Heroes Season 2

Heroes is a great series. I started watching it online just as season two ended. A friend put me onto it and I'm hooked. The show is done well, not just a big super hero cliche comic to tv series. Season 1 is great but season 2 is a little weak. The writer strike took place just right in the middle of season 2 so it wasnt actually completed the way the producers originally anticipated. However, there are a lot of important episodes to the story and you wouldnt appreciate season 3 (when it comes out) as much without season 2. I recommend getting the seasons so that you can watch episode after episode without commercials and at your own pace. I dont usually have time to sit down and watch tv so this was perfect. The only problem is that now I have to wait for season 3!Read full review...

HEROES!

Arguably the most talked-about television show of the 2006-2007 season, the Emmy-nominated fantasy Heroes gives viewers blends comic book-style adventure with plotting and characters as rich and layered as any graphic novel or drama series. Creator Tim Kring's premise is deceptively simple – ordinary individuals in locations around the globe discover that they have, for lack of a better term, super powers, and wrestle with this reality while facing challenges both global (the destruction of New York City, for one) and personal (indestructible cheerleader Hayden Panetierre has family issues – serious ones, as the true identity of her adoptive father reveals; Milo Ventimiglia's Peter Petrelli, who absorbs other powers, must overcome his own insecurities). Add to this mix a terrific villain – Zachary Quinto's Sylar, who hunts and kills people with extraordinary powers like our heroes – and viewers have a riveting series that exhibits an almost-perfect balance of cliffhanger thrills (the action and special effects are truly impressive for a network program) and genuine drama that sets the show apart from most speculative fiction (save, perhaps, the revived Battlestar Galactica, which it compares too favorably). The seven-disc set of Heroes: Season One offers a wealth of extras for fans, who may be familiar with some of them through the NBC.com website, especially the cast commentaries, which are featured on half of the episodes. Kring is featured on the 73-minute uncut pilot episode, which for some viewers, may be even better than the network version; the main difference is the degree of character development, including an entire storyline for D.L. Hawkins that isn't featured in the broadcast version. Also on deck are some 50 deleted scenes from the episodes, several by-the-books making-of featurettes, including coverage of the special effects and stunt work, and a profile of artist Tim Sale, whose illustrations are used for Isaac Mendez's prophetic artwork. Prospective buyers should note that while all of these supplemental features are included on the HD-DVD version of this set, the special Web-connectivity elements are not available here.Read full review...

Love it

Say what you will about Season 2, some absolutely hated it but myself, I actually liked it however it definitely is a step down from the magnificent Season 1. I agree the first few episodes spend too much time on little things but I think after those slower introduction episodes, the pace picks up and the writers keep you thrilled. Again, the characters are front and center and nearly everyone gets their own great story arc. Personally, I liked Hiro's arc for being sent back to help Kensi and then eventually realizing that his hero isn't who he is said to be. There were a few throw away arcs but as a whole season, it worked in keeping me thrilled & entertained and the fantastic season ender promises an exciting third season. The PQ is good however I noticed a lot of noise though-out but other than that, Colours are vibrant, contrast is pretty solid and the picture is overall sharp and a good improvment from the original HD broadcast. The audio is also very good. Dialogue is clear and the action does give a fine dynamic experience. It isn't a powerhouse but considering it is a t.v. budget not mega action flick, I was pleased with AQ. Universal packed this sets with tons of extras, audio & visual commentaries on episodes, featurettes, BD-Live features and more, it should definitely keep fans happy. Heroes is an amazing show and is easily one of my favourites so needless to say I was expecting a lot from this season and I wasn't disappointed. Although there are a few issues I have with it, I feel they did what they could because of the writer's strike cutting it short. All the regular cast is there and most get exciting stories and they have introduced us to new characters that show good promise such as Elle played wonderfully by Kristen Bell. The PQ is good, the audio is solid and the extras are fantastic so overall, if your a fan of the show, there is no reason not to pick this up and remind yourself of the stellar events that occured and that are going to be answered very soon.Read full review...

Heroes Season 2 - Blu-ray

Wish the season was longer but it's pretty awesome nonetheless. The additional content was interesting, especially in explaining why the season turned out the way it did (in large part due to the writer's strike).Read full review...

Short but fun

The shortest season of heroes will leave you wanting more right away! You will meet and love new characters but also you will see some important changes.
