Good hardware if lacking some functions - crippled by win7

i bought this older windows phone to see if I wanted a windows mobile once my old phone contract ran out...
Originally only win7.5 , i managed to get it updated to win7.8 the final version before win8 phones..
Its easy to use, reasonably fast n responsive, has a good camera with flash (5MP) and a decent enough if lower res screen.
The windoes sync software is workable if not brilliant, but once you get the hang of it it does a decent job, but it aint no itunes .

The only real downsides are the naff headphones, but they do allow music control similar to ipod remotes & give a good signal to the phone.Sound wise passable. There are no expansion sockets so yr stuck with 16GB , but that said win apps are compact & space fills slowly... On the Apps front - win7 apps are now falling by the wayside & win8 is all many focus on - still both win7 & win8 lag way behind Android & IOS for apps.... i keep this phone as a alternative for a night out or backup just incase, but i suspect 6months down the line it will be a forgotten peice of hardware as far as LG & Windows are concerned - shame

FANTASTIC. Beautifully clean smart phone for not very much money.

So this is on Windows 7. Apparently Windows 8 has had bad reviews, I've never tried it, but because there's a newer version, Windows 7 phones become cheaper. THIS IS FANTASTIC.

Windows 7 is so clean and easy. It's my second windows phone (first died from water) and after I logged in to hotmail and windows live again, it literally resynced all of my contacts, all my notes and everything I needed. THAT WAS FANTASTIC.

Features - pretty decent 5MP camera, 16GB memory (which you can throw itunes playlists and stuff on), plenty of cool apps (free angry birds, whatsapp, unfortunately not Snapchat yet...) but everything you need. Also sweet touch screen. THESE ARE ALL FANTASTIC.

Battery life is about the same as any smart phone (i.e a day for constant use and emails coming in etc). However it uses the universal micro USB charger, WHICH IS FANTASTIC.

Overall, a cheap phone, should cost a lot more, does everything you need well and it's FANTASTIC

An excellent phone and Operating System

I am delighted with this phone. Having never used or even seen a Windows 7 phone before, I was a bit hesitant to commit myself to an 18 month contract, potentially ending up with a phone that I did not like, hence my ebay purchase. I need not have worried. The phone is responsive, well designed and a pleasure to use. The touch screen is responsive with just the right level of sensitivity and the resolution is good. When you scroll through items on the screen, the acceleration profile is perfect making it easy to find apps and contacts without whizzing through the one you want. The screen refresh rate must be quite high as there is no discernable frame jitter whilst scrolling.
Battery life is pretty good, it lasts a working day with fairly heavy use which is OK, browsing the internet or using the GPS for extended periods does get through the battery fairly quickly though.
I have really come to like the Win7 operating System and having compared it to my colleagues iphones and Androids I can honestly say that I prefer it. It is just easier and faster to find your way around, others will of course disagree but having had phones with all three OS's on my desk at the same time, to me there is no comparison.
My only slight criticism is that the text in “contacts” (phone numbers and email addresses)is so small I have trouble reading it.
Sure, the number of Apps is less than that available from Apple or Google but there has never been an occasion when I was unable to find an app to do what I wanted.
At the moment the phone does not support flash but Adobe are working on a version for the phone, which is more than iphone users can say! I am looking forward to receiving the "Mango" update which I hope will make a good phone even better.
I thoroughly recommend both the phone and the operating system.

Lg Optimus E900- A Feature Rich, Good Value Phone

I bought this phone as a replacement for a O2 Pocket PC, the phone updated to win 7.8, making it almost up to date. There are a few features I miss, such as task manager, but using Zune makes up for that. What I dislike about my phone I already knew about, the phone over heating and re-booting, but that I have got used to. The phone looks and feels great. For the price and the fact that I will be able to get updates for another 9 months or so make it good value.I think I would like the Win 8 model at some future time but am happy enough at the moment.Read full review...

the Optimus 7 could float your boat

Good

Reassuringly weighty
Simple, attractive user interface
Good on-screen keyboard
16GB of storage space

Bad

Wobbly buttons on the front
App store is just getting going

Conclusion

The LG Optimus 7 feels fractionally less responsive than the HTC HD7, and has a smaller screen, but it's much cheaper. Despite its lower price, the Optimus 7 feels solid, and, although the added LG and Vodafone apps are nothing to write home about, the Windows Phone 7 user interface is fresh, fast and easy to use.

If you're already an app-addicted smart-phone user, Windows Phone 7's nascent app store probably won't tempt you to switch from the iPhone or Android. But, if you're looking to upgrade to a smart phone that's easy to use and more affordable than the iPhone, the Optimus 7 could float your boat.

Aging but gracefully, an easy to use & beautifully made premium product!

Although not new and not upgradable to Windows Mobile 8 this is still a very EASY to use and capable smart phone. It is made from premium materials and it looks and feels like it. In the days of the gargantuan superphones we now find ourselves in I found this a nice sylish bit of kit to use. i bought this for my 75 year old Mother, i found that older people had problems using the crap smaller handsets they generally use and my mother always liked modern technology. I can happily tell you that she took to it like a fish to water. She would not have probably handled a iPhone as easy and would have had no chance with anything Android. Get this at the right price and you will have a bargain guaranteed.Read full review...
