Good for a basic smart phone

This is good for a basic smart phone, and it's nice to have a smaller size phone than the more modern options. It has a very small memory, so can't run many apps, but I knew that before I bought it (for my Mum). I've set it up to access her hotmail email and play YouTube, but no more than that. The camera is 5MP, which is just about good enough to get print outs from. The mp3 player, playing songs stored on the SD card works well. You can also text and phone from it!Read full review...

HTC Wildfire S for business use

I wanted a small pocket size.smartphone for use at work that was a reasonable price. I considrered Samsung, LG and HTC Android phones. I chose to go with HTC for build quality and speed based on other reviews and it has lived up to these.

As with any Smartphone, battery life is alwaysa challenge even with moderate phone call and internet use, so I bought a 2300mah battery from eCell with a greater capacity and now it comfortably lasts all day.

Phone memory is limited, not unusual for the price so I have moved all apps that I can onto SD card. Still could do with a bit more memory but I'm happy to wait for app upgrades so more can be moved to SD.

Performance, call quality is very good and the HTC Android interface I.find very easy to use. It works well with my bluetooth car kit too.

Worth buying a case and screen protector in my view. Avoid silicone sleeves if keeping in you pocket as they attract dust. Go for a harder case.

Small smartphone for the small pocket user

The Wildfire S is a great little smartphone. Its smaller than an iphone so for people who want all the features of smart phone, but don't use them that often to want to lug around a bigger phone its great. The size does mean that the battery life is impacted by this.
It will happily last several days without much use.. although once you start playing around with the battery level drops quickly - which is fair enough. The sound quality is not bad for call although a bit quite sometimes.
The camera is not bad although quite slow to take pictures.
The android system is wonderful with plenty of room to customise it and free apps.

Great value for money, would recommend to anyone. A+!

Very good phone, with plenty of great apps available. Whilst the many features are very good, the calling part of the phone is a little temperamental. Making calls is easy enough but trying to answer calls can be difficult and lead you to miss calls very easily. The battery life on the phone is fairly limited, needing to be re-charged everyday in my experience. However, I think the available features outweigh this and it is a very good product. Great value for money overall and I would recommend it to others. I would also be more than happy to purchase another HTC product in the future.Read full review...

If you use camera & music a lot, this is NOT the phone for U.ring too quiet

Ive been using the wildfire S for about 4 weeks now. Before i had Nokia 5800 exp music which was a great phone (stolen). then a ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco - gingerbread 2.3).
The wildfire S overall is very good, touch screen is responsive, many features, but there are a few major annoyances.
1. Ring Volume is too low - i cant hear it over traffic noise when im outside near busy roads (i live in a big city so that is always).
2. Camera really sucks. The camera doesn't have its own 'shoot' button, only a touch-screen button, the android screen button. so i cant take my own photo as i miss the screen button every time with screen pointing away from me - lens pointing towards me. also it is slow to take pics with the auto focus, and the colour tone is not great - very red.
3. power switch sticks out. It keeps turning on/off by accident - it should be countersunk so accidental operation is avoided.
4. Contacts storage is terrible. not sure if this is android or HTC design, but i cant easily find contacts. i have to search every time. the Nokia was so simple to use.
5. speaker sound quality is not as good as the nokia by a long way. and too quiet. i travel a lot and use the speaker sound for music in hotels.
6. USB tethering is hit and miss, sometimes it works sometimes it wont. i end up using the portable wi-fi hot spot function which is slower and uses more battery.
7. Cant see the screen at all outside in sunlight.

all in all, im selling it and trying the Samsung Galaxy S2. i hope the ring vol will be louder and address book & camera will be easier to use. if not its back to the Nokia!
if you use the camera and music a lot as i do, this is not the phone for you. also if you are in noisy environments often (clubs / near roads etc) you wont hear it ring.

Big bang for buck feature laden stylish phone

This isn't a review per-se as I have never owned a smartphone before, so this is essentially my opinion of it. This is a very contemporary stylish phone with plenty of features for any average type user as a regular phone, email, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a host of other features.

It may not be top of the line or the best of it's type, but that wasn't a consideration when I was looking to replace my elderly Nokia phone, but it's a well made solidly built unit with an excellent screen with an easy to use control set.

I bought a generic black double S phone rubber/semi-rigid cover for it which fits perfectly and both enhances the phones appearance whilst offering general protection from knock and bumps. The cut-outs for mains charger and USB connections are perfect.

I'm very happy with my purchase and of the phone itself, so if you're looking for a good quality smartphone with plenty of features and functions, you ought to give this phone due consideration as it's a very good bit of kit and I think it's a great bang for buck buy. Mine was a used unlocked and rooted copy which was supplied complete and in A1 condition. I chose this model as my network provider (3) has it listed as one of their phones suitable for their network use.

I hope my findings and opinions will give any potential buyers some insight regarding the phone.

It's too old version?

Wildfire s is too small for use. But it's speed not too slow.
Most bad point is I can't use "google play store"apri. This mean I can't get softwear from internet. Even I use internet blauser, I can't get softwear from internet. It's difficult for me for use.Read full review...

EASY TO USE, LOVELY DESIGN, DURABLE

I brought this phone off ebay for an upgrade from my previous phone (Samsung Europa).
Using this HTC is easy to use for most people, what I like best is the ability to download thousands of app from Google Play that I could on my previous phone. I also love the HTC Sense user interface, it is well designed and lovely to look at when opening up my phone.
What I don't like about this phone is that the internal memory is quite low, that's 150 mb free to use. I don't mind the size but it is limiting me the amount of apps I can download from the market.

The battery life is fairly average for an typical Android device, it depends how you will use it, it last me for just a day, that may be due to surfing the web, syncing emails frequently and playing games, I am sure this phone can last a whole 2 days and a half if lucky from a fully charged battery to a flat battery

I recommending buying this phone, if you are starting or new to the smartphone world or just want a cheap, but durable phone

Thank you for reading

If your looking for a nice little cheap smart phone you cant go wrong here!

My first step into the smart phone world! Having lived with a very basic Nokia for the last 2 years and thinking I did'nt need anything fancy I have been pleasantly surprised and wont look back. I wanted something sim free as I don't do contracts, be able to receive emails, surf the internet and run a few apps on.I had my heart set on an iPhone but realised this wont be viable due to Apple's extortionate prices. This phone and android can do things my friends iphones cant and having paid 150 pounds instead of 300-400 pounds I'm very happy. I realise there are better phones on the market such the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy SII and probably the iPhone 4/4s (I'm not getting involved in the whole Android vs iOS debate)but if your looking for a nice little cheap smart phone you cant go wrong here. The only thing if I had to be picky is that the screen is not the largest of the smart phone bunch and anyone with hands larger than a small child will have some fun getting used to typing on it. Also if your running loads of apps all the time the battery doesn't last much more than a day but I'm really trying to look for faults now though.Read full review...
