion and Skyrim
I highly recommend it

Worth buying

Great game... so good that I bought it twice for my dad because the first DVD chipped and cracked from the center outwards due to the case damaging it. Majority of ppl say New Vegas is better than Fallout 3, but I personally think Fallout 3 was slightly better. Realistically though, they're both great games worth buying.Read full review...
