Best choice for LGA1156 after Intel® Xeon® Processor L3426

Its a good stable 1156 LGA chip, equivalent to i7 870,
does well under stress.

normal operating temp about 70c-80c,
idling at around 55c-65c (room temp 22c)

overclock-able to 3.1Ghz with stable daily use.
Is a Quad core with 8 threads.

Cons: may get hot up-to 80s no ill effects but cooler must be reliable.
eats 95W so power supply better be good. or you can get (Intel® Xeon® Processor L3426) which consumes 2x less power with 90% of 3450 efficiency.
works well still being clocked at 3.8+Ghz but 4 times large cooler than normal needed, and RAM must support higher clocks and temps (server type) :)

good value

dropped straight into the slot with fresh paste and did itself a double reboot so windows would be able to use the extra oomph and away it went. cheap upgrade for my ancient dell t3500.
wish I could upgrade the ram as easy lolRead full review...

X5650 Great processor.

This processor I picked up for £20 slotted straight into my son's ageing 1366 motherboard as a cheap upgrade to his Xeon W3530. We overclocked it straight away to 4.00GHz with no problem, it keeps nice and cool, cooler than the previous quad core. With its 6 cores and 12 threads running at 4.00 GHz it is easily 50% faster than his previous processor. I recommend wholeheartedly buying this chip if you have a compatible motherboard. Cheap and very quick.

You must check that your 1366 motherboard is compatible with the Xeon processors as not all X58 chipset motherboards are. If this is the case then I'm afraid your only path to a 6 core processor is the i7 X980, which still might be worth it if the alternative is building a new system completely including Motherboard, Ram, and processor.

Fantastic value for money.

This is a fantastic processor upgrade for any server with a low tier processor.
I have a HP Proliant ML330 G6 that had an E5504. The X5650 proved to be an excellent upgrade option.
