Lightweight with great features

Small and lightweight the All In One Card Reader easily fits into your pocket, laptop case or camera bag. It takes the following memory cards; Micro SD, MMC micro, Mini SD, SD, XD picture card, MMC mobile, MMC plus, M2 and MS Duo. The card reader comes with a USB A 2.0 to Mini USB connecting cord. I plugged it into my computer and it was ready to go. There is an "access" light in the upper right corner that glows red to let you know that it is connected. Data transfer was fast and accurate, completing most file transfers in milliseconds. The slots for the cards and the connecting cord are tight, once you put the card in, it stays put while you do your work. Read full review...

Great features with a minor ...

The item so far seems to work great. The first use (at least on my Windows 8.1) goes through a set up (driver) install for approx. 20-30 seconds but after that it is quick upon future use. The normal SD slot on my computer would randomly not recognize the SD card especially if it was not ejected properly. This adapter works much better and if the card is removed (without software eject) it is not a problem. You can reinsert the card and it pops right back up on the screen.
The minor "con" I have about it is the ports are not labelled so it took some guesswork to get the right slot (SD card top left). I labeled with red marker but not easy to see....

Didn't last

I purchased this to use with the CF cards for my Canon 5D classic. CF cards need to be aligned correctly at the beginning of being inserted into slots because they will not be connected to the pins at the correct location if they are not, leading to bent pins and ruining your cards. So nicer readers will have guides on the sides of the slots.

This product lacks them, and there is no other way than to just feel and wiggle to get your card inserted into the slot correctly. One night after painstakingly aligning my card like usual, when I thought I had the alignment right, I pushed my card in all the way, and it felt weird immediately - alas, I had misaligned it!

The misalignment caused a few pins to bend, but the real problem was that now my card wouldn't work. I ended up ordering a pair of used CF cards from Adorama, and a new reader. The new reader has the guides, and it now takes no effort to insert the CF card into the slot.

If you are considering this reader for your CF cards, you may want to take account what happened to me.

Great Ptoduct! and easy to use.

Works great for the XD and SD cards. The only bad thing that's probably my problem is that I try to put the cards in backwards but that's fine because it is keyed and won't let you insert it anyway.

Card Reader

I would not recommend this reader to anyone. To date, I have only been able to read a Micro SD, and it is not marked for the side to insert the cards, and what cards go into what slots. Once I was told which slot and how to insert the Micro SD, it was very difficult to insert. I asked for a chart to show which way to insert what card in each slot, and got no reply. I guess I was lucky to get instructions for the Micro SD. You can't even read the symbols on the top of the reader, although, I don't think that would have been any help anyway.Read full review...

Mostly serves its purpose.

It works great on the card slots provided, but I wish it had a micro SD card slot. I have to use an adapter for the regular SD slot and sometimes the pins inside the SD adapter do not make good contact with the micro SD that is inserted.Read full review...

Great card reader

Card reader on my laptop stopped working a while back and knowing what it might cost to repair or replace it, I bought this item instead. It's small, lightweight and works great with a variety of cards. It's also simple to use, just plug the cord in the reader, plug the USB in your computer or whatever you use to view the contents of your cards, plug the card in the proper slot and that's it. Some devices capture pictures and video in different formats and not all factory installed readers on computers etc. will read just any format. With this reader, the format didn't seem to matter, it read all my pictures from different devices, { Game Cameras, Regular Camera, GoPro etc...} with no issues. For me, it is a much more cost effective way to view my pictures and videos than replacing or repairing the reader on my laptop.Read full review...

Gets the job done

I haven't had any severe issues with this device.
As it works just fine, it feels it could break if it's treated slightly forceful.
It's hard to insert some cards. Must practice patience and being cautious as it feels either the card might break or the reader.
If you are careful enough, you should be alright with this. If this is a gift for a girlfriend, mom, grandma, then do your research or prepare to spend some time with them explaining how to insert cards property and being as careful as possible.

Excellent

I have a USB 2.0 computer (not a speed demon), so the data transfer seemed just fine to me. The unit is very lightweight and does not appear to be flimsy. You do not need much in strength for an adapter.

When plugging the cable provided into the adapter initially, it only went in about 1/16". Gave it a firm push (about five pounds of force) and it went in all the way. I am sure this is nothing more than the tightness of a new mating connectors and probably would ease up after a few cycles of plugging the cable in and out of the adapter. However, I rate the above as a plus, as a loose cable connection is the last thing you would want. Do not see why anyone would want to, or need to, ever disconnect the short cable from the adapter anyway. It works just fine as is, so why mess around with a good thing.

The USB end of the cable fitted my computer just like any other connector, no problem whatsoever.

The large CF card does go in with the label down as others have mentioned. As far as it not having slot labels, well get yourself a Brother label maker and have at it.

The reason I purchased this adapter is I have a Bushnell trail camera. I could look at the flicks using a cable from the camera to my computer, but it is a real pain to take the camera off the tree and bring it home each time. It is much easier to slip out the SD card, insert a replacement card, and take the old card home with me for viewing.

There was one other thing that I noticed when I purchased a Sony SD card which came with a USB adapter. The Sony card worked fine in the Sony adapter, but other SD cards like San Disk did not work in the Sony adapter. However, all the SD cards I have Sony, Sandisk, and Nikon, worked fine in this all in one adapter. Have no idea of what is happening with the Sony adapter, but this reader handled every Card that I fed it.
