4core/8thread performance for cheap

I'm a huge fan of this processor for business use and personal use.

Pros:
--4core/8thread performance
--overclocks amazingly
--cheap due to the number of servers that are being decommisioned from this era.
--powerful as heck for use in a personal system but also amazing for custom router/nas/server applications.

Cons:
--45nm chip so it gets a bit toasty with and without overclock
--1156 motherboards for home use that can overclock are expensive
--Only able to use 1333mhz and 1600mhz DDR3 (max 4gb per slot)
--Not higher factory overclock (not this processors fault but i needed one more con to match my list of 4 pros)

If you know what you're doing and or have a 1156 motherboard, I would definitely recommend this processor over the i7-820. Because 1156 Xeon processors were meant for home server use, there isnt a dual socket board for it so most 1156 motherboards natively support them unlike the 771 xeons needing a modified 775 motherboard.Read full review...

nice cpu i7 xeon basically works great in my desktop pc ...

runs hot on a stock pc heat sink id go with a server grade blower heat sink if youre putting on a deaktop with speed step .😂😂 i got it on my desktop i paid 15$ for it ... way cheaper then the i7 in my opinion it prefforms as good as a i7 ive used both ... you dont need ecc ram to run this in a desktop works great in mine its just a asus mobo ...
i was using the i5 but that things way slower in comparison i noticed a big difference playing battle front with the xeon compared to i5 ill use xeon any day 😂😂😂 best purchase yet just have to know the work arounds ... id recommend this for a server also as it has high computing capabilities all in all its a beast works great i got simular cpu in my ibm x3550m2 its 2x xeons 4 core cpu 8 threads and its great for virtual machine just the small hard drives are exspencive is all 😂Read full review...

Cheap and Fast.

I bought this CPU to upgrade my 8 year old Intel Core i3-540, which I overclocked to 4.2GHz for a year. 2 cores was't cutting it for me anymore so I decided on this CPU as it is basically an i7 for cheaper. Overall, my game FPS nearly doubled in some games. It renders videos faster than before and the entire computer feels faster than it ever was.
