The best price/performance ratio for life expectancy of old equpment

The best price/performance ratio to upgrade older equipment. My Toshiba Satellite A-205 from 2006 (already upgraded to SSD and max. 4GB of memory) displayed higher benchmarks and a general performance improvement. It does not run very much faster, but rather smoother against the original T5300. Combined with the 64-bit Windows 7, it still makes a very usable piece of hardware for general purposes. The T7200 runs some 10-12 degrees C hotter, but that is no drama for what the machine does.Read full review...

Good overall processor.

For some reason my T5600 runs quicker and cooler than my T7200. Out here in Death Valley we have to worry about HEAT. If you read on most sites, just because they operate faster it does not reflect on the overall performance.

In my opinion this would be more suited for a machine that shares a lot of files and stable transfers rather than quick operations of programs.

Thats just MY experience with it though.

Great for upgrading Core Duo iMacs (iMac 4,1) to C2D iMacs (iMac 5,1)

After C2D upgrade, iMac 4,1 board firmware can be flashed to 5,1 and OS patched beyond Apple's support cutoff (Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion)

Well worth the few bucks paid.

Upgraded an old Dell Inspiron 6400. Thought I'd be able to squeeze out the last ~500MB of it's 4GB RAM, because of the 64-bit CPU, but alas. Windows still shows ~3.5GB, the laptop's a lot faster than it used to be though.

There are faster Dell 6400 CPUs available out there, but the GHz/price ratio for the T7200 is just right.

Great Processor Upgrade

I upgraded the processor on an Apple Mac Mini 1.5 GHZ Core Solo to this Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz processor and it works great. Nice way to get more life out of your Mac Mini, and also make it 64bit and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion compatible.Read full review...
