M-8x2

The unit is fins, I just thought it was ALSO a Power Conditioner... so I ordered the wrong device, but I kept it because it is useful and was a great deal.

Good basic power conditioner. Does what it's supposed to do quietly, without hesitation.

Solid power protection for your critical equipment at a decent price

Furman's Merit series provides quality power protection at a lower price point. The M-8X2 is a solidly built power conditioner that filters spikes and line noise and protects from surges, in a compact 1U rackmount unit with an all-metal enclosure. Convenience features include a front-mounted outlet and three outlets spaced for wall-wart AC adapters.

One other great feature: They're quiet! I used to use APC battery backup/power filters but their constant AC humming was audible in my studio environment. I got two of these M-8X2s to replace them, and I'm not missing the battery backup function so far.

Note, if using more than one unit in a rack, you may want to place the units at the top of the rack and provide 1-2U of space between them to accommodate AC adapters, so they don't block other outlets or devices; regular line cords are not a problem.

If you're looking for pro-level protection and to avoid ground loops in your audio gear, you can look at Furman's Classic Series PL-8C, which includes 2 isolated outlet banks and super-fast shutdown/overvoltage sensing (for those times you accidentally plug into 240V...), but if you don't need those features, the M-8X2 does a remarkable job for home studios and gigging musicians, at 1/3 of the price.

Budget Conditioner

It is what it is. Bought it for a low dollar PA build. No special features, just conditions power. The price was right!
