One more knotch on the barrell for Agent 47...

Hitman has always been one of my favorite series, and Blood Money for the 360 follows closely in the footsteps of its accomplished predecessors. Intense gameplay, exciting stories, and a varied assortment of unique weapons make this game a must play. The only reason I've deducted a star from Hitman: Blood Money is for its long, long levels. This game takes a great investment of time to truly master and enjoy. Not that that's the main problem, as I am also a devout player of RPGs and am therefore no stranger to hours upon hours of gameplay for the sole purpose of levelling up etc. However, the 30-40 minute levels bear no increase in 47's skills, and therefore I have no interest in sitting down to play hours and hours of Hitman. If Ubisoft had managed to integrate some form of levelling for great performances, this would have been a surefire classic. But as it stands, Blood Money is still an amazing game that any and all 360 owners should pick up.Read full review...

Classic Killer!!!

The Hitman series keeps on going and going. In this fourth installment you are back as Agent 47 to do what a hitman does. This would be a great game for downloadable content instead of making you buy a whole new game but at least it's not taking that much space on my hardrive. Some of the new missions are quite brilliant while others feel rehashed and people are way to paranoid as if everyone in the building knows a hitman is coming to kill somebody and you're the only bald guy to blame. Having a hideout is nice but kind of a waste of time, not as easy to navigate like "The Punisher". It is a lot easier to use your stealth weapons this time though but trying to capture people for disguises can sometimes prove difficult. Graphics are much better than the Xbox or PS2. If you just have to have this game this is the version to go with.
No online or downloadable content in a game that could be perfect for such a thing can easily be viewed as a waste. Imagine navigating a room full of people searching for other online agents who are trying to get to your target first without alerting you or the competition.
Rent before you buy. 3.5/5

Agent 47's true identity... Sam Fisher!!!

Welcome to the fourth installment in the Hitman Franchise. Hitman Blood Money brings out the best in the series, but still stumbles in the gameplay department. I have never been a fan of the 3rd person view, but you are almost forced to use this view because a 1st person perspective doesn't offer a wide enough view to encompass your surroundings when setting up a hit. Fear not, at least the camera angles have been tweaked and are now a lot more useful than previous installments. I realize this game stresses freedom of choices to carry out the hit in any manner you see fit, but the gameplay remains linear when striving to acheive the silent assassin ratings within missions. There are not many perfect ways to complete a mission and in most instances there is just one way to really complete the mission with the perfect rating. This game features plenty of weapons, disquises, levels and a reasonably high replay value. Minor blemishes aside, Hitman Blood Money is definitely the crown jewel in this distinguished franchise and is a must for any game collection.Read full review...

Hitman: Blood Money for the Xbox 360

I bought this game for its great stealth-action properties. And do you know what? It's a great stealth-action game. Aiming and sniping enemies can be little hard due to the realism - zooming-in will cause your sights to move even if you are not touching any of the controls. This is due to Agent 47's "heartbeat" and "breathing rhythms." So just be patient - you are a sniper afterall and the enemies will have no idea where you are, let alone that you are even there at all [when you finally get it right]. Close-Quarters combat is ridiculous, almost non-existent, and quite frustrating. But then again, this is a STEALTH-action game, not a shooter [think Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series, rather than Halo/Gears of War] - being sneaky about killing people is the point of the game. So if you are sneaky about killing people, then you won't have any of those problems.

There is only one way to beat the missions - the flawless way. The direct approach of running-and-gunning [Halo] will not work, so try changing into disguises, sneaking around the areas, and doing recon-work before attempting to accomplishing your mission goals [again, the point here is stealth, stealth, stealth]. You could also try playing the same level on the Easiest setting first and find out how the mission is supposed to play out and specifically what you have to do before playing on the harder, more satisfying settings. If patience doesn't work for you, then you can expect a whole lot of frustration and dying in a trial-and-error setting.

I liked the game and gave it a 4 out of 5.

Fixed Things That Were Flawed

I've been a fan of the Hitman games since the 2nd in the series. I bought Blood Money for the computer and just decided to get it for my 360 as well. This probably already shows that it's a good game, however there are some bits to it that could have been changed.

This time, the game takes an easier approach and doesn't take as much logic and reasoning to figure out as the second one did. When playing on the easier difficulties all you really have to do it open your map and you can see exactly where to go and what to do. Of course there aren't a lot of ways to take out your targets, as I had hoped. Well, there are many ways, however there are really only maybe two or three realistic Silent Assassin ways to take them out.

Silent Assassin (SA) is the best game rating you can get in the game. After each mission you are rated on your performance, and if you screw up once you usually can't get the SA rating. This can be a bit frustrating on Professional difficulty (the toughest one) as there are no saves permitted in this mode and you usually just end up playing the same thing over and over again until you get it right. This leads to some very repetitive times and can get on your nerves.

The game did fix some things that were a bit strange in the 2nd Hitman game. The enemies don't constantly watch you any more and you don't have to be constantly walking around them. The older enemies I found were too suspicious of you and if you just looked at them wrong they would start shooting at you.

The great number of weapons and things are great, however the one main thing I don't understand in Blood Money is this; every level you net an amount of money depending on your performance. The only thing you can buy with this money is upgrades for your guns. And I don't mean just stealthy, helpful upgrades. You can upgrade your M4A1 to look like it was meant for a Marine. When you're carrying around a fully decked out Rifle, Hitman loses it's sneakiness that should always be there. You don't feel covert anymore, and you really only use the M4A1 when you want to rush into the level and kill everyone.

And the sad thing about doing this is it's possible. You can just run throughout the whole level killing everyone in sight with your upgraded shotgun. Also, the best upgrades come at the end of the game when you only have about 2 more missions left. A Hitman should be able to buy his upgrades any time he wants, especially one as renown at Agent 47.

So Blood Money will be great for you the first one or two times through, however they could have improved it much more. It didn't seem as polished as it could have been and some of the decisions the developers made are just boggling.

Don't let all this bad talk I'm giving it make you turn away from buying it. It's worth the buy in my opinion and will leave you wanting more.

An enjoyable game, though not without some challenges.

This game is great. Mutiple ways to finish levels adds to replayability. The levels are fun. Getting a Silent Assassin Rating is very satisfying.

Not for the impatient though. I wouldn't say the game is difficult but there is a bit of a learning curve and due to the multiple ways of doing things, the game really have a hint system. Level exploration is a must.

Some mechanics of the game seem a little pointless. The guns are pretty much ignored if you're going for the Silent Assassin Rating which make later missions less likely for you to get noticed.

If you screw up, you can go back to the last save. Higher difficulties mean no saves allowed which means restarting a whole level. This might get frustrating for some.

I had a blast, but its not worth owning. RENT IT.

Working full time and going to school it took me just a week of playing to unlock everything. Not to say the game isn't good. It is a lot of fun, I mean who doesn't love killing pedophiles. It sort of feels like a Sims game actually. But its replay value is pretty weak. For those who love gore, you will be wondering why peoples heads don't get blown off, or amputations with explosions. I especially enjoyed the creative ways to take out your victims. Like drenching a grill with gasoline so it burns your victim to a crisp! Hitman will provide a few hours of great fun, but nothing worth 50-60 bucks for a couple weeks.Read full review...

Hitman: Bringing the contract kill to a whole new level

Hitman: Blood Money is the fourth installment to the series and is by far the best yet. Coming a long way since his first appearance, Agent 47 has added a few new tricks to his bag to make his targets pass into the afterlife a bit easier.

The story starts off as a retelling of events and Agent 47’s story for Blood Money starts back in 2004, and each mission leads to the present day, and ultimately a climatic ending for our favorite Hitman. I won’t say anymore, though it was a better ending than a majority of games out there right now.

The game play has been improved since it previous entry, and on the Xbox 360, it is easily known. The first real big improvement is the camera work and angles, improving the ease at which the environment can be observed and locate the prime areas take out your targets. Another area of improvement in game play is the amount of ways that the levels can be completed, the various levels of stealth at your hand, and the ability to use almost anything as a weapon. The best addition is the way that many of the deaths can be made to look like accidents. There is nothing better than making a pyrotechnics show go faulty, catching your mark on fire, and having them fall into a fish tank full of great whites…

A downfall for the Xbox 360 is that, though improved over the regular Xbox version, still does not live up to the potential of the graphic capability of the system. Another downfall of the game is the loading times between levels and deaths. It can be tedious, though it is worth the gaming opportunity.

Overall, I had a great time playing this game and went through it twice because I enjoyed it so much. I highly recommend it, especially if you need to blow off some steam after a bad day of work.

Good, but not great

I notice a lot of reviewers are comparing this Hitman game to others in the series. This is the first and only Hitman game that I have ever played, so I will be honest about how it compares with other XBOX 360 games. The only downfall that I saw was the graffics. I was not impressed at all. The agent looked very angular. For those who have seen the graffics that the 360 is capable of, you will be disappointed. That said, the game is very entertaining. You can buy upgrades for your weapons, figure out different ways to kill you contracts, and kill whomever you want... even sit back and snipe off an entire NOPD unit. So, you will enjoy this game, and my only negative feeling was that the creators did not use xbox 360 for everything that it can do.Read full review...

Awesome game, 4.9/5

I give this game a 4.9 because although the game is awesome, and the graphics are amazing on the 360, it left me hanging. I hate cliff hangers. HOW DID THE WOMEN GET OUT?!?!?! SHE WAS RIGHT THERE!!!! Anyways... I also thought it could have used a few more levels. It took about a month of very mild game play to finish it, which is me playing around 2 levels a week. A hardcore gamer could have this done in a day or two in the rookie, or normal modes. The game play is smooth, and the combinations of how and when to get to your target seem endless. You can kill everyone, or sneak in and make it look like an accident. The graphics are amazing, it is the best looking game I have seen on the 360 so far. The levels are well thought out, complete with bathrooms, showers, kitchens...etc. Logical placement of these things make the environment seem believable. This also helps with your mission plan, you can hide in closets, or bathrooms awaiting a target. The levels are manageable in size, not to large or overwhelming. It is pretty hard to mistake your target, or where the game wants you to be at a given moment, although if you do decide not to follow the game play you wont fail your mission, or disrupt the final outcome. In fact, if you just go in and shoot up your targets without regard for witnesses, you can still exit and advance to the next level...if you don't get killed by the security first. BUY THE UPGRADES, follow the upgrade paths for the weapons and health options, it makes the more difficult levels easier to deal with. I found myself using the pistols a lot, and not even carrying weapons in a few levels. One more minor complaint is that some of the bystanders did stupid things after I had just shot up a room, like continuing what they were doing BEFORE I just killed everyone in plain site, with a loud riffle. A museum employee showing exhibits witnessed me shoot all his tourists, and a few seconds later continued on the exhibit with the single remaining survivor. Keep in mind, this was in normal mode, not expert. In expert the museum guy would have grabbed the nearest firearm and clipped me...but still, that would never happen.

Overall, FUN game. The story keeps your attention, and makes you want to complete the next mission to find out whats next. Some nights I had a hard time putting it down. I also tried to force different outcomes in the story, it is possible...but I wont ruin it for anyone. I ended up trying each extreme in the levels, killing everyone to killing just the targets. Some levels it is impossible to kill everyone, not enough ammo! You can just strangle them all at that point! The advanced AI (expert mode) is fun, but difficult. Killer graphics. Great game.
