Virtualbox, here I come!

This processor replaced my older Core 2 Duo. I ran virtualbox on the Duo and it ran rather slowly. But I put this quad in there and now it runs great! Boot up time is great, especially with my SSD. I would recommend to anyone who wants a good upgraded processor, just don't forget the thermal paste!Read full review

Awesome value CPU for small home server!

Perfect CPU for light use media or cloud server. Performs well for the price and the price is just right. Also its 4 cores help much if you are doing multiple things using on the server. Not the best if your are building the beast server, but this is not meant for those servers...Read full review

Brought an old Dell XPS210 back to life as a usable machine!

I used the q6600 to upgrade a dell xps 210 to a 2.4ghz quad core processor, and it works like a champ. It brought life back to this older computer that couldn't run a faster FSB. Note that the latest bios upgrade was necessary for the computer to recognize the processor....

Also, make sure you buy the SLACR version of this processor that has G0 stepping -- the other version won't work in this computer. The SLACR version also runs cooler.

Quad Core CPU

I have found this CPU to be one of the easiest to set up and continues to work great in some of the older computers. It is usually very inexpensive to use in computer upgrades/ repair.

Cheap upgrade for Dell Optiplex7xx

If you're looking to upgrade an older 775 to a good quad core cpu, this is it! I like to build sub $250 rigs to get people off consoles and this Q6600 has no issues running any game out there (as of 2016). Also this Q6600 takes to over clocking like a duck to water! You can get these into the 4.1Ghz+ with water cooling! I stay around 3.2 to 3.7 with a good copper pipe heatsink. If you plan to Overclock make sure to use 800Mghz DDR2 and that they are all the same (matched).Read full review

4 cores are better than 2

Huge performance boost compared to the Core 2 Duo at the same clock speed that it replaced (E6600). Windows 7 WEI score went from 5.9 to 7.1!
