ONE--HELL--OF--AN--RPG--GAME!!- -A--MUST--HAVE!!---

Published by: Crave Entertainment
Developed by :Ascii
ESRB: RP

Players: 1

Da Introduction:

Waking up in a strange room, with no recollection of who you are, is never fun. Take it from me, this happens to me every weekend! Just kidding. In Crave's Galerians, you play a 14-year-old boy named Rion, who finds himself in this kind of situation. Your memories are stripped from your mind, but they're replaced with a handful of psychic abilities that would make Carrie or the boys from Scanners sit up and take notice. Through mind-altering drugs, you're able to replenish and change your psychic powers in order to complete your mission, which consists of finding out who you are, and stopping your evil captors before they change the world with their diabolical experiments.

Da Graphics:

Who said the Playstation is dead? Galerians is a great example of what can be achieved on this older generation console. The backgrounds are beautifully rendered and smooth. The in-game characters are well detailed, they move fluidly, and they never get too close to your view, avoiding a blocky and pixilated appearance. The cut-scene movies, which are littered throughout the game, are a pleasant reward for the long hours of gameplay. The movies are graphically wonderful and very true to the animation found in an anime flick. Unfortunately, some of the perspectives become tedious to negotiate, and movements from one place to another can be frustrating. For example, while moving from one part of a room to the next, camera angles can change, and you may find yourself wondering if the door in front of you was the one you saw from the last shot. It can also be hard to tell if your facing the right direction when encountering an enemy, which may end up costing you some hit points, or worse, it may kill you.

Da Sound:

The music during the introduction is very addictive and fits in well with the flashing montage video sequences throughout the opening. The techno-grind ties in nicely with the exuberant action. I found myself singing the opening theme while in the shower on several occasions; much to the dismay of my neighbors I'm sure. But there's nothing in the way of background music while you explore around. It would be more interesting if there were some sort of thematic musical accompaniment, something with a thriller bite to it (no I'm not talking about Michael Jackson) keeping you on your toes.

The rest of the sound effects are fairly standard. Your feet clank on the metal floor while you explore your way through the corridors and doors open with the swish hydraulic sounds (similar to those of Star Trek) that we've heard in other games. Mechanical devices bleep and blip-yadda yadda. I have mixed reviews about the voice acting. The younger characters, like Rion, are well spoken and convincing. But the acting by the adult characters is somewhat laughable and not very compelling. But this ties in well with the standard over dubbing we hear in most anime flicks that have hit the North American market, so it can be brushed off without too many worries.

Galerians for PS1

The Galerians series started as a series of Japanese novels and in 1999 was finally made into a video game for PS1..It tells the tragic story of a 16 year old boy named Rion Steiner in the year 2522 and his struggle against a world gone mad and a evil super computer named Dorothy.

Although he wins the struggle with her he is killed in the end.

The Galerians saga doesn't end there though..in 2000 a series of 20min shorts Galerians is released in Japan on 3 DVDs and in 2001 a full length Anime movie Galerians Rion is created and broadcast on MTV as a network television premier in 2001 but sadly it is only shown for a week then never airs on U.S. TV again.

In 2002 a sequel game to Galerians..Galerians Ash is developed continuing the Galerians saga for the new PS2. Although the game is stunning in graphics it was obviously rushed in it's development and left many things out of the story of it.

In 2004 the Anime movie Galerians Rion is finally released on DVD,VHS, and PSP but sadly it is discontinued in 2006 and now only found on ebay and amazon.com.

Why I purchased this game was to see what it's like and it's playability factor and I wasn't disappointed in it at all the only troubling factors are that Rion continues to gain ever close to shorting even when doing such things as examining objects, Another is the bosses..The first 2 are the hardest and it is very difficult to beat but if mastered it can be done in about 5 hours.

Another reason I purchased it was I had long enjoyed the film Galerians Rion but had no idea it was based off of a video game for the PS1. My first Galerians game was Galerians Ash and I enjoyed that but after playing Galerians for PS1 I realized that several key scenes were left out of the movie Galerians Rion and they appear in the game thus by far giving owners of the game a more fuller perspective on the Galerians saga than just viewers of the Anime film Galerians Rion.

If anyone wishes to create a Galerians Anime series than please join the Galerians Anime series petition at

wwww.petitiononline.com/Galerian/petition.html

Thanks to the growing support of Galerians fans it gets new signers daily. Won't you please join it. Thanks for reading this review and please sign the Galerians Anime petition at www.petitiononline.com/Galerian/petition.html

We mustn't let such a good story quietly die off amongst the shadows.

Resident Evil on steroids with psychic powers!

This game is one of the best survival horror games I have ever played. Been looking for it for years and couldn't find it until now. I remember as a kid how much fun this game was. It's a shame they didn't continue to make more, it probably would have surpassed Resident Evil. Who knows, maybe in the future, under better game developers, this game may rise again.Read full review...

The Best PSONE Game !

The reason why I bought this game is because its such an addicting and fun game to play. I had bought this game in 2000 when I used to own a PSONE. I had this game for so long but the third disc ended up getting lost and I couldnt pass the game. The discs were getting old and kept freezing on me a lot. So I decided to buy a new copy. Amazing price and the new discs were very clean and scratch free and didnt give me any problems. Thanks again.Read full review...

Galerians PlayStation PS-One R-Rated Adventure Game

This Galerians Game for Playstation One, worked with my Playstation 3, booted up, & played until before I got to the save game level, It stalled & froze there. It is due to it being Compac-Disc, like all of them, unprotected. They will get scratches if not cared for properly. It can be fixed though, If you buy a good Game scratch remover. I am going to fix it. Doesn't seem to be really bad scratches, either. I wanted to own the original Game Discs, because I am a big fan for Galerians. I gambled and bought me one real cheap. I will buy a Sealed Brand-New Package of this game some time near future to, because it's great to have original of this game.

Thank you.
