Good replacement for an old phone

Had IMEA issues after migrating from the old phone (Droid Turbo 2), not Kyocera's fault but frustrating to track down. I am still getting used to the new phone, (learning curve). I wish that it had the two features in the Droid that I really liked: Shake to turn on light, shake to turn off and Proximity sensor that displays the time with a nearby wave. I purchased it because of ruggedness and being waterproof. I have not tried drowning it yet so I can't say. I'm still not trusting the sapphire glass to be scratch proof so I am using a screen protector anyway. Ask me again in another 6 months if the phone met my expectations.Read full review...

Don't waste your money

this phone is awful. I do not recommend it.
It is heavy.
It drops calls ALL the time.
I spend sooooo much time saying "hello" "hello" "hello". "can you hear me"
there is a big delay when answering...why??
the keypad is off big time, so much so, i get locked out all the time.
the picture quality is the worst i have ever seen.
there is no way to adjust the pictures to make them look better.
i have to carry my ipod along with my phone every where i go so i can take pictures. How sickening.
There is very limited voicemail space!

Steady improvement

Better battery life and double the internal memory of the previous model. The only downside is the lack of keys on the front of the chassis, they're now taking up real estate on the display. Other than that, no complaints.i recommend setting it up without your SD Card installed and adding it later. Also, if you're moving from a CDMA phone you'll have to call your carrier and have them activate the voicemail software.Read full review...

This tough little thing is just what I wanted (not a daily driver cell phone).

A while back I ruined my Galaxy A52 by using it while standing in salt water on vacation in Mexico. I had it in a bag in the sun which caused the temp to skyrocket and the glue that held the back cover down got compromised. Also, the wife had corrosion on the charging port on her waterproof samsung (not samsung's fault).

So anyhow, what I went looking for was a waterproof tablet primarily so I could download pandora offline stations to use with a waterproof speaker when we are out on salt water. It absolutely needed to have a cover over the charging port. Well, tough tablets are a tad expensive with port covers.

Then I searched for rugged android phone for the heck of it and found this Kyocera. The price for a used one was great so I figured what the heck. When I got it, I thought I had gotten super lucky because the screen looked brand new. Then I read that it is an actually high quality sapphire screen. This thing is really hard to scratch (yes, you still can if you are determined).

I tried it in the pool, first just dipping it and checking under the port covers then I took it in and used it like an underwater camera with no issues. That exceeded my needs for it so, verry happy. Another nice surprise is that the touchscreen is optimized to be used when wet. It works surprisingly well!

I actually only wanted this to use as a tablet or mp3 player but for the heck of it I put my T-Mobile SIM in this Verizon version. It wasn't as smooth a process as a modern GSM phone but you know what? After a little bit of sputtering and a reboot, the darn thing connected to the 4g network. Every time I start it up I still get a text saying the phone had to be configured to use the SIM but.. it works. It's an older phone and does not support some of T-Mobile's long range 4g bands but what an extra bonus.

Anyhow, this phone is exactly what I wanted for a specific use scenario. As far as using it as a daily driver, you certainly could if the network compatibility is there for you and you don't mind a smaller ips screen. It's just bright enough and actually is optimized for polarized sunglasses (no dead angles). The phone was on android 8 when new and is running 10 when I received it. I bought a second one and it also came with android 10.

Kyocera Duraforce Good Buy!!

I have enjoyed my Kyocera DuraForce phone for the past 4+ years. I am extremely hard on my cell phones, and this phone has performed well for me, l even though I have dropped it countless times. The screen had several cracks which finally made it unable for me to read texts. Therefore, I went shopping for a new phone. The cellular phone store wanted to sell me on for $900. I was advised to shop on-line for one and found this brand new, still in the original cellophaned box for $199. So far, things are working as expected. It has slower technology which has made it frustrating to transfer data from the old phone to this new, but it's worth it to me to have such a durable phone. I am not in need of the fastest, smartest phone.Read full review...

It looks to be just as durable as the Brigadier. So far, so good

This phone is to replace my husband's 2nd Kyocera Brigadier. He absolutely loved both Brigadiers due to the durability. The first Brigadier was dropped on a driveway in the snow and ice laying face down and run over by a vehicle. Two days later it was found without a scractch or crack on it and was still working fine. The 2nd Brigadier is finally losing battery power. The Duraforce Pro 2 is a little bigger. It looks just as durable as the Brig. So far, the batter life seems to be long lasting since I was downloading apps and setting up his preferences all afternoon.. We live along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the mountains and it has great reception, better than my Samsung S7. It actually has three bars inside the house. We're very pleased. He's looking for this to last a long time like the Brigadiers.Read full review...

It Took A Bit but Ok now.

Would have given 5 star but had no sim card or sim card holder. Took a lot of agrevation to get it working properly. But it does now and all is well. A bit disappointed in the beginning but all is well now.Read full review...

DURABLE DURABLE DURABLE

Durable Durable Durable. Taes drops well. The screen basically cannot be scratched because of the sapphire glass built into the phone.

While this is a Verizon phone it wors fine on the ATT system. You will have to enter the 4g coding for it.

Compared to the newer phones this one is similar size but it is heavier than most. That is probably due to the military grade construction.

Kyocera Dura Force Pro 2 is a great phone.

Super clear sound for phone conversations, no distortions at all.

Auto complete feature for creating texts, makes great suggestions as to what word you are starting to type.

Recharges very quickly, goes from 65% to 100% charged in under one hour for me.

Waterproof up to 6 feet for up to 45 minutes.

Very rugged construction.

A great phone.

A really tough phone for people who are hard on their phones

This is a great phone. I purchased it to replace an older one of same that had reached the end of its battery life after a couple years. The only problem with this phone is that the battery is not easily replaceable so once that goes a replacement phone is necessary. Verizon has discontinued their locked phone, while ATT still offers theirs. Thankfully a new Verizon model was still available on EBay. The reason I like this phone is its durability and its being waterproof.....so long as you remember to keep the ports closed. My old one fell in a pond and was there for two weeks before I found a way to fish it out. It still worked and had some charge left. My old phone was dropped multiple times in its life, but never had its screen damaged. I do recommend a glass screen shield be used, though. It also went through a washer and dryer. So I know it is tough. Sadly phone is only 4G, so I'm hoping Kyocera will come out with a 5G version before this one gives up the ghost..Read full review...

Good phone at a great price!!!

Seller delivered on time and the phone was undamaged. Battery life seems to be better than a lot of other phones. I love the rugged feel and the size is perfect. It runs apps at a pretty good speed and doesn't seem to lag. I wasn't impressed at all with the phones presently on the market and was glad to find this one. Newer doesn't always mean better.Read full review...
