Great all-purpose phone!

Awesome phone! I've been addicted to it. It was a tremendous update from my G1. Hardware-wise, the Mytouch 4G is much faster than the G1, internal memory is more than enough for all the apps I want, and comes with a generous SD card for my music and videos. The front and back camera also added a lot of new uses for the phone. The phone feels sturdy and it doesn't get bulky even after a gel case. Touch screen is very responsive and screen size is generous. Speaker and headphone jack also make it great for listening to music while on the go. Software wise, Android has come a long way. I wasn't too dependent on data plans while on the G1, but this one makes data plans worthwhile. User interface is much more enjoyable than before while holding its speed. Swype has also made not having a physical keyboard bearable. I practically like this phone more than my laptop! I use it for just about everything, anywhere, at anytime. Only complaint, like most others have mentioned is battery life. With the right battery control apps, I'm averaging 24-36 hrs with moderate use. At least charging only takes 2 hours or so, and then its good for another day.Read full review...

You can't beat this for when it comes to value.

I had wanted a HTC inspire since they came out. A tech savvy friend was explaining the features of this phone vs the iphone. I finally wound up getting one. I realize that they are a little dated, but I love mine. The main reason I like them, is because they use a micro-sd card for memory. That allows you to put it in a different phone if you break your phone. The 8 mp camera takes great pictures (which you will still have if you break your phone, due to them being stored on the sd card). The fact that it doesn't have a front facing camera doesn't bother me because I'm not a "selfie" person. The operating system is quick enough for me. The gps and navigation is fantastic, and it has all the features I want plus some. The only real drawback is battery life. It lasts through a 12 hour shift at work, but not much more. Probably would last longer if I turned off bluetooth, wifi, and gps.Read full review...

HTC Could lose some weight!

I love the fact that this phone can do just about everything a computer can do plus take pictures and video. The phone is very responsive and fast as swiping across screens is super easy and lag isn't seen. However, for the female consumhers the phone will look quite large and feel quite large in the hand. If the phone was a little slimmer, sort of like the Droid Incredible then i believe more female consumers can be reached. The captive buttons are also agitating as they can easily be pressed without trying to when swiping across the screen. I also dislike that there isn't a decication camera button and that that the front facing camera mirrors and would show words backwards. Last dislikeness of this phone would be that you have to reach way up to the top to put screen to sleep instead of being able choose one of the captive buttons at the bottom of the phone.

All in the phone is a excellent device that works.

I decided to buy the phone due to the fact that it has a 8mega pixil camera with flash and a front facing camera. i love taking pictures with a phone and being that this phone had such a large camera lens, i knew great pictures will come from this phone.

Other than the lack of a front facing camera/low battery life, its great!

Honestly, I only have 2 issues with the HTC Inspire 4G..those being the lack of a front camera and the short battery life.

The lack of a front facing camera takes away the ability to video chat with friends. This would've been nice but it definitely doesn't make me want to sell the phone.

As for the low battery life if you are a moderate to heavy user, keeping a charger with you at all times is a must if you want to get through the day without your phone dying. To improve this, however, one could download advanced task killer from the Android Market..you could also root and download a custom rom to your phone which DEFINITELY helps with the battery life.

Other than these issues, the phone is AMAZING. The huge screen is beautiful to look at, and the phone is aesthetically pleasing as a whole. The phone also has great processing powers and coupling that with all of the great Android Market apps makes this phone great.

Can't forget about the great price too :)

Great features, horrible battery..would still recommend to a friend.

I recently switched my household from iPhone 4 to HTC Inspire. The Android system has more features and functions than Apple, but the battery life is absolutely terrible. I have turned off everything except the mobile network, dimmed my screen down, and only use my phone for moderate texting. Even so, the brand new battery I bought only lasts 3 to 4 hours on most days. Same thing on my wife's phone. And thanks to the design of the battery door, there is no way to add an extended battery. I think the phone could also use a dedicated camera button. Overall, not counting battery life, the phone is an excellent piece of equipment.Read full review...

2nd best phone in Summer 2010 Market

I give it a good rating and not a excellent because there is still a lot of improvement that can be done. Phone looks and feel great, very stylish, up to date with technology, and superb screen size. I love the screen size for browser the internet and watching video. Of course i'm a guy and I got big khaki pockets for the phone so i don't mind the big bulkiness, i actually like the screen size more than the iphone. As far as speed, the internet is really fast but programs needs some work to move in and out faster. A fast internet but slow software isn't gonna help it much. The Android software stinks, could use better functionality like the iphone. I miss the iphone due to simplicity, easy to navigate and organize app around. Sprint network is great but their data network isn't that great. I can call and text instantly but having trouble connecting to the data network to use app that require online access.

9/6/10 Update:
Batteries perform good unless you are using flash from like watch youtube videos. That's why Iphone decided not to use flash on their phones and I know why now. From a full charge battery watching youtube, the whole battery drains in one hour compare to your regular videos which last for about 2.5 times longer. Going in and out of video files sometimes lags and freezes. Your video search loads kinda slow if you're trying to get all the way down to the bottom for your video. I wish you can set the setting for video to show just a list so it can scroll down faster than trying to load all the video picture while slowing down the scrolling down part. Be prepare to get extra batteries on the side and thank goodness this phone has that feature unlike the iphones. Once its dead its dead. Does what I need to do and they need to start putting up more general app like local banks, etrade, and etc.

evo works great but battery life is poor

I have to say since I am a droid user I love the Evo, better then the crappy hero, which has memory leaks, I lost 3 phones because of the hero. the Evo on the other hand is incredible, two things are missing though, 16 gigs of ram instead of an expansion card which the Evo, cannot save apps to SD card unless you have a special app for that, and battery life, oh way bad, but besides that this phone rocks. Fast, user friendly, awesome camera, and very nice keyboard, even with swipe :) yes it has swipe unbelievably with the new upgrade. I had the I phone 4 and this blows it out of the water, only thing comparable is the Droid X by Verizon and that interface is not as good as HTC, however the Droid X battery life does rock, anyone with an I phone would switch to either one if they ever used it. because of the battery life and memory I ive this phone a 4 star, the i phone 4 is 3.5 at best, to many droped calls and battery life is almost as bad. Unless you go 4 g and then the Evo sucks lol, wow like 1 hour and you are done....
suggest u get a better battery if you purchase it

It needs a camera short cut button on the outside.

I bought the HTC inspire simply for the beauty of the weather and clock application. I bought it on Ebay so I wouldn't have to force the upgrade fee for my wireless carrier. Even though the phone is a bit awkwardly sized, the phones fun features make up for that. The battery life is impressive if you aren't the type to use a lot of different applications at a time, though you can download an application to force close background data from being wasted. For someone who is very picky about their devices, I only have two issues with this phone. There is not a button on the outside of the phone to work the camera, which, I have gotten used to. There is no swipe feature when it comes to text unless you download a paid application. The browser is easy to navigate, though the cursor can be a bit finicky sometimes.
I haven't had an issue with applications opening or closing themselves like I did with the Sprint Samsung Intercept. For anyone who has a busy schedule and would like a larger phone with a wonderfully fun to use eight megapixel camera, this would be it. The speaker is loud and the ringtones are fun too. As for whether or not I would buy this product again, probably not, simply for the fact that there is no camera button and no keyboard.
Thank you HTC for making such a beautiful product.

It's an okay cellphone

I bought my AT&T HTC Inspire (used) because of the micro SD card option, LED flash, alleged call quality, battery life, & the superior ratings I saw on the net. I use it on Red Pocket Mobile. To let you know, I'm no phone techy, so bear that in mind as you read this. I simply like a few options (mentioned above) on my phone & want to be able to hear those who call me. For the most part, the Inpsire has been okay. There was a small trick to downloading my saved ringtones from my computer (made them smaller/went through the SD card), but once I figured it out, it was easy. It would not recognize my larger ringtones that were already saved on the SD card. I read that the alarm clock might disappear; it did. Mine wouldn't download the alarm app that was recommended on the net, either. Call quality is decent, as is the texting experience, & the battery life. The screen quality is not bad, but admittedly, there is better. I surf the net very little, but when I have, the speed has been decent on the whole. While not a large phone by today's super mega cell phone standards, this one is still a good size. It may be a little on the heavy side for some, but I like the heft, which gives it a solid feel. Navigation of the Inspire seems appropriate for a cellphone. I'm still in the early stages of use with this phone, but for now, it's okay & nothing more.Read full review...

Well worth the risk

I'm not giving this 5 stars just because I haven't tried out half of the features this amazing little phone offers. I bought this 3-4 y.o. smartphone instead of one of several Samsung 0-1 y.o. Samsung phones mainly because I was skeptical about any company's products when it starts to dominate a market and the Samsun phones had all started to feel very plasticky and breakable(alhough in fairness to Samsung I didn't have any evidence that they were more breakable.) Moreover their reviews were all over the map and they were loaded with features like tv that I didn't want. The HTC on the other hand had consistently good reviews and the model I'd seen had a reassuring heft to it with a very sturdy-feeling beautiful gunmetal grey surface and minimal gimmicky features. Plus, it gave me that elusive ebay thrill of getting something for $50 that sold for $500 just 4 years ago. Obviously there's always a risk to buying used stuff, but HTC has a great reputation and this model had passed the "lemon" test if its owner had kept it this long. I saw buying this as being like getting the 10 y.o. Mercedes instead of the new Camray.
It truly behaves like a very very small laptop. No corners were cut, the display is lovely, and everything does what it's supposed to do. The slide-out
part is aa little loose but that's the only obvious sign of wear and tear
