A No-Brainer For Any PS3 Owner

Let me preface by saying the PSP titles, _Chains of Olympus_ and _Ghost of Sparta,_ aren't included on the discs. For new (unused) copies, the _God of War Saga_ includes voucher codes to download the PSP games via the Playstation Network; once redeemed, those codes can never be used again (i.e., you'll have to purchase those games separately), so unless you don't care for the PSP titles, I highly suggest buying a brand new copy.

To those unfamiliar to the series, the games center around Kratos -- a Spartan warrior and former servant of Ares, the god of war -- in his quest for vengeance against those who've wronged him. All five games do a respectable job of maintaining plot continuity, and there are some interesting twists in the games' story arc.

Graphics among all five games are superbly detailed and, with the exception of _God of War 3,_ play at a smooth 60 FPS. (_God of War 3_ runs anywhere from 30 to 60 FPS -- understandable considering the rich graphics on rather primitive hardware.)

Combat is what sets the series apart from anything else. It's violent, over-the-top, fluid, and extremely satisfying. Weapons and magic can be upgraded for more damage and extra attacks. The Blades of Chaos will likely be your weapon of choice, but there are many others available.

It's not just all hack-and-slash, though; there are many puzzles to help with the pacing. Most puzzles aren't too difficult to figure out, but some will have you scratching your head. There is also a healthy dose of exploration; there are usually red orb chests and other goodies off camera, so it pays to take time to check every nook and cranny.

There is female nudity in all the games, so some people might be put off by that (or turned on by that . . .). And where there are exposed breasts, there will almost certainly be sex mini games afoot. The actual "act" isn't shown, but the grunts and the moans can be heard while the player presses buttons and rotates the analog stick to simulate the climb to orgasm. The sex mini games are optional (trophies notwithstanding), so feel free to ignore them if you're uncomfortable around that sort of thing.

There's not much more to say other than the _God of War Saga_ is an amazing deal. Five critically acclaimed games for the price of one . . . it doesn't get much better than that. If you don't mind a lot of blood and guts and occasional nudity, I'd highly recommend these games.

Best value currently in the God of War series

Anyone that is looking to try out God of War and doesn't have any of the previous installments would do well with this collection. It contains the 3 GoW console games on 2 discs, and includes a voucher code for the 2 PSP games inside the case. To date, this is every GoW game available, except for the most recent "Acension" which serves as a prequel to the series. GoW is a highly rated series, and the Saga collection is a great way for anyone to get nearly all of the titles all in one place.Read full review...

Great game, hack and slash/puzzle solving.

I have enjoyed this game greatly. Just as the product detail says it comes with 5 games. two of those games are DLC (downloadable content) which just means you wont have the physical disk but you'll download the games onto your system. I recommend buying this game new only because the two DLC games - the codes for the games expire after a period of time.

Great storyline, has alot to do about mythology. If you enjoy hack and slash, some puzzle solving (not little kid puzzle solving, you actually really have to think about alot of them, I had to look up a walkthrough on part of the game). this game is somewhat similar to prince of persia but definitely M rated.

So far I have only completed the 1st game, but the 2nd doesnt disappoint all.

Worth it.... the best story EVER played!

What an amazing saga. My husband introduced me to this game, and instantly I was hooked. You can definitely see the graphics change (get better) as you play each game in chronological order. It's great to have all, including the psp (Chains of Olympus & Ghost of Sparta) all for ps3 format. If there's any remote downside to this set, it would be (in my humble opinion) the fact that the 2 original psp games need to be downloaded w/the codes included, and the wait time is eternally longggg for them to download.....HOWEVER, once they're installed you'll be in GoW heaven :) For the affectionado, it's a must buy & will be played over and over again....by the both of us ;) Worth every dime!!Read full review...

Great :D

WHOA, that is the only word i have to describe this game, whoa. everything about this game is amazing. the level design is superb and original, offering new challenges that seem daunting, but aren't too hard to figure out. the character design is amazing, from the smallest grunt, to the tallest god (of war... sorry, i couldn't resist) the animations and movements of the characters are smooth and great top look at. the fighting looks kind of like a button masher, but it is deep, layered, and fun to get into, offering combos that give you more experience, or letting you rip your enemy in half. the only complaint is that a lot of the gore is over the top, like ripping the wings off a harpie, ripping the arm off an enemy and killing them with hit, and lastly (the most fun to watch) stabbing a Minotaur in the face. all in all, this is the reason action adventure games were created, the reason for anyone who doesn't already to get a ps, and, dare i say?, the best ps game I've ever played, 10/10Read full review...

Like being in a Ray Harryhausen movie!

The discs include God of War 1, 2, and 3. And two codes to download Ghosts of Sparta and Chains of Olympus. All these games are fantastic, with mostly good responsive controls and great graphics for their time. And a slew of innovative weapons and creatures. Some spots can be frustrating though due to quirky mechanics within the games, especially the earlier games, but after you get passed them, it's very fun. Be aware that these games have some nudity in them, which is my it's got a Mature rating.Read full review...

The multiplicity of Kratos make this a really big colossus.

Really nice for the price. It contains the whole GOW saga, but Ascencion (Please Sony, don't release a new combo), and 2 of them with the support for 3D (I tryed with the proper Tv, and didn't see much difference), and all but the 3rd are in HD.
The 2 of Psp come in a voucher -wich takes takes a lot of time to download, it weights like 20 GB-, with an special video in HD, with an interview of the 5 directors of the saga.
Nice inner artwork by the way.

5 games in one

I made sure I bought a brand new copy of this game to insure of getting all five games. But, the 2 games that were downloads had expired just a month ago. I was not a happy gamer. There should not be an expiration date on a brand new game. Other than that, the game was great!Read full review...

Today's Forecast: Heavy Blood and Guts Raining All Over The Place!

Kratos SMASH!!! Great hack and slash puzzle game. If you're ever pissed off go pick this up and it will solve all your problems. Rated M for mature no kidding. I loved hacking at the bastards who tried to beat me up for no apparent reason other than admiring the great landscape as I journeyed into the heart of Greek mythology. I was never a great puzzle solver. I just happened to want to find more monsters to slay the more my brain was working overdrive. Hated those annoying witch ladies who turned you to stone. I died in one second many times. Then I returned the favor.Read full review...
