Nice, modern design

The remote feels good my hand. Good thing that it can be programmed for a bunch of station presets, because to get to the manual number input screen is about 3 screens deep. The lack of a permanent number pad contributes to a very contemporary appearance. But, if you find that you forgot to program one of your favs, you may end up like me, searching for the component remote to access my channel number and put off programming the Ultimate until a "later time".

Fortunately, when I do get time to do the programming, it is super easy with the Harmony on-line tool.

Poor design

The bad: It's a "two handed" remote. By that I mean that you have to hold it in your hand to use it. You can't just leave it on the end table or other surface and reach over and push a button on it because the bottom is rounded. Another design flub is that the transport keys are located above the touch screen ! If you want to push play, rewind, pause etc., and you brush your hand across the touch screen before it times out you'll change the channel, or something else. Very irritating!!

The good: It's very easy to program, and the charging cradle it a winner !

Mixed results. Generally good, but some fine points are aggravating

In general it works well, however the touch screen doesn't seem to be especially reliable. Sometimes it works well, and some times it takes several tries to activate the function on the screen. i also cannot get the forward/backward skip commands to work with the 'hard' keys. i get fast foward/fast reverse only. Skip does work properly from the touch screen. There is a number pad available, but it isn't all that easy to get too. It's generally faster to go the nearest favorite and use the channel up/down keys if the channel you want isn't one of the 50 favorites. The non-touch Harmony 650 has dedicated keys for most functions, and that makes it easier to use since you don't have to search through the touch screen menu's and it has the number pad as dedicated keys.Read full review...

Great Upgrade from my Old Harmony 650

Needed to replace a Harmony 650 that I'd wore out the buttons on from use. After upgrading to a new TV, decided to upgrade to a more advanced remote, and Harmony was best option. Was able to get this remote for a little over $100 and so far its proven well worth it. Imported my 650 config into my new remote and in 5 minutes it was working great. Only tweeked a few settings so far and easy via newer software interface. Overall ver pleased with this remotes performance.Read full review...

very easy to set up, it took me a few days tofigure it all out. but the tap part of the touch screen doesn't work well, i can never get the rewind or

fast forward stopped by tapping, i have to use a button. The volume doesn't work unless i change over to TV even though i programmed ti to change through the sattelite box. I like that it is chargeable and that it lights up. Read full review...

Great Remote

This remote was a decent replacement for my logitech 1100 that died after so many years of use.
It has a decent shape and is easy to program. takes a bout 4-5 times to get used to the menu functions but that is pretty much with any new remote.
Charge holds pretty good, for solid daily use can be about 5-7 days and it will start to drian. but it charges super quick, so if its dying out put on a movie and set it on charger and it should be pretty much full by end of the show.

Would recommend, and I am also thinking of getting one for my bedroom also. much better than my cable remote.

Regards

Works well / Easy to Program / Still Prefer Harmony One Better

I own 4 Harmony One remotes bought as used, 1 Harmony 1100 bought new, and now this Harmony Ultimate One bought new. I like the Harmony One over the Ultimate because the display is brighter, clearer to read, and prefer the display located at the top of the remote. Also, the display on the One has functions within it such as List, Home, and others that I can see well in the dark versus locating them as a hard key on the Ultimate. The advantages of the Ultimate in my opinion would be it's thinner and less slick thus easier to hold. I suspect also since the Ultimate is newer, it likely is programmable with more of the latest electronics although I have yet to encounter any issues with a Harmony One.Read full review...

Ultimate One? Perhaps in frustration.

The Ultimate One that I have seems to be finicky in how I press the soft buttons on the touch screen. Oftentimes, I have to press the button three or more times before it will register. Sometimes it will think I pressed a button when I am simply trying to set it down onto a table.

The same holds true when using the hard buttons to pause and resume a movie. It's pot-luck as to how many times you have to press the buttons before it will register.

As there are no number buttons, you have to program your TV "favorites" into the channel screen. However, there is space for only 50 channels. I use more that that, so must still use my cable remote for selecting a lot of my channels.

In the devices favor, it does seem to have a considerable number of programming or set-up options. For example, I had to keep adjusting the pause times between internal "source" selections for my TV, as the source selector is simply a toggle that is partially brain-dead, so can't toggle through the sources too quickly.

I also like the rechargeable battery, as I was constantly replacing batteries in older Harmony models.

Having said all of that about frustration, I would probably buy one again as I don't want to pay at least twice as much for a better make/model.

Great, but you gotta know what you're doing!

So many parameters you can program to a single button (if you want). All physical buttons programmable. Single commands or sequences. Syncs easily with Logitech hub. People who criticize it for not properly handling input switching don't realize the problem is actually with wildly inconsistent implementation by manufacturers. The programming software actually asks how your device/remote handles input switching, but it only envisions cycling through an inputs menu or dedicated input buttons, but there are many more programming schemes from different mfg's; some (Magnavox) treat inputs like channels and cycle through them with the ch+/ch- buttons. Some switch to an active HDMI CEC input when that input's device receives new commands. Some (Dynex) only display the inputs/sources when you hit the "input/source" button, but then you have to switch using the up/down buttons, and even then, some will switch to the selected input after x-amount of time, whereas some require you to hit the "select/OK" button. All in all, Logitech has done a pretty good job of giving you enough options/tools to create an activity that will work, even if it takes 30 seconds to execute, and a some creative programming to achieve. I figured out solutions to all the above input quirks for devices 3-13 years old. The biggest plus is that it has a built-in IR receiver to learn my devices' unique comands!! If your device's original remote has a button for it, the Harmony Touch can learn it, and, because you do it while connected to their Harmony desktop software, it's simpler than the procedure you needed for old 90's/00's "learning" remotes.Read full review...

Harmony Ultimate (One) Cheap Yet Solid

Long time Harmony user since my first 880 (of which I still have 3). I upgraded to this remote from a Harmony Touch, and the software is a large improvement. I wanted an affordable solution with modern command options, and the newer models even used are too expensive. The Ultimates were the cheapest good option. Using with a Harmony Hub which together allow for complete system control including Amazon Fire TV. Easily configurable. Touch screen still very sensitive which is probably my biggest complaint to this model. One wrong touch and you can accidentally shut the whole system down requiring restart. I like that once you make changes in My Harmony software, you can sync the changes to remote and hub right from the remote without connecting via USB cable. Still a loyal Logitech and Harmony remote advocate.Read full review...
