The Most Boring Live CD Known to Man?

Concert CDs and live audio are meant to expound on something that listeners can't get from a studio album: the feel and power of hearing their favorite artist/band in concert. True, live CDs rarely substitute for seeing a band in person, but the best can be a close second, especially if the artist/band is no longer touring or together.

"The Way We Walk Vol. 1" includes live cuts of Genesis' best singles. It's great to see a variety of songs from at least three different albums in one place—but then again, this isn't a greatest-hits collection. These live cuts, apart from having a cheering audience track, are no different really than the studio versions. In this respect, "The Way We Walk Vol. 1" fails almost completely as a concert CD.

Does this mean to say the material is substandard? Absolutely not. But "The Way We Walk Vol. 1" doesn't give listeners anything they can't already get on Genesis' profound—and more expansive—studio albums.Read full review...

A great concert cd.

Genesis is my favorite progressive rock band. There are good things about the live version of their songs, even though the album version is better. This cd is the shorter songs from the live concert, but some of them are longer than your usual 3 minute song. One thing I don't like about this cd is the fact that they didn't perform the entire song of "tonight tonight tonight", Which is my favorite song by them.Read full review...

This was recorded live, but most of fan noise cut out so you can hear the songs clearly. Some of Genesis/Phil Collins' best.
