Honda HHT35SLTA Straight Shaft Gas Semi-Automatic String Trimmer

Pricey but worth it.

I received the Honda trimmer fully assembled and added the oil that was included in the box. An included pair of safety glasses was a thoughtful addition. I added gas, choked and primed the engine and it came to life on the first pull. The first thing I noticed was how quiet the engine was compared to the Ryobi S430 4-cycle trimmer that it replaced.

It's heavier than most line trimmers but has a shoulder harness to help with the additional weight. I'm 68 and had no problem using this trimmer without the harness. It revved smartly without hesitation, has plenty of power and had no problem trimming along the fence, shop and deck. These are pretty much light duty chores for this trimmer. Having owned three Honda lawn mowers and being absolutely satisfied with each one, I decided that a Honda line trimmer would be a worthy addition and it did not disappoint. One could spend less money for a line trimmer but the old adage applies, you get what you pay for.

If you're looking for a top-notch piece of equipment that is quiet, dependable, easy to start and has plenty of power, then buy a Honda. It has a two year residential warranty.Read full review

Tangled mess!

I was cautioned about loading string and not CROSSINGS the two strings. So what happens the first thing I started using the trimmer? Whoever loaded the string did such a lousy job of loading that I had to stop at least ten times and undo the tangles. I have since replaced the head with a quick load head. Powerful Trimmer

This trimmer has all the power that I could ever need. I'm 120 lbs and need to use the shoulder strap to try and keep control of it because of it's weight. It'll whip through the ground like a tornado if you let it get away from you. You get what you pay for and this trimmer doesn't disappoint. It started with an easy first pull every time. Honda fourstroke weedeater

What an awesome machine! I should have gotten one a long time ago! Well worth the money. I bought the 35 cc and it seems to have enough power to do anything I want including heavy brush cutting and saplings. The only con is it’s a bit heavy for me but I’m an old guy and in bad shape. This thing is awesome.

Always had 2 cycle and wanted to try a 4 cycle trimmer. Last was a homelite straight shaft and it always left that vibration tingling in the hands with a sore back. I bit the bullet and paid the price for this Honda and I'm happy that I did. This thing is a little longer and less vibration, that's better on the back and hands. Just used this thing for the first time about 2 hours straight on a single tank. 1/4 to 1/3 throttle is all that was needed. Glad I got this instead of another cheap 2 cycle vibrater. Bought this to take out Japan. barberry and multiflora rose in my woodlands. This, coupled with a 20 tooth carbide tooth blade takes out these two plus vines and everything up to 2in. Have fun keeping up with it. You must wear a harness or strap and balance it at the right height before starting because it's fairly heavy.Read full review
