Genuine Replacement Parts!

These are exactly like the ones I was replacing on one of my older Gretsch guitars. The old ones had become pretty corroded, and detracted from the appearance of the instrument. It's great that these come with the hanger bolts, because on my guitar, one of the original bolts stayed anchored in while the other bolt screwed right out along with the knob. It didn't matter though, I just used the new knob only on one, and replace the hanger bolt and knob completely on the other ... worked out great! Another thing that's good is that these come packaged very well, and you can use the resealable plastic envelope to save your original knobs and bolts in, as I did! This comes in handy for collector's who want a guitar with all the original parts still available!Read full review...

Excellent parts!

I have a 1990 Epiphone Emperor before they were designated as the “Joe Pass” model that was made in Korea. Phenomenal guitar except the bridge which I switched to a Gretsch Adjustable synchromatic and I liked it so much, I decided to make a few more “Gretsch “ changes. The strap buttons look great and fit perfect!Read full review...

Nice touch. Classic proven design.

These actually work! I got them too for some mandolins that I'm modifying with gold Ashton Bailey tailpieces. Perfect solution for a mandolin strap button when you don't want to deal with the old standard wooden endpin.

For guitars, if you use a standard guitar strap with no additional strap button modifications--on a guitar that's not TOO heavy, like a hollow or semi-hollow--these work great and look very classy on the instrument.

Be careful mounting them if you don't take it to a pro, which you should. They have a unique way of installing. Once you know you've got the correct pilot hole size, you take ONLY the screw stem (do NOT screw these in with the strap button head on the threaded stem!!) and there's a small hidden spot for a hex key (some are machined for a #1 phillips screw driver). Screw that into the body until it's tight and flush with the small flange, and the strap button screws on OVER your strap, and THAT'S how the "lock" works. Brilliant design by Gretsch many many years ago and still is the nicest design for hollow bodies.

Big difference

They make a big difference on the guitar's appearance. If the guitar needs restoration here's a good place to start for details. Then go from there.
