Great little lens to keep the camera compact for travel
Small compact lens, quick focus & sharp enough image for travel.

Good starter lens, but not value for money
This is a good starter lens if you're trying to learn photography. It has Autofocus, OSS, decent aperture and enough zoom for you to experiment with. A brand new piece will set you back about AUD 199 which is a bit steep for a kit lens. If you intend to dive deeper into the realm of photography, there are better options in the AUD 199-300 range which IMO are better value for money than this lens. That being said, if you can get this lens second-hand for cheaper (under AUD 100) I would recommend getting it as that to me seems more like the value of this lens.Read full review...

I'm a pro, and this lens is reliable for everyday photos, even for my standards.
After being employed in an agency, I suddenly didn't need my freelance photographic gear. So I sold it and sought to downsize my kit.
So I went straight to this cheap little lens so I could have a high-quality mirrorless setup for day-to-day photos.
A year on, and it's completely satisfied everything I could have asked for this price. It's tiny and EXTREMELY compact, it's durable enough that the motorised elements have not failed a year later, and it's impressively sharp. I have show all sorts of photos (including sunsets) and have had no issue with how it handles bloom, contrast etc. It's excellent.
I would absolutely recommend this lens. It's fantastic. Read full review...

Good inexpensive lens.
Basic kit lens but gives you from wide angle 16mm to portrait ready 50mm. While not as good as a prime lens, it's a big step up from compact cameras and good for run and gun photography.

great as long as image quality is not the aim of the game
Bought because i needed a zoom lens but didn't want to compromise the size of the Sony 5n camera.
Unfortunately in not compromising the size i think i've compromised the image quality, the lens isn't great, but then i am extremely picky (the 10-18mm is awesome, i use canon L series lens as my main system too) - while it still offers a nice control over the depth of field i think if this was to be your only lens you'd be better served by a sony RX100 or fuji x20.
It is good for video, the stabilizer works well and having the zoom toggle on the lens is nice - it's also good for my wife who has trouble getting her head around not being able to zoom with a prime lensRead full review...
