Affordable Ethernet Routers

For those of us who value our privacy and the security of our home computer network, and choose to avoid WIFI, these routers are a good solution. They allow you to run several Ethernet equipped devices from one WAN input. In my case I have 2 home computers and my Sony Blu-ray DVD player running from it. The price on these has come way down so they can be found at affordable prices.. Buy several while they are still available.Read full review...

BEFSR41 Version 2.00.02 Router

This BEFSR41 version 2.00.02 of 2/14/2007 I received from you is working at present better than what I thought about out of support by Cisco of older versions of routers. This version is really a stand-alone small home network router that seems working better without software upgrade.

However, I still need to know more about NAT the so-called built-in firewall capability as opposed to other brands like small DLink routers where one can identify which ports or URLs should be blocked or enabled to configure firewalls or filters. I will see what comes up in the future about the security of my aquired BEFSR41 ver 2.00.02.

Old style Cisco Router

I purchased this router as a replacement for a failed unit that I use to observe my cameras at my Laundromat. These routers are easy to set up for "port forward" to enable distant viewing. The one I received was refurbished by Cisco and I received it with factory seals. It ended up being defective and Cisco wouldn't give me any customer support because it was an outdated product. I ended up buying the newest Cisco router locally and it worked well. I still have one more of these in use at another location, but I'd recommend you just buy fresh product. Obviously my refurbished unit was never good the first or the second time around. Cisco products are usually ok, but their customer support is crap. After they refurbed their product, and it sat in their or the resellers possession for way too long, they decided not to support a product that apparently was a dud from the get go. I will continue to use their routers because I am familar with them, but I'm not a fan.I was tempted to buy a D-Link router on sale on Black Friday for 19.95 instead of Cisco's $59.95, but I didn't want to spend hours and hours to learn a new product, and risk finding out another brand may not work for my application.Read full review...

Great router except for annoying resets.

This is an incredibly fast and easy to use wired router. It automatically recognizes attached devises without having to program them in. There is one flaw, however. About every other week it just quits working. I unplug the router and then plug it back in and it resets and is fine. Other than the twice per month annoying reset, the router is great.Read full review...

Still Usable | Reliable Router

I tested this router out on my Home network. I have a 250Mbps Cable Internet service. This router gave me a solid 95Mbps. I have 6 PCs and 1 Mac Mini with 2 iPhone on my local network. Even though this router today bottlenecks my network I had very little indication of the network bottleneck using at least 3 devices at one time, one being my gaming box. I could stream 4k YT videos on one system with no problems. Read full review...

Helped extend my wifi.

This router allowed me to move my wifi router up to the second floor of our house. This increased the the signal area and allows us to use wifi in our yard and on the front porch.

Excellent product, easy to use and good value for money

The BEF SR41-RM is very easy to set up and had an excellent feature set. I used it as a additional LAN to my exisitng wi-fi LAN. It can be set up to extend the LAN or as a standalone LAN with it's own firewall.Read full review...

Works as advertised

I purchased this as a replacement for one that was struck by lightning. I didn't need a router with wireless capability and quite honestly there aren't many 4-port wired routers available.

Newer Linksys/Cisco models have a much easier interface/setup process, so those who are techno-newbies may find setting this up a little more cumbersome. But having already owned one, that was not a problem for me.

Since I set it up a few months ago I have had no problems.
