A Funny Film About a Serious Subject

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and changed my mind about its Academy Award nominations. They really were deserved.

High schooler Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) had sex one time with a neighbor boy friend named Bleeker (Michael Cera), and lo and behold she is pregnant. She talks a lingo that seems foreign, but the viewer gets the drift. And on the subject of pregnancy she is very uneducated. Bleek escapes all of the tension about the pregnancy and just pops orange tic tacs while he jogs daily. His mother doesn't like Juno and seems not to know about the expected baby. Is this plausible?

Fortunately, Juno has decent parents (J. K Simmons and Allison Janney), yet even they let Juno arrange adoptive parents (Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman)for the baby. She sees their picture and gets their names from a free newspaper. Although she and her dad do go and meet the prospective parents and sign legal papers, the adoption turns out not to be as smooth as silk. That's all I'm telling.

This film has drawn comparisons to "Little Miss Sunshine," which was also Academy nominated, but this movie is better. And the subject is very pertinent. And it does give a lesson on how complicated an issue teen pregnancy is.

Diablo Cody won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, the movie was nominated for Best Picture, and Ellen Page was nominated for Best Actress. The movie has a quirky cute soundtrack to match its dialogue. Also, it starts and finishes with cartoon images. It is definitely a must see and is especially a joy to watch.

Cute movie

I had to buy this DVD so my best friend could watch it. I had seen it years ago. We both got a huge laugh out ofthe Mad TV comedy sketch "Juno 2," and she kept asking about the actual movie, which is also funny and kind of sad. It has a good ending. Read full review...

A Summary and Review of The New Hit Movie, Juno.

When a teenage girl is faced with an unexpected pregnancy, she enlists the aid of her best friend in finding the unborn child a suitable home in this coming-of-age comedy drama from Thank You for Smoking director Jason Reitman. Juno (Ellen Page) may seem wise beyond her years, but after sleeping with classmate Bleeker (Michael Cera), the pregnant teen quickly realizes how little she really knows about life. Thankfully, Juno has been blessed with parents (J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney) who trust their daughter's judgment, and a best friend named Leah (Olivia Thirlby), who's always willing to help out in a pinch. With a little help from Leah, Juno soon comes into contact with Mark (Jason Bateman) and Vanessa (Jennifer Garner) -- an affluent suburban couple who have been unable to conceive a child of their own. Mark and Vanessa seem like they would make great parents, and are eager to adopt Juno's unborn child. Now, as adolescent Juno is faced with a series of very adult decisions, she will draw on the support of her family and friends in order to discover who she truly is, and discover that one bad choice can have a lifetime of consequences.

All in all, I believe the motion picture deserves a lot of praising for the excelent acting by Ellen Page. The Academy award winning movie will always be a favorite to me.

-Juno-

I bought this DVD as a birthday present for my pregnant 14 year old step daughter. The movie is perfect for that purpose. It takes the disastrous incident of teenage pregnancy lightly, almost funny, using simple language - apropriate for high school children.

And it delivers a clear message to those girls faced with unwanted pregnancy: find a suitable, grown-up mother for your baby, make a responsible decision for the better of your child, and move on with your own life.

JUNO - BEST FEEL GOOD MOVE IN YEARS!!

This is a movie about a tough subject, Teenage Pregnancy. What drew me to this movie was that it starred the kid from Superbad in it, and he was a riot in that. Also I heard all the good reviews online and on TV. I originally walked past this movie the first few days it was at blockbuster because it looked like something I wouldnt be interested in. I couldnt have been more wrong. Yes theres no action or things blowing up, but it was an excellent movie regardless. This was a movie that left you feeling warm and fuzzy when it was over. I think Micheal Cera(Superbad) and Ellen Page(X-Men) did a terrific job in thier starring roles, and Jason Baitman and Jennifer Garner do ane excellent job as supporting actor and actress.

Pros: Excellent acting done by all!
Good soundtrack
Very well written, tackles a tough subject in a superb manner!

Cons: Some scenes didnt seem authentic, mostly the ones with Jason Baitman. Overall he did a good job, but I felt some scenes were forced.

Final Review - RENT IT, BUY IT, OR USE DVD FOR A COASTER: BUY IT!! Great movie for a collection. No wonder why it won so many awards!

JUNO: A heartfelt movie

This is a great movie. I was actually surpised. As I started to watch it I was thinking, "Great another Napolian Dynamite movie." Actually it was much better.
This is a funny and very heart-warming movie. I actually cried at one point in this movie. Dont get me wrong though there is plenty of comedic relief to sustain
anyone.

In Juno, you come across a sixteen year old, Juno, who becomes pregnant by her best guy friend (Pauly) after having sex for the first time. This is basically her
story. She doesnt believe she is ready for a kid so she decides to have an abortion. She gets to the clinic and a girl from her school is there protesting and
this changes her mind. So then she goes to her best girl friend and asks for advice. They decide on adoption.

They then go and try to find the perfect parents in a newspaper like ad. They find what they believe to be the perfect couple and then decide to tell Juno parents.
Her parents are supportive yet confused, but they like the ideas that Juno has come up with. Juno then contacts and meets the suspected parents and signs
a closed adoption.

The soon to be adoptive mother (Jennifer Garner) really wants kids. Her husband not so much. Juno bascially falls in love with the husband and this makes the
husband rethink his marriage. He decides to get a divorce only months before the kid is ready to pop.

In the end the kid still goes to Jennifer Garner and Juno is left childless, but good news for her. She starts dating Pauly in the end and figures out what real love
is all about.

Its a cute and truthful movie about teen pregnancy betrayed by a great cast and an overly sarcastic Juno.

This is one doodle that can't be un-did!

Her parents didn't see it coming. They were hoping she'd been expelled, into hard drugs, anything but pregnant.

Well, Juno (Ellen Page) was hoping that, too. It took 3 pregnancy tests to convince her.

Juno tried the abortion clinic first, but couldn't go through with it. Her friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) convinces her to check out the Penny Saver for adoptive parents--or as she puts it couples 'desperately seeking spawn.'

She finds Mark (Jason Bateman) and Vanessa (Jennifer Garner), who seem to be the ideal couple. Vanessa has always wanted to be a Mom--and Juno and Mark have so much in common.

"Juno" takes us through a year of young Juno's life, including her relations with the father of her baby and her best friend, Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera), school, and the pregnancy and aftermath.

The film takes you on the gamut of emotions, but leaves you feeling good. I saw this film with my husband, who loved "Juno" as much as I did.

Juno. Greatest Indie Film Ever?

Quick answer? Yes.
This is quirky and lovable whilst remaining original and not campy.
Ellen Page is a fantastic actress years beyond her age. She manages to act adult and cute at the same time.
Michael Cera is also a fantastic addition to the film, adding awkwardness in place of suave debonair traditionally found in a leader male role.
Easily one of the best movies of 2007, complete with it's own (insatiable) indie score.

See this movie.

Great Movie, Wife and Kid love it!

Great story line...My wife and kid are glued to the Television every time this movie comes on. It really talks about the trials and tribulations of life and innocence of children and all the reasons why they should stay children and not try to grow up to fast and bring other lives into this word. It also teaches people that relationships are between two people, and decisions that are made should be made with not only the best intentions but with both parties true feelings put out there. This movie goes on and the guy takes a turn after a realization that what he has is not what he wants. He is almost still living in his college days and doesn't want to grow up and face familyhood.

Juno is a must see!

Juno (2008, DVD)

I could watch this movie everyday for a year and not get tired of it. Juno's character is amazing and you fall in love with her right from the beginning. Her sharp wit tied together with her slightly sarcastic mannerisms are hilarious and highly entertaining. Her situation is one that many high school girls fear on a daily basis, yet the movie shows that you can turn even the worst situation into a blessing. Each character, in some way, sticks in your mind. Each person grabs your attention with their unique traits and sense of humor. I would highly recommend this movie to everyone I know because it offers everything you look for in a movie: humor, romance, drama, etc.Read full review...
