Overall Best Value and Easy Installation
Be aware that the listing information may lead one to believe that it is "corded" meaning includes a cord or wiring. It does not have it included. Not a problem with the item itself; just the "automated" details in the listings.
I purchased this as a replacement for one I installed in 2014. Directions show you using the included hex tool. Did not need it at all. Easy to replace as all I did was remove the power to the unit (DOUBLE CHECK!), disconnected the drain hose from the dishwasher and main discharge pipe. Easy to do. I left the original parts of the sink baffle and lower mounting ring attached to sink rim itself in place. It was a perfect fit with new unit. Be sure to read the directions once or twice and then follow the step by step info for install. If you do have a dishwasher discharge hose be sure to punch out the small plastic disk as described in the directions. I used a large screwdriver and kept tapping the handle end until the blade end popped out the disc. A couple good whacks did it cleanly. Remember to turn unit over and ensure the disc falls out. Dispose of in recycle.BE SURE POWER IS OFF FIRST. Now hook white wire to white, black wire to black and the ground wire to unit at ground screw. Seat it from the bottom of sink and ensure the three tabs of mounting ring will engage the ramp part and tap the circular ring until it is secure. It does not have to go all the way; but close to the end. Tap the securing ring until snug and then one more small whack and all done. Be sure the hoses and pipe properly secured. To be sure I had no problems I put a large pan under the disposer and ran the unit a few times and also ran dishwasher one cycle as well as water into the sink. No leaks so I was good to go. Was not a hard job at all. If you are unsure; ask a knowledgeable neighbor for help. Overall easy replacement. Not overly quiet but average for such an appliance. But who cares? It only runs for a few seconds anyway. Remember there is a reset switch on the bottom that will trip the unit if it jams from a fork falling in or some such. Clear the jam and give it a couple of minutes to cool a bit and press the reset back in.
Quality was very good and a bit more expensive than other brands but quality worth the extra bucks. Find one at $95 to $115 including shipping makes it worth the price. Read full review

Solid performer great value
Replaced my older Badger model 1. This one has a slight bit more power. Installation was fairly easy as it used the same hardware as the previous model. The only challenge is to hold the somewhat heavy disposal under the sink as you screw it into place. Other than that it is quite straightforward. This is appropriate for a home with 2-4 people. Not a commercial level disposal. So far no problems. No leaking. Definitely recommended.Read full review

Badger 5 lite review
My mother-in-law had her garbage disposer go out, so she asked me to get her a new one--and install it. Iselected a Badger 5 due to the price as well as the previous reviews I had read. I installed the unit in my mother-in-law's sink and she is very happy with it. She has an old cast iron/ porcelain sink and the unit is quiet in it. Almost too quiet! I guess she forgot it on once due tot hat for a short time. It does not vibrate when empty either. A smooth running unit.. We go to her home every now and then and she always mentions how much she likes that unit. It was easy to install. It does not take too much power so the regular wiring and breaker that is dedicated to it are fine. When the time comes that I need another garbage disposer, I think I will try to find another Badger 5 based on the performance of it so far. Read full review

Make sure you buy the Disposal with a cord IF you have an outlet under the sink otherwise be sure to get one without a cord!
This product is an excellent value and an inexpensive price for what it does.
Buyers need to be very cautious about one thing. Basically, this Garbage Disposal comes configured one of two ways, but it is still the Insinkerater 5 1/2 HP. It comes with or without the AC cord attached. Make sure that if your old one is wired in, not plugged in, that you purchase the one which doesn't have the cord included. You CAN'T remove the cord without cutting or grinding off the plastic fitting! I chose to install an electrical box with a GFI receptacle. That was a LOT of trouble with dry wall anchors and hard to reach dark place under the sink. Youtube videos only show the one which is attached to the wire with wire nuts. IF you already have an outlet under the sink then by all means buy the one with the cord, though you could add a cord much easier than try to take one off! Read full review

Great Disposal
It plugged right in to replace my original Badger 1. I didn't bother to replace the drain flange in the sink as it was working fine. The original Badger 1 finally died from a hole corroding through the die cast body after only 27 years of service! I don't think you can ask for better than that so the same unit with a bit more horsepower seemed like the obvious choice. A great disposal at a very fair price. I probably won't live long enough to need its replacement.Read full review

Good unit, plenty of power
I replaced a like unit that was about 20 years old. it was easy to chang out. The older unit was beginning to rust out inside and was not cutting things fine enough. 1/2 horse is plenty of power.
