Great Classic Thriller - beautiful re-sample!

A great summer classic from the mid-70's. We had a 25th anniversary edition, with small booklet, that went missing, but, if it re-appears, the DVD in that kit will never be watched. This 2000 Edition is superior in sound and picture. Love it! The packaging itself is understated, disguising what a terrific version of the classic this release is.Read full review...

JAWS-DVD

This is the Original 'Don't go in the water movie! When an insatiable
great white shark terrorizes the townspeople of Amity Island, a
police chief who is afraid of the ocean played by Roy Scheider
(The Punisher, The Russia House, RKO 281, etc), a grizzled shark
hunter (Robert Shaw) and an oceanographer played by Richard Dreyfuss
(Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Always, The American President, etc)
seek to destroy it. The shark has other ideas and proceeds to attack
the boat they are on and tries to kill them at the same time. A cat
and mouse type chase ensues and becomes a white knuckle adaption of
the Peter Benchley novel that the movie is based on. Master director
Steven Spielberg ( Muchich, Minority Report, Saving Pvt. Ryan, Jurassic
Park, etc) works this movie in a great way-even adding an ominous musical
score each time the shark sets to eat something (mostly people). A great
thriller and classic movie that most people will enjoy and it will provide
almost everyone with a good evening of entertainment.

Jaws, the classic!

The classic, suspenseful monster movie. Completely satisfying in the cast, the plot, the scares, and the finale. Odds are, you've seen it before and know all that only too well.
Possible objections? Some may argue that they can tell the killer shark is animatronic. However, it was state-of-the-art in its time, and its performance did not dissapoint. (Personally, I found it preferrable to all the CGI done in recent films.)
The rating? It's PG-13, but it really should be considered an "R". There is a particularly bloody moment towards the end that deserves R-rating.
Special Features? This edition includes a nice featurette on the making of "JAWS". It includes interviews and behind the scenes info that makes for good extended entertainment. A reel of deleted scenes is also available.
Outtakes? Yes, but there are only two. Probably because the movie is an "oldie", and they threw away the old excess film.

Jaws (1975)

I bought this movie because I LOVE IT! This is one of those "greatest movies ever made." It has comedy and suspense, and Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, Robert Shaw and all the others are great in this film. It was as if the film was made for them. The idea of a shark hanging around a beach for food wasn't heard of as much when this was made, but we sure do think about it now. Larry wasn't on my good side with his stubborn-headedness about closing the beaches and risking lives. I love the part where Roy Scheider is shoveling chum, bolts upright and backs up and says, "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Richard Dreyfuss was collected throughtout, except with the hole in the boat under the water. That still scares me, and I know it's coming! Get the movie---you won't be sorry. If it's on tv, I'm going to watch it even if I do have the DVD.Read full review...

Jaws (2000, DVD)

Jaws is 30 years old. This scary blockbuster film is a classic and one of the original horror films from 1975l It is an excellent DVD set for the fan of the scary film from Steven Spielberg.

This film can be watched over and over and enjoyed by all. I loved the scene in which Brody said "We've gotta get a bigger boat" The look on his face was priceless. This was really one of the first disaster movies that were popular in the mid-70's. If you haven't seen this movie, buy it today and make sure you have lots of popcorn and someone to share this with!

This movie has endured the test of time and is an all time classic film. It is suspenseful and scary and keeps you glued to your seat, even after viewing it time and time again.

Starring Roy Scheider as Chief Brody

Robert Shaw as Quint

Lorraine Gray as Ellen Brody

A great find for any collector of classic movies.

Jaws is one of my all time favorite movies. A classic. This anniversary collector's edition includes a feature narrated by Steven Speilberg on the making of the movie, the casting, actual footage of sharks, etc. It also includes deleted scenes, out takes, and a trivia game of the movie, all of which, for any collector of a favorite classic, is such a bonus. I highly reccomend this Anniversary collector's edition.Read full review...

5 Star Must see Movie!!!!

This is one of my ALL TIME favorite movies! I was just a kid when this came out and I remember being so terrified about the ocean and even being in a pool..... LOL.... remember I was just a kid.... I also have JAWS 2 and may purchase the rest of the series. This was a great movie when it came to frightening the audience and the music just set the tone for everyone who watched it to be "very ready" and very scared that jaws was going to get some one... one of the best terrifying movies of all times... It keeps you on your toes and after you watch it, you will want to watch it again and again... It never gets boring.... I highly recommend this movie... and the actors were intense and right on target... could not have had a better cast.. simply perfect.... 5 stars for sure....

Thank You!

JAWS one of the all-time Blockbuster Greats!

The wife and I are a couple of Jaws lovers, well we also like much of the old movies. This particular version of Jaws is the 30th anniversary tape that included deleted and out-take scenes. There is a scene showing the 25' shark swimming into the pond under the bridge taken over the bridge as if in a helicopter. A beautiful scene, we still have no idea why it was cut, but is one of those things we both have seen it and eats at us. We'll find it one of these days, the scene was not in this 30th anniversary disk. That gives us about 4 copies of Jaws and still looking.Read full review...
