Great bang for the buck

Chip arrived very well packaged, it was clean and in excellent condition. Popped it into my board and with a fresh install of windows was up and running in less than an hour. A great upgrade for anyone with an older machine sill using a Core 2 Duo processor.Read full review

One of the best Quad Cores ever

This quad core may not be an extreme edition or even the fastest in its class of processor's but it's versatility sets it apart for many reasons:

1. if you love to overclock then look no further than this processor great scaling and cool temps mean you can get to whatever speeds you want provided you have the proper cooling hardware.

2. Great for music making and processor intensive tasks. I mean this should come as no surprise as it is an Intel but many times I have trusted on this processor for my Music making programs because it doesn't get bogged down when encoding, sampling, applying multiple effects this processor has handled it all in stride without missing a beat.(pun intended)

3. Great for gaming, Now this is more about older games pre 2012 I mean honestly many better and faster processor's have come along but if you just need something to kick back and get nostalgic with this is the processor I would choose. Now obviously you need to pair this with a great graphics card and there are way to many options to choose from.

For the price I love this processor and consider it for almost any project when building a PC whether for personal reasons or if someone wants a used PC for a good price.

Good upgrade for old Dell workstation

I bought that CPU for my uncle, he is 70 years old, send it to him, and consult on the phone, while he was installing it himself on his computer, so far it's been best upgrade for his Dell XPS410 Workstation, everything start working faster, windows opens and closes with no hesitation, like before. The installation was easy (even for old school non PC technician), Delivery was fast and prompt. it is best CPU for the money so far I can find, the next Q6700 cost 50% more, with less then 5% more frequency. Q6600 - 2.4Gh vs. Q6700 - 2.66Gh.
So far He is very happy and love his computer again. He can run Pinnacle Studio 17, which was not possible before and can do a lot of video and photo editing with his upgraded computer. Also I bought 8 gig of RAM and take a leap of fate, since not every RAM can work on that Dell model, guess I'm get lucky, works as a charm.
Dell XPS410, Win7 64 ult, 8 gig RAM, Q6600, 1Tb - RAID5 HDD.

Pretty good for the price

4 core processor that can be over clocked for under 20$! Good cpu for old computers with a 775 socket motherboard, if paired with a decent graphics card then can be used as a cheap gaming pc.
The only con is that the cpu gets very toasty under high load, so if using stock Intel cooler its better not to over clock.Read full review

Dual Core, Quad

Replaced my tired old Inspiron 530's Core 2, Dual chip, works faster. I know it's older technology but with older Pentium Computer motherboards, we are sometimes limited to Core 2 Processors. This Processor is as fast as I can get with an old motherboard.Read full review

Quality Buy for use such as restoring and setting up older pc rigs for drone workhorse duties etc...

If you find yourself rebuilding an older machine you came across and are upgrading the CPU to its highest potential class of chip what's important for me to tell you about this one is that it has a nice big cache on it, and that does help it a lot to perform as pretty good CPU for those older rigs. It's stable, reliable, and does those 90% repetitious tasks with a breeze. One thing to keep in mind though is you may also want to update your heat sink, depending on the machine you drop this into to, and how demanding the programs you expect to run on it. It is an efficient chip, but being a hard worker, it can heat up under some of the workloads of newer more modern apps (especially games, some of which it simply can't run at all) expecting a more recent chip technology and also equipped with even more cores. Don't have unreasonable expectations and you'll be just fine. Considering how dirt-cheap this is you can rebuild an old rig gotten for peanuts at a thrift store or neighborhood church rescue mission donated salvage store and restore it for a lot of standalone workhorse usage. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Have multiple rigs and distribute the workload. This CPU is an ingredient for that mindset, at a budget price the savvy amateur or entrepreneur startup can live with.Read full review

Intel LGA 775 Core 2 Quad CPU

My performance has increased dramatically as expected. I'm able to have multiple browsers open at once with a program or 2 also running. My computer will be even faster once I change to a better CPU Heatsink and Fan and Add some better Case Fans. The Fans in it are cheap and need to be switched out asap.Read full review

New life to old Dell Optiplex 745's

I had a bunch of old optiplex 745 computers with the stock, low-end 2.13 GHz core-2 dual processors. By upgrading the CPU to a 2.4 GHz core2 quad (q6600) and changing out the hard drive for a solid-state-drive, these computers are quite snappy and useful. The CPU upgrade takes about 2-3 minutes and provides a noticeable improvement. I've done over a dozen such upgrades with used chips from ebay (usually about $20-25 each, shipping included) and had no problems with any of them...Read full review

Does the job okay

Upon install, the CPU reads an idle temperature of 75 degrees Celsius. I have cleaned installed windows 10 and have no other programs running concurrently. I have purchased brand new thermal grease and have seated the CPU properly. Browsing and surfing the web raises the temperature to nearly 90 degrees. Temperatures are therefore extremely high. Overtime it might do damage to my motherboard. Wouldn't recommend this product.Read full review
