Nice GPS, meets my needs!

I bought this used and didn't get an instruction book, but was so easy to use, that none was needed. It takes a little while to find a tower and seems to give me the shortest route, not always the best route. I have had continual disappointment with this unit as long as I've had it. When I travel from state to state, I have to stop the car, figure out how to change states, and manually advise the unit that I'm in a new state. It loses satellite contact frequently and sometimes can't find the satellite at all. I have lost the connection in the middle of Des Moines, Iowa and Rockford, IL, both large metro areas. Also, to upgrade the maps costs more than I paid for the original unit, so I am still using the 2012 maps that came on the unit. The touch screen doesn't work well either.Read full review...

I am quite pleased with the purchased of the Garmin nuvi 1100.

I purchased this Garmin for 3 reasons. One reason is because it came with lifetime map updates, its small size and reasonable price. So far I've been pleased with the purchase. If I were to have one complaint it would be that at times it takes it awhile to pick up a satellite signal, but I've also experience this with other portable GPS's as well so that has not been a big problem. It was not that useful.

I needed a GPS for Germany. After we landed there we were informed our rental car was upgraded with an onboard GPS. Comparing to the onboard one, 1100 is missing many addresses in Germany, and takes a long time to find satellite signals there. Several times 1100 lost satellites when we were driving. i have recently bought from an ebay seller from the us, all i have to say, is that it was a good experiance, doing so,
as about the garmin nuvi gps receiver, i have to say, that i use it often becouse here in malta, they change the street names very often, and i find it very useful, i bought european maps from garmin.com website, and it is very good, same has very good and clear voice, and very accurate, the only thing there is with the gps receiver is that it takes a while to pick up signal, but as all with other users said most gps do,it is not a big issue, beaouse it only takes a while,
all in all it is a very good piece of equipment i would recommend it to anyone with closed eyes.Read full review...

This is a great little gps for the money. Very basic and easy to use. Very quick to search all of the surrounding restaurants and gas stations. It is small enough to hide on the dash. Love it!!

I purchased this GPS because I was looking for an affordable, reliable, and accurate GPS that didn't need a P-H-D to operate. The display is clear and straight forward enough to understand while driving, while the audio directions are clear to understand. Features like the fuel estimation and location finders are pretty handy. Storing favorite locations makes repeat trips easy to do without reprogramming each time. I am very pleased with the operation and update accuracy of the Garmin. This thing is actually pretty great. It is much more accurate than my speedometer. When I am at 90 by my speed, I am doing 106 by GPS, verified it with another unit to make sure. It measures my gas usage by telling it how many miles to gallon I get in town and highway, tells you what you have spent while driving...Pretty Cool!!!!!Read full review...
