Great GENERATOR 3.5kva noisy under load just hide behind bushes, 31kg, with great features

We required a 3.5kva generator to be able to perform when running our caravan air conditioner (start up with the fan first then switch to aircon ) which happily it did well, but I did have a sense that the higher the load on the generator the nioser it got. Previously I connected a hair drier then a circular saw.
The noise was there but you wont run it for hours anyway and you only use it when you go camping and put it behind the bushes to quieten the noise.
We will use it properly easter next weekend but all in all happy so far, it starts first or second go. In the manual for first fuel start it does say pull cord for about 20 times which I can understand to get fuel though the system. There is also weight factor of about 31kg when all oil and fueled up.

Good price and delivery, but very noisy generator

I have run this generator for my motorhome to give it a good test. It runs a Heron 3.0 aircon, 800W microwave and the 12/240V 80l fridge easily but has a considerable noise problem. I got 63db no load, 68db at the load listed above. This is way too noisy for a campsite unless you are the only people there. I suspected this would be the case when I purchased, but was willing to do some work to rectify as the price was worth it. First modification was to strip the casing down and fully line the inside of the case and some hard plastic internal mouldings with bituminous flashing tape then spray that with under body sound deadener. I made sure all ventilation holes were clear, reassembled and retested. Didn't have the sound meter this time but the improvement is considerable. Will consider a better muffler in the future but for the moment I'm putting together a sound deadening enclosure that will keep it safe and less of a noise problem. The effort was definitely worth it as to buy a really quiet unit would cost about 4 times more, my mods cost $30 plus time. I also suspect the fuel consumption is higher than stated as after an hour at above load (only ran 800W microwave for 10 minutes) the fuel tank was at about 2/3. Unit was in economy mode and aircon cycled a couple of times. If the unit continues to work for a reasonable life it will have been a good purchase but to claim super quiet and "out of the box suitable for camping" is not quite true unless as I said there is no-one else around to complain about the noise.Read full review...

Good looks, steady power, and excellent value formoney

Looks and ability to do what it's advertised to do go hand in hand, and it's considerable weight indicates quality components. Output is as advertised and does the job, even more than I expected. Good value and a recommended buy for campers and a boon for when the power supply goes phut!Read full review...

Plenty of power just a bit noisy if you had neighbours.

Used the generator while free camping for a continuous 2 hours. The unit is noisier than I was hoping but in not too intrusive in our circumstance. If we had had neighbours on that side of the van it could have been an issue. We were able to use the microwave to heat milk and the electric stove element for the espresso maker at the same time without issue.Read full review...

Better than Expected

I already had a similar 1.9kva for a few years and it worked reliably but needed a bigger version to run our house and deep well pump. The 1.9kva simply couldn’t start or run our pump when the power went off. I tried a mates Honda EU22i and it did it but was pretty close to is capacity and revved pretty hard. Thought I’d try this Gentrax based on reviews and price. Ran it in, did an oil change and no problem running the pump and large fridge at the same time. Not as quiet as the Honda and not as easy to start (Honda needs a single very gentle pull, even a kid was able to start it for me) but runs well, quiet enough and does the job. If you’re not sure about this or the Honda, you’ll never be disappointed buying a Honda but this is also up to the task and has a bit more power. Read full review...

Would highly recommend.

Strong, sturdy design. Plenty of power and excellent value. I searched around for quite a while for an inverter generator and this one was the best value for money. Super easy to use and maintain. So happy I bought it.Read full review...

The GenTrax 3.5 kVA

The GenTrax generator has been an excellent unit meeting all my demands running lighting , a jug , toaster and battery chargers .
Its very fuel efficient and not to bad on the ears as well , have found it to cover all my demands easily on economy mode , not to mention its compact size and easy starting and warm up.

it is everything they claim it to be.

I have personally found this generator to be the best of 4 different types I have bought of the same/similar size and power. Totally agree with the advertised claims of not all generators being what they claim to be. This generator has never been lacking in power. I live off grid and require the use of a generator every day. I have been using this generator for an average of 4hrs a day, for over 365 days without a problem. Couldn't recommend it more highly.Read full review...

Great generator and lighter weight for its capacity than I was suspecting.o.

We keep our fingers crossed that this generator will not be needed but it is essential kit when travelling the back roads as a "just in case".
We have used it at home when the power supply is off and works for hours really well.
Way cheaper than all the other brands.

Limited use review

The generator was easy to start if the directions were followed. It took far more pulls than it stated but when it fired up it was right on song straight away. Portable power tools worked very well from the power points. The unit is relatively quiet and did not disturb the neighbours. Subsequent starts were easier but be sure to follow instructions. I start the generator once a month and run tools from it. I purchased the generator in case of bleach outs so that I could run my refrigerators but luckily no blackouts yet.
I would recommend this generator to anyone considering one and have no reservations in doing so.

Good value, easy to operate portable generator.

Works well with small appliances (which is what I bought it for). Don't expect it to power high energy consumption appliances. I connected my large upright freezer which is old and not very energy efficient just to see if it could handle it, It couldn't. But it will work fine with smaller appliances. It's easy to start and is very light, so easy to move around.Read full review...
