A very pleasant surprise

I usually buy Seagate drives, but this one came along at a great price. Very pleasant surprise when I tested the drive read/write performance. The data transfer rate was a horizontal line at about 120MB/sec for the first 500GB or so, then slowly started to roll off but the end datarate was still impressive, and the downslope wasn't as sharp as for most drives.

Don't buy a hard drive from someone that knows anything about them other than needs to be formatted.

It does not work and cannot format. The actuator cycles which is the only activity from the drive. Poorly packaged. It had no padding of any kind. It was treated like a brick and was expected to survive. Hard drives are a delicate mechanical marvel. They need to be treated as such.

Hitachi drives in general are very good and reliable. This was a bad example.Read full review...
