A Sound Spectacular

Wow! George and Giles did a fantastic job. Just wonderful, I bought this to replace my original copy, where bizarrely the DVD disc became defective and would no longer play. Weird.
Two points, though:
1. It is not actually the soundtrack used in the Love show. But it is fantastic anyway, and so very entertaining and imaginative.
2. Yes, you get the surround sound with any Blu ray (or I guess DVD player if anyone still has one), and the sound is very, very good--but it is just DVD audio. However, to get the better sound, the DVD-A audio, you must have a DVD player that specifically can play DVD-Audio discs. Those players are pretty rare, and very expensive.

Sonically Great, But A Real Hack Job

This is worth hearing once just to hear how nice the sound can be with a great enhancement. The real problem with it is that it sounds like a series of horribly wrought medleys and compilations of song snippets, ending up as a complete bastardization of everything that those songs started out as. Producers George and Giles Martin pat themselves on the back endlessly in the liner notes for their accomplishments in fusing these songs, but jail time is what they really deserve for this.Read full review...

"Love" (Special Edition) Beatles /Cirque du Soleil

First, I will commit to reading more carefully in the future. These are 2 identicle cds with the exception that one can be played on your DVD player. But don't expect to see a dang thing. I bought this thinking "Aha, I can watch the whoe Cirque du Soleil show over and over." But alas, it was not so. Those Canadian circus folks are pretty darn private about their patented performances and unless you fork over the required ticket price you again and again you cannot watch the show again and again.

What do I love about "Love"? Well, I love the Beatles music and here is some unusual combinations of tunes. Sometimes 3 songs blended for your awaiting ears. Beuatifully engineered and I am always eager to hear a new version that I haven't heard previously.

Ultimately worth buying just do not expect to see a show. Hear the show. Very good cd. You will like it, I imagine.

Mind Blowing Surround Sound.

Do you want have some fun? Instead of trying to explain to your friends why you spent all that money on your surround sound system, sit them down in the sweet spot and pop in this disc. Come back in about an hour and a half and help them to the door. They'll never doubt you again. Of course, this exercise only works if you understand why a DVD-Audio is different than a "normal" DVD (and have a system that can play it). For as long as I can remember, I have heard George Martin referred to as the "fifth Beatle". My smart ass response was to ask "which instrument did he play?" I now know the answer to that question. The "instrument" that he played was the studio itself. In remixing this for the Las Vegas show, George Martin (and his son) have shown the musical genius that lies behind the scenes. When I listen to this in it's full 5.1 multi-channel glory, I can believe this is the caliber of album that the Beatles would be making today. Note: The system I used to evaluate this disc. Yamaha S1500 DVD, Yamaha RX-V2700, Two pair RSL Nevada XT, Two pair JBL L820, One pair JBL L8400P, One JBL LC2Read full review...

Love LOVE!

The Beatles LOVE CD sounds great. I expected that but what I purchased this set for was to hear the DVD Audio disc on my surround sound system. I was not disappointed. The sound is clean, crisp, and really shines when backed by a serious stereo system. It is almost as good as being at the live show in Las Vegas... almost. Read full review...

Everything was great and was as expected. Thanks! 😊

I bought it when it came out years ago as I have been a Beatle fan most of my life. I didn't care much for the mashups and I traded it in for more music CD's. But I wanted to hear it again now that I have a 5.1 surround system. And I was blown away! Love it. Read full review...

The Beatles "Love" CD/DVD Audio combo

This set contains a lossless Advanced Resolution Surround mix, but I used the dts 5.1 mix which was excellent at 754 Kbps, though lossy, there's also an LPCM stereo mix, 48/16 which comes through at 1.5 Mbps and a Dolby Digital 5.1 that is 448 Kbps...
The "Because" version here is stripped to just vocals and birds chirping; beautiful.."Eleanor Rigby" was excellent; this is the surround version you need here...the version on "1" was disappointing...
The addition of the riff from "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" to "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite" is magickal
I'll just leave it as its brilliant in surround sound, and the new versions of all this stuff is really cool
I actually have listened to the CD as well for once, and it's quite decent

An excellent CD & Audio DVD release!

Specially created for the worldwide-famous acrobatic performance troupe Cirque Du Soleil, with a show taking place in Las Vegas, this album is an out-of-this world listening experience. Remixed and remastered by legendary record producer Sir George Martin and his son Giles, they have taken several original Beatles recordings and placed them together in a very interesting way. It truly is 'The Beatles as you have never heard them before'. First released in November 2006, "LOVE" turned out to be one of the finest examples of how far technology in the recorded music industry has advanced. There are many bright moments featured here, making this album an awesome musical trip back in time. Who would have ever thought that these recordings from the 60s could be improved in their sound and overall atmosphere? Several of the tracks are mixed quite well together. Especially impressive is the first-time true stereo mix of "I Am The Walrus". With this version, you can actually make out the instrumentation, as though you are hearing it for the first time. "Revolution" and "Back In The U.S.S.R." are included in this set, albeit in abbreviated version on the CD, and the original full-length version on the Audio DVD. And, don't forget "Gnik Nus", which is literally the song "Sun King" presented backwards. There is also an accompanying booklet included, featuring liner notes annotated by George and Giles Martin. Winner of 2 Grammy Awards, "LOVE" is a great album, that presents the timeless music of The Beatles in a very special way. It is a great addition the already-impressive library of Beatles CDs.Read full review...

The Beatles like you've never heard.

This is a 2 Disc-Set that contains a CD & DVD-AUDIO Disc. The DVD-AUDIO Disc is a 5.1 Channel surround sound Audio DVD. The sound quality is excellent. My kids & I have listened to it straight through a few times now and they absoulutly love it. As I do as well. The dvd-audio contains 26 tracks, as does the cd. My only wish was that they should have done the CD in HDCD format. Because it is night and day from the dvd-audio. Get Back, I want to hold your hand, Help!, Strawberry Fields Forever, Lucy in the sky, Revolution, While my guitar gently weeps, Hey Jude & All you need is love all surround you with very well down mixes. If you close your eyes it feels as if they are singing right in front of you. We own about 30 or so muti channel audio disc and this is a top 5 pick all day. If you have a capable system that can take advantage of this format, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of the DVD-AUDIO format of this disc.Read full review...

Wow, what a mix!

Incredible (re) mix of some of The Beatles most iconic songs. George Martin brings his intimate knowledge of the studio tapes and master recordings of the band to a different level and quality that was not available in the 1960's. For the audiophile this 5.1 mix plays best when it is somewhat loud to best hear the details and emotion of some incredible studio music.Read full review...
