Works great if you have a good " line of sight" to the source access point

When my 7 dbi directional panel antenna failed to maintain a consistent signal, I upgraded to this 14dbi panel.
The doubling of the strength has meant far fewer dropped signals. Pn any given day, I may lose the signal only 3 or 4 times for a cumulative 10 minutes, say. The antenna can be hooked directly into a laptop via the USB port or via a repeater that has a USB port. I am using this antenna hooked to an Alfa R36 USB WiFi repeater that has the newer firmware. The chipset is the RT3070, which has good sensitivity. Perhaps a future version of this antenna could be a version that has the RealTek RTL8187 or a later chipset; it is supposed to have even better sensitivity.
My only complaont
My only complaint is that the USB cable is not detachable; it is hardwired into the box. It would be nice to be able to replace it with a shorter or longer cable is necessary.

Poor Performance

The adapter could not maintain even a poor connection to a public router a short block away with a clear line-of-sight. I have a fairly new IMac using OS X 8.5 (my choice). The adapter performance and software were extremely limited. Other external antennas work much better. However, I would also not recommend TP-Link or the Bear Extender Turbo. I'm currently using an Asus duel band USB in a coffe can. Works better than any of those other units. The TP-Link wouldn't even start or allow itself to be removed.

Loving this antenna

Got this antenna recently since my Verizon jetpack was crap. Installed it within 1 minute, put antenna outside and WiFi was on with one click and password of course..lol I was able to grab signal from inside my house into our shop instantly. Pretty amazing and very fast shipping too! Seriously recommend this over Verizon's crappy and data eating jetpack! Very very satisfied to have this in my arsenal of gadgets!Read full review...

Know what the connection readings mean.

The descriptions for items like this should tell you what to look for when you first try you new product. When I first hooked up this new antenna I got a very low reading for the connection strength so I disconnected it and put it back in the box. Later when I hooked it up at home and had the same reading I thought what is this. After looking it up on the Internet I found out that the lower the number the better of the connection. I won't be able to really test it until I go south for the winter but my assumption is I will have a very good connection strength.Read full review...

Great Antenna - Easy to install

This is the second of this type of antenna that I have installed. Both locations are over 200 feet from my Wi-Fi . I had been using a repeater and barely got two bars. Now I get a solid five bars with no repeater. I'm not a computer person (66 years old) and I was able to install the ant. and set up the computer with out any problems the first time. If you have to have a computer a long way from the base unit this is the antenna you need. I have tried others and non even come close to the reception of this antenna.Read full review...

Truly Amazing for such a cheap, simple antenna ...

I didn't expect too much but at this price, just to get a more robust signal from my boat to the marina office would be great.

When I set it up and ran it, I was amazed that I received a strong signal from a business over a mile away and the number of signals just about quadrupled, with the antenna at a height of 11 feet above the water(I live on a sailboat), using USB 2.

I might consider running the antenna up my backstay, with an extension, high enough to clear a blocking metal building, to a height of about 50' above water and will make a new report if I can get the local library(1/2 mile away ... right through the metal building).

BTW ... this antenna has weathered the worst that Lake Erie can deliver ... summer and winter ...

Works Greater than I expected

I was told I had to lay out a Hundred bucks for a good signal booster. I laid out $35, and I went from 1 bar to 100%. I live in a 5th Wheel trailer, and RV parks often have a low signal depending where you are located in the park. This does just the trick. I still have to slow park internet, but at least I have awesome access to it now. I'm pulling from a building about 75 feet away, but after I hooked this up, I was seeing wifi that was not on my list before...wow, what a great buy!Read full review...

Go to the casino instead !

Couldn't get the CD to open no matter what I tried so I googled the company and found out it went out of business in 2011 (almost 10 years ago) and was bought out at that time. It seems that its too old and outdated for the operating system to open and therefore cannot run the setup. Its probably better to get a newer style wall plug-in extender, unless you have an older computer that will open the CD but that's the chance you'll take.Read full review...

Reach out an touch someone.

We are in a travel trailer two houses away from a neighbors house that has allowed us to use their WiFi. My laptop built in WiFi could not make that distance but this adapter makes that distance with a very strong signal. For my needs it is worth every penny I paid for it. It will come in handy in RV parks where the WiFI signal is low.Read full review...

OMG, it actually WORKS!!!

Honestly, we did not have high hopes for this antenna. We had tried other solutions, and each had fallen flat. At this price point, we expected the same. Nope! Mounted it on the roofline of our garage, pointed it toward our house 450 yards away with LOADS of trees between, and instantly got FULL WiFi bars on our Dell laptop in our garage! Absolutely incredible!! We will get the router next to get actual WiFi in the garage, instead of internet through the cable and into the USB port of the laptop. If the router works HALF as well as this antenna does, we will be THRILLED! Just get this one, and you will be thrilled, too!!!Read full review...
