Beautiful crafted songs

Beautifully crafted album from when Lightfoot was performing at his best. Lovely songs.
The original title track “Sit down young stranger” is a very poignant song. Love that one, and I can see why he originally wanted that as the title track. It is not really commercial but just a beautifully written ballad about a prodigal son.
Also the last track “The Pony Man” has the most beautiful lyrics and is like a child’s dream - absolutely love that one too.
Then of course there is the title track “If you could read my mind” which is the Gordon Lightfoot song that just about everyone in the world knows. Read full review...
