GoPro Hero 2

Since getting my Hero 2, I really love it. The video quality is superb and I loved using time lapse photography on it to capture the night sky. The only thing I didn't like was that the case it came with hat a scratch in it that you can see in the picture so I bought a new one. After using it, the main benefit to getting the Hero 3 or 4 is the fact that they are WiFi enabled. So if you wanna save some money, get the Hero 2 because the quality is superb and it's nice and simple. I would definitely recommend this product. Read full review...

I like the GoPro, I just need to learn to use it properly.

I haven't had much chance to use it. The one time I did, it didn't turn out too good, through no fault of the GoPro. I used it at night without extra lighting. I'm still learning.

Great Camera, Great Buy!!

First of all, the construction of this camera is quite sturdy. A solid feel to the housing is impressive. Second, the size and weight is very user friendly, takes up very little space for my specific use (FPV) on my aerial vehicles. Button operations organized quite well, menu access is adequate and practical for navigating through all functions.
Video quality is great from narrow medium and wide angle shots give you a wide range of FOV options to achieve shots you are looking for. Various resolution settings are nice and will accommodate most all video settings you will ever need. Battery life is more than adequate to fill up my memory card far before my battery needs charging (32 gig on mine). but it depends on resolution and settings. The water proof enclosure is great (although I will probably not need it) and the mounting bases come in handy when needed. Overall, It's a Great Buy!!

Fantastic camera. Great for filming action and anything outdoors. Amazing+!

I bought this camera for general outdoor filming and it's been fantastic overall. I've only had this camera for a few weeks but I'm already in love with it.

Out of the box, this camera is really easy to use and get started with right away...but I highly recommend reading the instructions first as they contain a lot of important information and also really helpful tips that will make your usage experience even better.

The battery life is about what you'd expect based on the size of the camera...it lasts for about 2 hours of pure filming, plus whatever charge is needed to navigate through the menus and settings when you're setting up to shoot. I strongly recommend buying a secondary battery if you plan on taking your GoPro on lengthy excursions where you'll be doing a lot of continuous filming. I also bought a portable USB charger that I can use to charge a dead battery while I keep shooting with the backup battery...it's extremely handy to have!

I also recommend getting at the very least a 16GB SDHC memory card (the more memory, the better) as well as an additional card for storage backup...for my very first video I shot for about 10 minutes at 960p in 48fps and the video filesize was approximately 1GB. I think a 32GB SDHC card with a 16GB as a backup would be the ideal setup.

Video quality from this camera is superb. As you've no doubt seen in demo videos, it shoots in full HD and you can choose to have the wide-angle capture or not if you don't want the fisheye effect around the edges. I recommend also buying a polarizing filter to put inside the plastic housing, as it immensely cuts down on glare and harsh brights.

If you plan on using this camera to record anything that needs sound (or good sound quality), I highly recommend buying an external microphone (which you can pickup for fairly cheap for decent quality) as the built-in microphone is quite poor (which is understandable because of the housing around it).

The camera has awesome features in addition to the great video quality like time lapse and burst photo...I have not tried time lapse mode myself yet but I am very excited to give it a try. The burst photo mode is incredibly useful to capture that one perfect moment during something that is happening very quickly or is fast action.

What really makes this camera great is all the various mounts and accessories that you can buy for it...you can literally mount it anywhere. Just be careful about any non-official GoPro gear - make sure to lookup reviews first, as many of the third-party accessories and add-ons are not built with the same high quality.

Just be sure to take really good care of the outer plastic housing...yes, it is waterproof (to a certain extent) and is designed to protect the camera itself from damage, but any scratches or marks on the housing near the part that covers the lens will certainly be visible in your videos.

Some people recommend using Rain-X on the outer housing to prevent water droplets with use in the water, but I've found this only makes the water beads more clear in the video...I recommend simply licking the outside plastic that covers the lens, as this will provide a film to help prevent droplets forming.

Since the HD Hero 2 came out recently, if you can find it brand new for sale for under $350, it's a good deal. I was lucky and managed to find a great deal on mine but it's still well worth the full retail price if you see yourself using it a lot.

Compact, functonally wide great cam

This camera has great 960p and 720p resolutions with approx.60fps that allows to get HQ pictures and videos in dynamics. Also I enjoy stationary video with HD resolution(30fps) or slow motion WVGA (120 fps). No doubt there is great regime to shoot with timing - I cut a sunrise or ice cube melting in fast speed).

It is not so comfortable to use it without preview screen and not so great default underwater lens. And it is hard to do something with default supports, but all this stuff possible to get apart.

It is hard to switch fast between regimes, but if you do - you will enjoy it very much!

There is no supporting consoles for cam without safety box. But no quality decreasing when you use it, so its ok.

Overall expression is Excellent!

A huge step over Hero HD.

I bought the Hero2 after my great experience with the Hero HD.
Hero2 is quite an improvement over the old HD, but the good part is you can use all the old accesorios for this camera too, so you don't need to buy new stuff. If the video quality on the HD was very good, the new Hero2 makes it exceptional. full HD recording looks vivid and very detailed. The sound recording quality is very good, and the microphone input is something we, HD owners wanted for a long time. The front LCD is a huge, HUGE improvement over the old one, being very informative and intuitive. Also it can display much more information than the old one.

If I can wish something about the next GoPro is to improve the recording quality on low light situations, but don't get me wrong, this camera performs very good.

I've used it on helmets, cars, radio controlled toys, bycicles, my own head and many other places without any problem. from me riding my bycicle to race cars going over 150mph.

I also have the LCD back pack which is a useful "toy" but not that much necessary as a tool if you have a computer to download your files near.

I would recommend a battery back pak for the Hero2 as it consumes more battery than the old HD.

Professional Quality Videos, Easy to use, Can't say enough. I love it!

Well, I have nothing but good things to say about this camera. It has met every one of my expectations! I wanted something that record at high speed, for slow motion action shots and 1080p for my Cycling Excursions. This camera has all the modes that I could ever want in such a low budget package. I really like how you can buy all sorts of mounting and BacPac attachments. So far, I've bought the LCD BacPac and it works great. I ended up buying a GoPro Bicycle handlebar mount. This is the only thing that I found lacking. The quality of the video, using this mount, is mediocre at best. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a K-Edge handlebar mount instead. It is significantly more expensive, but if you want to get the best picture quality out of this camera, this is the way to go! One of the hardest parts with this camera is finding the right Video Rendering software to go with it. I ended up buying Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0. I've tried many other programs, but this one seems to work the best and has the least conflicts and crashes.Read full review...

Great for someone who is just getting into videoing

I bought a used but in great shape HD Hero2 to see if I would like it. Needless to say I’m impressed! I didn’t want to spend a lot on a camera I wouldn’t like so I went with an older model GoPro. I tested it out last week while I was fishing and other than the case muffles the sound out because it is waterproof I have zero complaints. I had to download software for my laptop but other than that it is just plug and play. Video quality was excellent for a older camera. I may get a newer on down the road but this will suit my recording my fishing and hunting excursions well. It came with everything i needed but a battery, chest harness, and the sportsman mount. All of which is no big deal i bought generic batteries for it. Overall if you’re wanting a GoPro and don’t wanna spend the money for a new one try the older models you will not be disappointed!Read full review...

super camera !! watch out customs charges !!!

bought this product for capturing skiing moments this winter. very sharp lens and very nice speed at 60fps . Can be mounted almost anywhere and this gives you great capturing angles for your videos . battery life is a bit shot ( little less than 2 hours on 720p 60fps and tempetatures -10 C ) but you can buy an extra battery back for double the life . when touching with bare hands on icy environment lens might get foggy , really annoying but might get better if you use special anti humidity paper in the waterproof case . sound with the waterproof case is a bit poor but I guess thats the price of being waterproof .
in my opinion it is the best value for money product on the market now .
Be sure to check if there are any extra customs charges in your country when ordering from abroad cause I almost payed double the initial price .

Great Videos

I got this GoPro Hero2 to take videos of the rides that I make on my motorcycle. What can I say? It is a GoPro and it takes great video footage. I do recommend getting a battery bacpac for the longer rides though. I use this every time I get on my bike so i have a record of anything that might happen to me or someone else. I also get some great footage of riding through the twisties and trees.
