Nice no-nonsense replacement to my Forerunner

My old Forerunner was starting to malfunction and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a replacement with a bunch of features I wouldn't use, so I looked for a first generation Instinct and actually found one new, in box. It hasn't disappointed. Certainly, it doesn't have a couple features I used on my Forerunner, but it has everything I need for running and monitoring my heart rate. It is also a lot more rugged looking than the Forerunner which reminds me of my old Casio G shocks I wore during my days in the military. It is very user friendly and has enough built in faces to choose from. I could have went after a used Fenix or Forerunner, but the Instinct 1 is plenty for what I need. Read full review...

Love, Love, Love

This watch is amazing. I charged it the night it arrived and the first bar of battery lasted 8 days. I don't use the GPS or the workout modes as of yet but I love having notifications discretely delivered to my watch, especially when I'm at work and official smart watches aren't allowed but I can get away with mine because it doesn't look like a traditional smart watch. The step tracking seems a little higher than my previous tracker of a different brand (but I've had the Garmin Vivofit 2 before that tracker) and the sleep counting says I'm asleep when I'm just in bed reading or on my phone but sleep tracking isn't super important to me.
Even if you never use the workout modes or the GPS but just want a durable looking smart watch without all the touchscreen swipes, I recommend it.

Great watch with great features. Heart alert High and Low Range

Love it, going from a fitbit2, then to a disappointment of a shuuno, now using this garman instinct. This watch does exactly what I need and keeping track of my heart is helping with my health issues, LOW Range alerts and High range alerts both you can set yourself.

Plus the navigation is pretty good if your used to the old style of Garmin hunting tools.

Battery life is also extremely good. Well over 7days in from first charge, and a couple of GPS tracked activities and still over half charge.

At around 100$ great buy!

Rugged and simple

Pros:
Ruggedness
Heart Rate monitor
Looks
Customization of activities
GPS

Cons:
Music cannot be put on it and leave phone at home
Sensor is in next to the skin on the bottom side, the barometric pressure can be thrown off, the temperature will be wrong if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt.

I have had it for over a month and wear it everyday. I have the ultratrac on so it only uses the gps when I start an activity saving the battery. I am charging it every 10-14 days. I use the gps at least every other day.

Garmin Instinct

Great watch for the money. It's rugged, lightweight, has all the essential features I need, and was easy to use straight out of the box. Same goes for the associated Garmin mobile app.

Great Buy

This is the perfect blend of a running watch and a hiking watch while still being affordable. So many features it’s crazy. Wears really light on the wrist, battery life is good so far (roughly 2 weeks), The heart rate sensor can be a little erratic but that’s to be expected. To me this is the sweet spot in a smart watch. Some smart features but still a very functional, long lasting watch.Read full review...

Fantastic Garmin

I own a Fenix 5x, I actually like the instinct better. The screen has more contrast, its lighter and indestructible and has many of the features of the 5x. Only negative cant add any Garmin connect apps. Highly recommend this watch at over 1/2 less price wise.Read full review...

Really happy with my watch!

Showed up in the box, looked good. It's not the newest model but it has all the features I need, and some I still need to learn how to use. Once I downloaded the app it opened up a ton of other cool stuff.Read full review...

No Garmin Iq

Same as my Fenix 3, but has a fairly accurate HR feature. Easily connects to other sensors NOT made by Garmin. Can't add other bells & whistles available from IQ AND it only blue tooths to a smart phone: won't connect to your Wi-Fi network. Very rugged! Also fits my very small wrist. Read full review...
