first class optical quality at a small size

I know this lens. Have had it earlier. It's from the legendary first series of Minolta AF lenses. And it is their sharpest zoom from the eighties, and their sharpest standard zoom ever, period. I have had most of them, and know all. It does not have the reach as the 28-85, or the wideangle of the 24-50, both of them good, but not excellent like the 35-70/4. By excellent I mean as good as a prime, and this, it is, except som distorsion at 35mm. This is no problem today used on a digital Sony DSLR, it can be straightened in the software. And on digital it is a first class standard to short tele, 52mm - 105mm. Also on film it's first class prime quality as a 35-70 walk around street lens.Read full review...
