Fantastic device, perfect with config.

Awesome, awesome, awesome device. Linux based Android devices handle memory usage so well, don't run a task-killer because you'll just end up using more juice and time. Runs like a beast. It's like having a tablet PC in my pocket! The cameras are both awesome, the 8mp camera does a fantastic job. I've been taking pictures of text from long distances, even with some motion blur, and I still get very readable results.

A lot of people complain about the battery on this phone. By default, it will synchronize (live when available, mind you) with Facebook, Gmail, news reports, stock reports, weather.... You get the drift. I disabled updates for everything except Gmail and Weather, because Facebook updates whenever I open the app anyway. After doing that, my standby battery life was tripled. I can go all day on the stock battery, spend 2 hours on the phone, send over 150 texts, browse the web, download files... and it goes from 9-5 just fine with enough juice to stay on standby until I hit the sack. So with some configuration, it does just fine. Things that use the radio seem to use the most power-- games, not so much. Screen brightness, not such a big deal. But live updates on six different channels? Definitely a drain. Also, some widgets will update automatically. They're basically like apps that never close, so think about what you use.

This phone is fantastic!!!

If you don't like this phone then it is probably a user error. This phone has great reception and is truly the best Smart Phone ever made. I have had a lot of smart phones and out of all of them this thing is by far the fastest.
And the High Def 8mp digital camera is awesome, And the high def camcorder takes unbelievable pictures. I will be returning the $300 digital camera I got for Xmas.
If you install a Task Killer, the battery will last about 10 times longer.
Shop savvy is the best app ever!!! With this phone You can scan a barcode in a store and it will tell you if its cheaper at another store and it will show you the online price comparisons. If it is cheaper at another store you can have the cashier do a on-the-spot price match. AWESOME!!!
There is another app that you scan in the checkout line at the store and it will enter your shopping card and pull any coupon bar-codes from the internet. This phone saves me 30-40% every time I go shopping. PHONE PERFECTION!!!

Does the job, I'd like the power key to be more responsive

The telephone is very good overall. It's my replacement for a Samsung Captivate, I'll be comparing both.
- Screen is fine, I'd say the Captivate is brighter and with better contrast.
- Phone is little bit heavy.
- GPS does the job (Captivate was unreliable).
- Battery finishes quite soon, as in every cell phone.
- SO looks more stable than in the Captivate.
- The power button and the volume buttons are low responsive. The volumen can be controlled with software, but the power button malfunction is more difficult to handle. I'm not sure if it's a issue with the model or only with my phone.

Don't get me wrong, I feel the phone is very good and I'm keeping it for a while. I'm happy (sort of) and I get it for 100 USD, so it's fine.

Wife loves it!

Wife "gave me" her iphone 4 when she got this. It's a nice phone, easy to use, has only one camera but it is 8 MP and has a flash. Battery lasts (seemingly) forever, screen is awesome sized, apps are mostly free and got to be good if my picky wife says so. I asked her to write the review but she's too busy on the phoneRead full review...

HTC myTouch 4g

Snapdragon 1ghz processor, 2.2.1 froyo, what else is there to say? This phone tops off all Iphones and other android phones. Who needs wi-fi to make video calling? myTouch 4g can do it without wi-fi. I love this phone ridicously. Feels nice and comfortable in the palm of my hand. The Wi-Fi hotspot is also a neat feature to use for your laptop and such

Faults? Well every phone has faults.

On the myTouch 4g I didn't like that you have to go to your clock then to alarm in order to set the alarm. I'm a college student and I'm constantly having to wake up early. I'm sure there's an easy fix for this or an alarm clock app on the market, just haven't searched for it. Also the speaker could be a tad-bit louder, but it is of course still hearable. Other than that though, I personally haven't bumped into other faults.

Getting this phone was a big upgrade from my previous phone so of course, I am excited to have all these cool features. All in all I love this phone and I would highly recommend to others in search of a great phone. Hope this Helps.

Rugged smartphone, not state-of-the-art, a few years old, intuitive "as you expect" user interface

Since it is used & a few years old, it is not state-of-the art, but it suits me well for the "out-of-contract" price. After purchasing a Samsung smartphone and using for less than a year about 5 years ago, it is nice to have a smartphone that works. Samsung has a software bug whereby a text message incoming when you are on a phone call shuts the entire phone down, and somehow it rebuilds itself in about 24. This bug was documented in various Samsung models in Samsung User Forums. I am very happy with the HTC Inspire thus far. I cannot be accurate about the battery life yet. It seems a little short, but I need to purchase a new battery to be totally accurate in that regard. When buying a used phone, make sure the feedback rating is adequate from he seller, and/or the serial number is listed, so that you can warrant that the phone has a "clean title", and is not rendere unusable by one of the mobile device databased (lost, stolen, etc.)Read full review...

I'm officially in heaven.

The HTC Evo 4G is one of the best phones ever manufactured by HTC for Sprint. It combines some of the latest technologies with the fundamental necessities people need in order to create a robust and powerful smartphone able to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Motorola's Droid X or Apple's iPhone 4. From an 8MP camera with LED flash on the back, to its 1.3MP camera on the front for possible self-portraits or video conferencing, to its 1Ghz Snapdragon processor...the list goes on and one.

The point I'm trying to make here is that the phone is already great. Couple it with a great service like Sprint and throw in 4G, and it's clear that HTC is and will be standing tall from here on out.

Great phone! You will love it!

I love this phone!!! I wanted a smartphone to use with straight talk no contract plan. This is perfect! I've had it for about 2 months and it is very easy to use. Most features are accessible with the touch of an icon such as wifi, mobile web, bluetooth, and so on. I haven't been able to get some apps that I enjoyed on my iPad, but that has nothing to do with the phone. The camera/ camcorder are great as well. I'd be here all day if I listed all the advantages and benefits this phone has. Can't really think of disadvantages off the top of my head, but you need to turn off wifi and web if you don't have need of it. Otherwise, battery life might not seem as good... I find that if I do this, I have access when I need it and my battery still lasts all day! To sum it up, I love the phone and I will use it for a good while. If you purchase one, I don't think you' ll regret it!Read full review...

OWN ONE. Read below for specific details as to WHY you should....

This phone is aboslutely AMAZING once unlocked and rooted.

*** For you to consider: ***

The phone was originally criticized for its high energy consumption, which results in lower battery life, this was virtually the only negative aspect of the phone.
HTC has tried to resolve this by including options that lower energy consumption, but this greatly reduces performance of the phone, thus limiting it.

Rooting the phone allows access and improved functionality, which unleashes the true hardware capability of the phone. I currently have the Android Revolution 5.1.7 custom ROM installed, which improves battery life extensively, general speed, and has fixed several major bugs. For more information, refer to the online forums on XDA-Developers.

*** Why this phone stands out: ***

This phone is not for the light user, it has everything you need for great visual & audio pleasure. It runs every application on the Android Market smoothly. It has fast mobile data speed (although not 4G capable, it is 3G/HSPA/LTE ready), thus making this phone ideal for AT&T (in the States) and Rogers (in Canada). It has GPS, and other premium functions to make it literally a handheld PC.

The strong point of this phone is that it has a large multitouch SLCD screen. It can also be fully customized, and tweaked (even with simple Android Market Apps) to make it perform at the TOP OF THE LINE for Android smartphones. Any enthusiast of technology and gadgets WOULD recommend this phone, it is highly prized and to a great extent: Unique.

Try owning this smartphone and you will not be disapointed.
The price, the features, the look, everything, all in the palm of your hands.

Finally: If you don't know how to unlock/root this phone; find one that is being sold unlocked+rooted. There are many resources out there. I promise.

The perfect phone (minus the battery).

Simply awesome phone. I came from a motorola backflip smartphone, which was the dumbest phone ever. The only thing it did well was tether to my laptop via pdanet. The inspire is a real smartphone. It does everything well. I agree with everyone else, the only weakness is the battery. I am not sure what they were thinking putting such an underpowered battery in such a powerful phone. I do not miss my physical keyboard the backflip offered. In fact, I can type faster on the virtual keyboard of the inspire. I live in a small town and I actually get att 4G (it is called H+ on my phone). My 3g backflip used to get download speeds of .7 Mb/s. My inspire consistently gets 1.7 Mb/s!!!! Awesome speeds! Also, despite the size, it easily fits in my pocket. The phone is slippery by itself, so you will need a rubberized case of some sort or you WILL drop it. Lastly, the phone is so responsive! You touch the screen, it reacts. This is my favorite feature. Something that the backflip sorely lacked. Get this phone!! Just get an extra battery! :)Read full review...
