Old style refrigerator cars.
I now own six of these, all Athearn and all from different production years. Some are so,old that the plastic used in the under frame is getting brittle and I had to replace the original coupler boxes with cemented on Kadee replacements. But, in typical Athearnnfassion, the mod was simple and the result is a piece of old rolling stock that is even better than new. If your middling Ana era up into sixties, thesevoldvstandards won’t look out of place on a freight orbpassenger consist. All the running gear is easily upgraded or just repaired. They can easily be made to be the proper weight. The older ones might still have metal trucks which can cause headaches on crossing DCC switches if they aren’t set up exactly correct.m but treplacingnthemmwith newer trucks with steel wheels is still economically feasable..Read full review...
