I might be jumping the gun, because it's only been installed for a bit over a week. Anyway, so far, so good. The CPU, along with a new SSD, has sped up the laptop quite noticeably. As for installation, it's certainly doable (I did it) if you are handy and are willing to take the time and proceed methodically. Otherwise, get an experienced person to do it for you. Amazing.

The installation of the CPU went flawlessly. Replaced my dead Pentium B950 I never tought this laptop could preform that well.

The way the CPU was packaged scared me at first (wrapped in plastic with bubbles) but it was packed very well. No bent pins, nothing. Absolutly no termal paste left on it. Super clean.

It's funny how my B950 often got over 96C, but this one... Even though it has 10W higger TDP I haven't seen it go higher than 82C with Prime 95 running.

Didn't really change anything, but good processor!

Great condition, great price. Easy installation. Just pooped it in, and it was ready to go. Didn't really know if it would work, as one is a socket type A, and this is a socket type B. Great upgrade for Asus k53e motherboard

Upgrad d from the core i5 that came factory several years ago. This processor runs a higher wattage, but it's never working hard. I'm not a gamer, just a student. With an older SSD, it takes about 40 seconds to restart, and 13 seconds to power up from a shutdown. No more waiting. The install itself is a bit tricky, lots of screws and a certain order to it, if you're good with keeping track of that kind of stuff it's no big deal. I maxed out my ram to 8 GB at the same time. This thing keeps cool temps. BIOS 221 is the most current. All in all, it took about 2 hours from start to finish, including getting the new BIOS, cloning the old harddrive, and powering back on. A still powerfull cpu even in 2022. Easy to install if the laptop motherboard accepts it. Make sure a good thermal compound is added and watch those temps stay low.

I upgraded my toshiba laptop from an i3-2310M to this i7-2670QM because I upgraded to Windows 10 and i3 2nd gen was just not cutting it. I upgraded to this and it's like having a new laptop again. CPU works fine after reboot.

It's annoying process to access the cpu, but once the motherboard is out, installation is incredibly easy. My computer is about 176% faster now according to cinebench.
