Automotive action with an edge of your seat plot!!

Fantastic movie with a great story and don't forget the awesome automobiles. Riveting action with a spectacular car chase involving one 1967 FORD Mustang named Eleanor!!

Not totally thrilled

The plot of this movie is enticing. The actors are not very compelling in their performance. I usually like Nicholas Cage movies, but this one did not own up to his usual stellar performance. I watched the whole movie because parts of it were exciting, but I would not watch it again.Read full review...

Gone in 60 Seconds (DVD, 2000)

Pretty good action flick about stealing cars. Memphis Raines (Nicholas Cage) is a former car thief. He has retired from the business because of a promise he made to his mother to not lead his little brother, Kipp, (Giovanni Ribisi) into the business and ruin his life. Now, two years later, his old friend and associate has come to find him. His brother has gotten himself into trouble with a big time smuggler. He took some upfront money and agreed to boost fifty high-end cars, but screwed up and can't get the job done. Unless Memphis comes back to handle this problem, his brother will be killed. He has to try to put together the old crew, and get the cars, and only has a couple of days to do it. His old friend who owned the chop shop, Otto, (Robert Duvall), and his old girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, and several others, plus some of his brother's crew make a plan and set it in motion. The thefts are all to happen in one night. Well, the cops are on to the theft and are watching Memphis. They know that if he is back, he must be involved. Kipp isn't too keen on Memphis being back, and somehow thinks that Memphis chickened out and left because he lost his nerve. He doesn't know about the promise Memphis made to his mother. Well, the boost goes well until the last car, a Ford Mustang Cobra GT500. When the last car is delivered late by thirty minutes, the deal is supposedly void! Memphis must do whatever it takes to save Kipp's life. This is a ridiculous premise, but I didn't write this movie. It was enjoyable, but the ending was sort of dumb.Read full review...

Gone in 60 Seconds

"Gone in 60 Seconds" is an energetic, slick, stylish action picture with high octane star power and lots of awesome looking automobiles. If you are a viewer interested in cars this production, by producer Jerry Bruckheimer ("Con Air," "The Rock"), is worth seeing just to feast your eyes on the glossy vehicles. Although the film secretes a stench of weakness in many areas, its precise sense of action and excitement make it a moderately successful summer thrill ride.Read full review...

A guilty pleasure...

This is just a fun movie. Nicholas Cage is great as the character of Memphis and goes to some pretty extreme lengths to save his younger brother's life. Angelina Jolie is her usual bad girl self tough, but with a sweet side (not too sweet). There's a great supporting cast, including Robert Duvall and Giovanni Ribisi. This movie is a ride that is worth the trip! Okay, just talked myself into watching it!;-)Read full review...

Gone in 60 Seconds

When it comes to reviewing movies like Gone in 60 Seconds, the critics are just plain stupid. You can't rate this film on Grammy Categories. This is a flick about cars. Sexy, fast, adrenaline pumping, loud, oh-my-god-it's-in-digital-surround-sound cars. There's nothing like hearing a Supercharged-Nitrous-pumping 1967 Shelby GT 500 Mustang in Digital Surround. I don't care what the critics gave this movie. With a kick-ass cast and supporting stars with names of Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW, Hemi Cuda and Ferrari just to name a few; you can't go wrong. And there was actually a plot. You have to remember this is a 100% guy movie. When I stepped out of the theatre I heard booster wanna-be's revving up their ladies all over the parking lot. That's what this movie is about. If you actually try to rate this movie, you'll be dissapointed. But if you just sit back, relax, and picture yourself in the driver's seat, you'll absolutely love it. I'd recommend it to every guy who has ever exceeded the speed limit. (and come on, how can you give a movie with Angelina Jolie in it a bad rating :-)Read full review...
