Fun levels and smooth graphics/ controls

I recently played the PS2 version and was curious to see how the Xbox 360 version was and it's way better. The PS2 one does the best with what it has to work with, but this a fun game on the 360. The graphics are smooth (no jaggies or rough edges), controls feel nice, and it mixes up the 1st person with 3rd person cover system well.

Normally I'm not a fan of the cover and shoot games because the aiming can be a pain if the camera/ controls are clunky, but they got it right on this one. If you're a fan of Goldeneye on N64 and action games in general, I recommend it.

Quantum of Solace (Xbox 360, 2008)

I played this game at a friends house and was needing to buy it. Introducing a more lethal and cunningly efficient Bond, the game blends intense first-person action with a unique third-person cover combat system that allows players to truly feel what it is like to be the ultimate secret agent as they use their stealth, precision shooting and lethal combat skills to progress through missions. Blending the action of the "Quantum of Solace" feature film with the "Casino Royale" movie, the title propels players into the cinematic experience of international espionage. Based on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine that has been specifically engineered to immerse players in the Bond universe, the Quantum of Solace game delivers high-definition graphics, reactive AI and visually stunning locations inspired by locales portrayed in the films. Quantum of Solace marks the first time players can become the dangerous and cunning Bond as portrayed by Daniel Craig. From silent take downs and sneaking through confined spaces, to one-on-one shoot outs and large scale battles, players experience a variety of gameplay that challenges them to think through situations and choose how they progress, whether it's through covert means or confronting enemies in full force. Advanced combat and Realistic AI: Players engage in both first-person and third-person gameplay that allows gamers to be Bond in unscripted battles against the world's most evil villains and mercenaries. Filled with armed combat, massive explosions and vertigo-inducing chases, gamers are immersed in an authentic Bond universe and drawn into epic movie moments with theatrical camera angles, split screen effects, picture-in-picture sequences, and amazing environments inspired by real world locations such as Montenegro, Venice, Bolivia and Austria. Bringing James Bond to next-gen consoles for the first time, gamers now have the ability to battle online in a variety of modes.Read full review...

Good Bond Game

I am a huge james bond fan and this is by far better then any EA james bond game, but with that said, it still is not as good as goldeneye for nintendo 64. But if you go back to goldeneye now it is virtually unplayable compared to modern games. The cover system in QoS is very similar to R6 Vegas and Gears of War, except it can be buggy at times. This can be frustrating while playing on 007 Agent mode because it is very tough and you die in 1-2 shots. Every review says the game is like 5-7 hours long, but they obviously played it on easy because it took me about 15-20 hours on 007 Agent mode.

Multiplayer is fairly simple, yet fun. The game runs on the Call of Duty 4 game engine, which makes it feel like COD4 in a way, but it tends to have a slower framerate then COD4 which may turn of some people. Leveling up by earning credits and buying guns, mods, and perks is cool. I like how you get to choose what you want to buy as opposed to unlocking certain things with leveling up. Cover is also used in multiplayer which can make for some interesting blind fire kills.

If you are a james bond fan this is definately worth a play. I am glad they stuck to all first person shooter and no lame car missions that last 2 minutes like every EA bond game. that killed the older bond games in my opinion.

Gimpy Graphics, Fun Gameplay, Good Actors = OK Game

PROS
Using Cover - QoS uses the Call of Duty 4 engine, but unlike COD4, you can position your character behind cover and blindfire. This radically changes gameplay, allowing you to move very close to enemies without being killed. Your character can run and slide into cover as well, making you a hard-to-hit target. Nice!

Voice Acting – Activision went all the way and obtained the original actors for the voice overs, except for perhaps Eva Green. This retains the feel of the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace movies.

Choose Your Weapon (Online) – Instead of giving you preselected guns as you earn credits (like COD4 or CODW@W), QoS allows you to pick which guns/perks to spend your credits on (like BFBC). My advice? Get the A4 Hutchison Shotgun, a Silencer, Increased Bullet Damage, a Flak Jacket, Proximity Mines and Double Proximity Mines immediately. You will level the competition.

CONS
Multiplayer Enemy Spawning – QoS has the WORST spawning in any online game I’ve played: COD4, CODW@W, Battlefield: Bad Company, you name it. Enemies will constantly spawn directly behind you, assassinating your character before you have a chance to react. It is very frustrating, particularly when playing Golden Gun Mode. Other times, your character will spawn directly in front of an enemy who has a blazing gun. Before you can fire, you are dead. I HATE the spawning of QoS.

Our team lost a game of Territory because the computer randomly chose to start spawning enemies inside our perimeter. We knocked out everyone, then suddenly enemies start appearing out of thin air behind us. It was pure BS. The spawning of enemies kills the replay value for me.

Gimpy Graphics – For a PS3 game, the graphics aren’t very good. MI-6 operatives look like dweebs with their kayak battle helmets.

Poor Server Support – I cannot count the number of dropped games I have been in. After playing through ¾ of a match, the words “Connection Interrupted” appear and that’s it; no more game, and no credit for all my kills. It seriously bugs. Activision and Treyarch just do not have sufficient support for all the QoS matches going on. You will spend a lot of time simply waiting to get into a match.

Limited Online Levels/Lame HUD Radar – The selection of multiplayer levels is limited, and some, such as The Spa or Chemical Plant, are very confusing. You spend half your time trying to figure out where the enemy is, especially in Golden Gun Mode, only to have someone spawn behind you and blow you away. You cannot pause the game and see a larger map for the whole level; you can only use the dinky HUD radar, which is small and not very helpful.

Overall, Quantum of Solace is an OK FPS, but it fails to be great. It is fun, but no challenge to the Call of Duty series.

Quantum of Solace (Xbox 360)

The next chapter in the Bond saga is a great one indeed! This game is action-packed thoughout and never dies down! Bond has all his classic weapons and gadgets and when the going gets tough he can "open up a can" on unsuspecting baddies. The game is presented in a first-person view that switches to a third-person camera angle when shooting from behind cover (a la Rainbow Six) or taking on enemies in hand-to-hand combat. There is a wide array of weapons available in the game not to mention classic Bond theme music to pull you deeper into the experience. A definite buy for first-person shooter fans!Read full review...

Finally a decent 007 game, since Goldeneye

Finally a decent 007 game, since Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. It isn't nearly as addicting as Goldeneye; however, it is certainly the best 007 game since.

My only complaint is that the hardest difficult level, isn't all that difficult.

The online play is at best, alright. I only got to play it for a few hours, because my 360's DVD drive quit working...So I cannot really judge the online experience.

Good game, good graphics and good control layout.

Excellent game thanks to actor involvement, and more...

When you play a game based on a film, you want to see and hear the characters who played in that film. To me, it's quite a detraction to play any game without those two things, regardless of how good the game is. Even the utilization of a replica of an actors voice; well, I can detect that, and frankly, it's a bit disappointing to the extent where the game itself better be good enough to make up for it. Apparently with Quantum of Solace, the actors put in the initiative enough to allow themselves to both appear and be heard in this game...even though in order to save money the game creators used lines from the film, integrating them within. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are both there to be seen and heard, and that, along with the game itself, makes the game one I'm going to keep and play again instead of merely playing it once and then re-selling on Ebay. I also enjoyed the Opera House seen, as it plays musical excerpts from the film Excalibur; another of my favorites. All in all, Quantum of Solace is an excellent game, and I'll be looking forward to a sequel, so long as they stick to their guns by keeping the real-life actors involved.

The only negative I have to say about the game, is length. The ESRB or some other organization should start adding game-time ratings, that way we can judge whether or not a game is worth that $30-$60 we're stupidly shelling out like drones. I was able to complete this game over one single weekend, playing it off and on Saturday and Sunday, completing the game before 5pm Sunday. (That was on second difficulty level, the default.) Two days is definitely insufficient for any game out there. It took me well over a week to beat the latest Tomb Raider.

Other than that the game is still good, and I still would recommend it.

The BEST James Bond title to date!

Quantum of Solace is hands down the best Bond titled shooter on the market to date. Quantum of Solace blends hand-to-hand combat with fast paced shooting action unlike any other game with the same title. I love this game because it gives you complete control of how to want to play the game...be it guns ablaze or stealthy and silent. One of the most impressive features of this title that is left abandoned by its predecessors is functional weapon sights. If you have played Call of Duty 4 then you already know the controls. If you have a target lined up in your MP5 sights and you fire...the target, pending impact site, will drop. Location damage is a BIG factor in Quantum of Solace, if you want to shoot a target and take it down with only one bullet(possible with all of the weapons in the game) aim for the forehead and fire! If you want to take an enemy by surprise, sneak up behind him, wrap your elbow around his neck and throw him over your shoulder. It is ENTIRELY up to you!

Silenced weapons WILL keep your presence a secret; just make sure that the bad guy you're shooting isn't being watched by other tangos.

I love this game because it has more realism than ANY other bond game on the market today. Although it does lacks the graphic realism of blood from shooting a tango, this game is still a definite must-have for any bond fan. A lengthy campaign that blends the action seamlessly from both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace graces this title.

If you are having ANY second thoughts about buying this title, don't worry...you won't regret it, because after you've played the lengthy campaign, and are just thirsting for more(trust me...you will be) you will walk into that party and when the greeter asks for your name and invitation you will say: "The name is Bond....James Bond".

Good luck and have fun....Mr. Bond.

Quantum of Dissappointment.

James Bond has a new weapon and that is disappointment, and so does Treyarch in its release of this yet another Bond game.

If you didn't like the movie, then you won't like the game, and if you semi liked the movie, you won;t like the game, and if you loved the game you will hate the game.

The game uses the standard COD 4 control set up which makes it easy enough for most players to be used to the controls from the get go, but that is about it if it goes about COD quality. The AI of your opponents is lousy, the graphics are very simplified, and well to an upset, you will not see any blood, so if you have picked up COD World at War just before buying this, just stay with COD: WaW.

Treyach already showed some of it's errors in the current COD: WaW release but I feel like QoS was its spawn devil child frustrating the player beyond any psychiatric therapies.

Great game with outstanding graphics

i'm new to videogaming with the Xbox 360, but I have all of the other Bond videogames on various other platforms. This one has the best graphics and even though I'm only on the first level, it is great fun. I know it's going to be an awesome game!Read full review...
