Just a good old fashioned comedy, with no political correctness rubbish going on. The British continue to make us laugh and at the same time , laugh at themselves!! The low production values count for nothing against the scripting and the acting - Spike Milligan nominated Windsor Davies' portrayal of the brutish, semi-literate Sergeant-Major Williams as the greatest acting performance he had ever seen.
