Great head unit!

I replaced the broken head unit in my '03 Explorer, and did extensive research before deciding on the Kenwood DDX372BT. I wanted to keep the price below $300 while still getting some key features: USB connectivity, AUX input, touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and double-din sizing. This head unit gave me all that for nearly $100 less than my budget. What I noticed about the negative reviews I saw for this unit is that the cons posted by those reviewers were nitpicks. The UI is very manageable, install is straight-forward, even for a DIYer, and it has plenty of features.

One con I found was that the screen showed too much glare, and it wasn't bright enough during daytime use. I disagree with the brightness issue, and the glare hasn't been much of an issue in the few weeks I've had it installed.

Another con I saw was Bluetooth issues. I have two phones setup on it (Samsung GS5 & GS3), and once they were set up, connection is pretty simple from my phone. Sometimes I have to select it from my phones BT menu a couple times, but it hasn't been a problem.

If you're a serious audiophile, the 5-band customizable equalizer probably won't be enough for you, but, if you're that serious about it, you'll probably get a standalone equalizer anyway. This unit sound great connected to my OEM speakers, including the OEM amp/subwoofer combo.

All in all, I'm very happy with this unit, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone looking for a double-din head unit with great features for a relatively low price.Read full review...

Kenwood Excelon DDX-372BT

Great sounding unit and very user friendly! Love the look and the ease of access. Just installed it in my 2007 FJ Cruiser and it works amazing! Lights are not too bright and it looks sharp in the dash. I am currently running the stock speakers along with the stock subwoofer in my truck (suv for the technical aspect) and couldn't be happier with it. I was going to add a 5-channel amp but have decided against it since it sounds so good. I am replacing the stock speakers with some JBL's and newer sub as soon as they are delivered.
