Is it Worthy of Fantastic?

This is a very good movie...if you like this type of movie. I love comic movies so I was very happy when
I heard that the "4" were getting their chance on the big screen. I am old enough to remember the fiasco that was released in the 80's and had high hopes for this movie to be better..seeing the greatness that the Spidey and Xmen movies had been. I was not disappointed. the story is good the acting...leaves a little bit of a bad taste in the mouth. That is my only complaint on this movie. The Johnny Storm character is perfect..the actor portraying him captured him perfectly. The actor playing Ben Grimm,, ehhh not all that great...though I'm sure it wasn't easy to show acting ability through all the costume and makeup. But the worse had to be J. Alba..horrible rendition of Sue storm..and it really didn't improve in the second movie either. This DVD has some really cool extras and commentary which make it worth owning..

The question is...is it fantastic? NO, it's not...is it good? YES..The effects and some of the acting make this movie very entertaining and do a good justice to these beloved characters.

If you can find a good deal..and are a fan of the comic characters..then I highly recommend this movie ( although the 2nd of the series is muuuuuch better)But if you are looking to be "blown away" then you best just rent this one.

Almost Fantastic!!!

Marvel does a great job once again with bringing the Fantastic Four back to life. The movie has a great cast and some awesome special effects. The story is basically just character development and getting to know the Fantastic Four. There are a few scenes where the team actually gets to help people but not many. And of course there is a big villain battle with Dr. Doom so it almost makes up for not having so many hero action sequences. If nothing else, this film is a great setup for the rest of the series to follow. A must have for Fantastic Four fans but not necessarily for comic book fans in general. You should still check it out though. 4/5Read full review...

Fantastic Four Mini Review (No Spoilers)

Reed Richards is a very talented scientist seeking the funding for a space experiment. Along with his friend and partner Ben Grimm, he goes to businessman Victor Von Doom and manages to get his support. So, Reed and Ben, along with Doom, his partner Sue Storm and her brother Johnny, find themselves aboard Doom's private space station. However an accident will flood the station with cosmic rays and Reed, Ben, Sue and Johnny will gain amazing powers thus becoming the Fantastic Four. But, the four of them aren't the only ones affected by the cosmic rays
An excellent movie that will watch many times.

Fantastic Four

Long time comic book fans like myself will probably have mixed feelings about this movie. While the special effects were excellent (never thought they could pull off the human torch the way they did), I hate it when they depart too much from comic history. Having Dr. Doom go up into space with them when the cosmic rays gave them their powers was an unnecessary change not to mention Doom receiving powers from that incident. Other changes like Alicia being portrayed as being black and Ben being married at the time of the space flight were okay but I could've done without them. The action was good although a little slow to develop (although I realize this was probably a necessary evil in an origin story)Read full review...

Michael Chiklis Is The THING And Proud Of It !

Michael Chiklis Is The THING and Proud of It !

Michael Chiklis was born 1963 in Lowell, Massachusetts and grew up in Andover Massachusetts. His Greek American paternal family was from the Greek island of Lesbos.

Michael Chiklis went to New York City early in his career, and is more widely known for starring in two popular, but highly different, police television series: The Commish (1991–1995) and The Shield (2002—).

In 2005 he starred in Fantastic Four comic book movie as The Thing and will be returning in 2007 for the sequel. A fan of the comic book series, he informed his brother Peter when he was 18, that if there was ever a movie made of the Fantastic Four, he would play Ben Grimm, who is the alter ego of the Thing.

I am a life long fan of the Fantastic Four, starting with issue #3 back in 1962. At one time I had a complete collection of the FF comics, including the other comic book series starring the individual members in solo series, such as the Human Torch in Strange Tales, the Thing in Marvel Two-In-One, etc. The Thing is my favorite comic book character and I closely identified with him in my formative years.

At the 2004 SDCC, (San Diego Comic Con International), I was privileged to attend the first public presentation of the newly signed actors that were to play the FF in the movie.

I was delighted to see that Michael Chiklis was chosen to play the Thing. He definitely looked like Ben Grimm from the comics, and the audience was told that the Thing would not be CGI like the Incredible Hulk in the earlier Hulk movie. I figured the character of the Thing would be well presented. I was pleased that the Thing costume was made to look like the early Thing of the 1960's, it looked better on Chiklis.

This movie was a lot better than I thought it would be, considering who was behind the scenes in making the movie, and I am proud to be an owner of this DVD !!

Wonderful Movie!

I was really suprised how much I enjoyed this movie. It has a little of everything from comedy, romance, and of course action. I have never read the comics but this movie does a wonderful job of explaining everything so you are not lost at all while watching it. The acting was wonderful. Both my husband and me enjoyed it greatly, and I think it would be good for a family movie also. The extra features were good but I was disappointed in the X3 special feature (I really didn't get anything out of it other than there is going to be an X-Men 3 movie coming out). I would suggest to watch this movie to just about anyone. Two thumbs way up!Read full review...

I bought this movie for my family to watch because they thought it looked good. I was not sure that it would be any good at all and my daughter doesnt like many movies. well i got it and the entire family really enjoyed this movie and it was filled with alot of action and even my daughter and i even liked it .the best thing with the movie is that it shows that even if everybody arent the same doesnt mean that they all cant become friends and work with each other.Read full review...
