A Good Effort for the Saturn Shooter

I will also say that the graphics are better for the Arcade version like kit kit stated earlier. The Saturn Version could've been much better. I am not sure what the game developers were thinking at that time, but it's too late to do something about it now. I bought the Japanese version from a small game store back in '98 or '99. Then I bought a Brand New Japanese House of the Dead on here for $10. Lucky me. The Japanese version would be the best to get ahold of because the U.S. version is rather expensive. I saw the PAL version sell for a reasonable price months ago, but I missed on that. The PAL version can be rather expensive too. I've seen it go for about 140 GBP($70) before the last one I mentioned. I still enjoy playing the game. Be sure to pick it up if the price is right. Disappointing arcade to home translation

The House of the Dead is an arcade smash hit released by Sega. Sega decided to bring the arcade experience to Saturn owners. However, the Sega Saturn version just does not deliver.

Due to Sega Saturn's limited hardware power in producing 3D graphics, it has a hard time translating the arcade version. The graphics looks chunky and the objects do not fall into place correctly. Nevertheless, Sega has done a good job pulling the whole game together.

The good thing about this game is that you can choose multiple path so the replay value is high. It also supports 2 players and a stunner (gun). Stay away from this game if you are using a Saturn joypad to play through the game.

If you have never played the arcade version, give this a try and you might like blasting numerous zombies. Otherwise, I recommend saving your money and get the House of the Dead 2 for the Dreamcast.Read full review...

House Of The Dead Sega Saturn Awesome Game

I love the game and it works very well. Granted, it's the Japanese version but that is all I can find, but I do have a disk that can override any region. Other than that, good game.

1 of the best Light Gun games

One of the hardest to hind House of the Dead games. I have played House of the Dead 2,3,4 and overkill on every platform they have been on. But I have House of the Dead 1.

I finely got House of the Dead 1 and it 1 of the best Light Gun games I have played ,I even think it may be 1 of the key Sega Saturn games.

A must have for a fan of the Sega Saturn or a fan of Light Gun games.Read full review...
