Minor drawbacks but still better (for me) than the Charge HR or Garmin

This replaces a Charge HR that went into the pool with me--just a minute was all it took to die. I tried a Garmin but the measurement of floors walked was bizarre (would take minutes or hours to catch up, if it did) and it would only sync with a phone (I have to use a laptop and/or desktop computer).

This Charge 2 so far (a few weeks) has been great with a few minor issues. Still not waterproof like the Garmin or the Fitbit Flex (which is useless to me because it doesn't have a display), it at least seems to better tolerate a few splashes and my sweat--but the rubber wrist band makes my wrist sweat up a storm, even without a workout, and I developed a heat rash after just a week, which I hadn't after six months with the Charge HR. This band must be wiped down (if not rinsed off too) after each workout. (Thankfully there are both nylon and metal bands available from third parties on Amazon and eBay.)

The heart rate monitor seems just as accurate as the HR, and the floors seem better counted. The additional features like different workouts, "relax" sessions and such are an improvement. Still haven't figured out what some of the additional measurements are yet, but I like that it offers (optional) reminders to get up and move.

Other negatives are that while I got it to sync with my iMac after quite a bit of wrangling (and contacting customer service, who basically told me that "syncing" is different than "setup" and I needed to do the latter if replacing another model) but still no luck with my HP laptop (I can still only choose one or the other, but I tried the HP first with no luck; will try again with customer service). Minor negative--I use stairs for my regular workout and this does not include numbers of floors climbed for the workout, whereas the HR did. So I just have to note the floors before and after the workout and do the math--no biggie, but a minor hassle.

My Charge HR started warping around the connection of the band and unit after just a few months; hopefully this one is better designed.

Not exactly the features I had hoped for.

It doesn't give as much information as I had hoped without a paid subscription. It does not accurately measure sleep for me. If I am awake for hours but stay still, it believes I am in a light sleep. I purchased this mostly to keep me informed on my sleep patterns so it is somewhat of a disappointment. If you are interested in your heart beat per minute and number of steps taken in a day, that seems accurate and helpful.Read full review...

Keeps my on my toe

I'm so glad I purchased the Fitbit Charge2. It has great features to motivate me to be active through out the day. I have a desk job and I 'm already noticing a change in my activities. I took away 1 star because they have not been able to make Charge 2 water proof. It can take sweat/light rain but I read on their support page that this was not meant for swimming or while taking showers ( which their other cheaper fitbits are able to do)Read full review...

A good step forward from 1st gen product

Overall, I like this 2nd generation Fitbit Charge HR.
The display is brighter than 1st gen Charge HR.
The battery lasts longer.
The connector to charger is more secure.
The "2" seems a bit more water resistant, although I'm hesitant to try.

What I'm not so keen on is the larger size of the Charge 2. The device is longer and thicker on the wrist.
To make matters worse, the thick, long sides of the Charge 2 are lined with shiny silvery metal. I preferred the less obtrusive size/shape of Charge 1.
Nonetheless, I think there are enough advances in the Charge 2 over the Charge HR 1 that I'll keep wearing it. If Fitbit could only make keep the Charge 2's positive features but in a thinner, less obtrusive body.... Maybe that will happen with the Charge 3.

Keeping with my exersize and healthier habits, like this thing

I started with the Charge, first gen. A friend of mine showed me his Charge2, what it recorded and broke down and bought one. It keeps record of sleep patterns, heart rate, steps, and a bunch more. r>One thing I noticed is the inaccuracy of sleep. I don't sleep much...maybe 4 hours/night but noticed, only sometimes the accuracy of my sleep had shown less that what could have possibly been. This has only happen, maybe a couple times.
I do like the feature of it recording my sleep patterns as well. (percent deep sleep, awake, restless, and REM)
I recommend this if you want to keep up with your activity like I've started to do. Read full review...

It works !!!

The Fitbit Charge 2 is very easy to setup and simple to use. it is being used by my father and he really loves it. It is easy enough for him to use and manage it. It syncs up easily with his android phone. He uses it to track his daily activities. it is light enough and comfortable for all day wear. The battery lasts a good week with out having to recharge. Windfall

I originally purchased this Fitbit as a Christmas present for my wife. The large size proved to be too large for my wife's wrist. Instead of returning it for a small size, I kept it and purchased another one for my wife. I've only been using it for one day; So far, so good. As for accuracy, I rated it a yes, but I haven't used it long enough to give an informed rating.Read full review...

Happy Charge 2 Guy

I really like the brighter readout that the Charge HR did not have. I like the way it presents the time and your steps together. The wristband seems like it will hold up better and you can order other colors. It holds a charge for days and recharges within 15-60 minutes depending on how much battery life you have. When I am down 1/4, 15 minutes does it. Very happy with the Charge 2.Read full review...

Great functions and details

This is a great way to keep track of your daily exercise and your everyday activities. The caller ID and text monitoring are a great feature as well. A nice improvement over their original design. Download the app and keep track on your smart phone or computer.Read full review...

Weight loss motivator

Tracking steps per day while monitoring heart rate has turned my goal for weight loss in the right direction. Changing to a leather band has eliminated any comfort concerns. Pairing with an inexpensive smart scale has worked great so far. Lots of additional features to learn but that is key to maintaining my interest in new devices.Read full review...

Very Useful for Exercising

Many of the features are very helpful in monitoring my body's response to exercise. The sleep data also is helpful, even if it sometimes is inaccurate.
It would be nice to have the option to leave the unit on to continuously monitor heart rate.
Instructions for use are mediocre, at best. I learned its use more by trial and error than by the instructions I downloaded from the net.
